Trooper Station: Wednesday

Dale sits cheerfully at his desk, whistling as he completes his paperwork for the week and eating his third jelly doughnut.

"Ralph? I have some tapes for you to transcribe," Dale called out as he signed off on his last piece of paperwork.

However Ralph was no where to be found.

"Ralph? Ralph? Where the devil did he go?" Dale said looking around the office and then addressing the gathering of troopers at the coffee station. "Oh well. Which one of you boys are up for transcribing my tapes today?"

The troopers gave Dale a baleful look before going back to their coffee talk.

As usual, Charlotte had made far too many cupcakes for her class of an entire six people, but, as it turned out, she knew exactly somewhere to go on Wednesdays to get rid of them.

Funny how it worked out so nicely like that.

"Dale! I've got cupcakes!"

"Now that isn't fair," Charlotte said with a small laugh, good humored to cover up her faint embarrassment, as she set the box of remaining cupcakes on the desk. "I can't make fun of back, since you actually did become what you wanted, although if you've still got that picture of J. Edgar Hoover in your wallet, there is that."

"And I always make too much. I know there's only six of them, but you'd think teenagers would eat more."

"Awwww," Charlotte gushed with her laugh musically increased. "Yeah, no making fun of me for wanting to be a princess ballerina. I at least grew out of it."

...Kind of.

Charlotte shot Dale a bit of a look. "Considering my aspirations to be a ballerina ended by the time I was eight and a half, that was certainly a one time only offer. Unless, of course, you're offering a scenario where you might be dancing with me."

Charlotte gave a faint smile, "Oh, I could easily push that back until Sunday since the mun's plane doesn't leave 'til then, la. Since I do owe up on my end of the bargain, and that sounds rather nice, anyway."

"Oh, well," Charlotte said, in a tone that clearly sealed the deal, "far be it from me to deprive them the pleasure."

Charlotte couldn't help a laugh. "I am coming back, you know. And I think Ralph knows that if he does get grabby, then there will be a not-so-mysterious cessation in baked good being brought down to the station. So he'll just have to decide which goods he likes better."

Preening a little for the compliment, Charlotte smiled with a small nod. "I am. Although I still feel a bit bad about having to miss another class, but if I don't do it now, the timing isn't going to work out so nicely for all of us again, so it's just a sacrifice I'll have to make. I doubt the kids would really mind that much anyway."

"...Really?" Charlotte asked, another grin blossoming on her face. "You wouldn't mind?"

"I'd love for you to do that, then," Charlotte decided brightly. "And it would be a nice change of pace for the kids, too, I think."

It definitely earned him a soft kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, Dale."

"Oh, no, nothing too big," Charlotte waved a dismissive hand a little. "Just catching up, maybe see an exhibit or two to see what my old competition is doing. Nothing big at all. Boring even, really."
