Caritas, Thursday [6/14]

Phoebe helped tape the zombies to their correct parts and talked to them for a few moments about their music.

She was in a pretty cheerful mood and thought that today's workshop had gone pretty well... even with the interesting Arthurian discussion that Wyatt and Anders had segued into.

After making sure everything was in its proper place, Phoebe unlocked the doors.

Caritas was open.

A normal-looking (well, normal for her) Rikku and an orange-clad headdress-wearing Animal tore into Caritas with their buzzers going full speed.

There was a brief conference with the zombies that would have been whispered if it had been, you know, anyone other than Rikku and Animal.

And then the band started up the best song ever, with its trumpets and happy Latin rhythm, that most of Fandom was probably insanely sick of by now.

"They call me Cuban Pete!
I'm the king of the rumba beat!
When I play the maracas, I go
Chick-chicky-boom, chick-chicky-boom!"

Animal is dancing with his typical Latin/seizure flair as he sings.

Rikku was buzzing along. In so far as she was smashing the crap out of her buzzer in no discernible rhythm whatsoever and shimmying a lot.

"The senoritas sing, and add a swing, with this rumbero!
It's very nice! ... So full of spice!
And when they're dancin' they bring, a happy ring, the maraquero!
Singin' a song, all the day long!"

Animal was doing quite a hip thrust with each Chick-Chicky -Boom. But not in a dirty way.

"Si, senorita, I know that you will like the chicky-boom-chick
It's very nice! So full of spice!
I place my hand on your hip and if you will just give me your hand,
then we shall try, just you and Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!"

Rikku decided against trying the hand-on-hip thing with the zombies, for obvious reasons of ew.

Animal dived off the stage and into the drum set with a loud bang.

"CHICKY BOOM! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The drums suffered no damage due to Animal's maniacal attitude.

Rikku decided this was a great time to headbang, and accompany herself on the buzzer. And possibly pick up a microphone stand and throw it around a la Pete Townsend.

For the drinking and the flirting and the tipping.

Mary wanted to stay far away from Gunther's culinary experiments (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1780812.html) as possible, so she was back at the bar.

"Club soda with lime, please."

And the presence of a still cheerful and bouncy Anders, of course. He was spinning back and forth on his barstool, flashing a bright grin at Phoebe every time he caught sight of her on one of his rotations.

Bel was there, of course, and settled on a stool next to Anders, giving him a bemused smile.

Anders noticed the bemusedness of the smile and raised an eyebrow at Bel. "Something wrong?"

"No," Bel said. "Just admiring your spinning talents."

Anders snickered and grabbed the edge of the bar to stop himself. "Dork -- whoa, dizzy," he blurted out, teetering off the edge of the stool.

And he hadn't even been drinking yet.

Bel caught hold of Anders to steady him. "Whoa," he said. "Last thing you need is a concussion and another trip to the clinic."

"There you go again, all worried and taking care of me." Anders leaned against Bel for a few seconds longer, just until he got his balance back. No, really.

"Of course I worry about you," Bel said, but not with his usual gruff tone. "I don't want to see you hurt."

Okay, the lack of gruffness was . . . Anders had to admit he was starting to find it a little bit . . . wrong. He'd always thought it was cute that Bel got all gruff when he was trying to avoid being schmoopy, and he kind of missed that.

He smiled, though, and leaned over to brush a light kiss across Bel's lips. "Love how you take care of me."

Bel chuckled and kissed him back. "Dork," he said affectionately.

"Shut up," Anders retorted lightly, poking him in the ribs. "You love me being dorky."

"Yeah, I do," Bel said, sneaking another kiss.

The hell with his own barstool -- Anders tried to see if he could climb up into Bel's lap.

Bel started to lose his balance, because honestly, bar stools weren't really made for snuggling.

"Not working, huh?" asked Anders, grabbing onto the bar for the second time in a few minutes just to keep himself -- both of them this time, really -- from falling. Once he'd regained his balance, he climbed up to sit on the bar, straddling Bel and grinning at him.

Bel had to shift his position a little, because . . . yeah. "We're in public," he murmured, but he was grinning.

Anders smirked and scooted back a little way to make things less . . . blatant. "Well, there isn't enough room on the barstool. 'sides, we've done more than this in here before," he added, trailing a fingertip down the side of Bel's face. "What'd you do this afternoon, huh? Got down to the construction site and you weren't there after lunch."

"I decided to take the afternoon off and just go for a walk," Bel explained. "I ran into Isabel and we had coffee."

"Probably a good idea for you to hang out with her, yeah . . . I've been hogging you too much lately," he said, frowning.

Bel cocked his head. "What's wrong?" he said, sliding his hand up Anders's arm.

Anders shook his head. "Nothing, really. Just don't want to take up all of your time, when you've got other friends who probably want to see you before . . . y'know. Before you have to leave." His voice dropped a little bit on the last line.

Bel dropped his gaze a little. "We don't have to start thinking about that yet," he said quietly. "There's still time."

"Yeah," Anders echoed, a little hollowly, reaching down to take Bel's hand and intertwine their fingers. "Still time."

Bel squeezed Anders's hand. "Lots of time," he said.

For the hanging out and the talking.

For the keeping the internets from exploding.
