Valentine hadn't shown up for her shift at the shop.

Aphrodite didn't know ~~she'd been turned cute and furry~~ why, but with everyone around town dropping into these fits, she could maybe guess.

She'd heard ~~handwavily~~ about the Mayor's announcement for people to come to town hall, and she'd seen a sign about people gathering at the library to do research. The goddess of love was considering her options.

One, town hall, where she could put her non-existent first aid skills to work.

Second, the library. Riiiight.

Or third, she could leave the island. Go back to Cupid's. Or even back to Paris. Ares was still in South America, too busy at the moment to look for her. Why should these mortal concerns become hers? She could go anywhere. Monte Carlo sounded good, or even Las Vegas. . .

Thoughts of Vegas made her think of Mary, and Max, and Dinah. . .

Images of Dinah and Raven collapsing filled her mind, and she took a deep breath.

"Right."

Research had never been something she was good at unless it involved perfumes and incense. So with a determined face she started off towards Town Hall.

She just had to find it first.

"You just answered you own question," Chloe pointed out gently. "You make people feel love and lust, you don't make them take spontaneous trips into sleep without a purpose. If the things I've read are true, you always have a reason for your spells. They pair people up. They don't put them to sleep and scare an entire village and school."

This was a lot of words for Chloe to say... and all without her usual stutter.

In her long years of life, there had been an occasion or two when the only reason involved in Aphrodite's spells had been her own vanity.

But this wasn't the time to point this out, and besides, she'd been good lately. She'd been trying.

Stopping, she turned to Chloe.

"But what good does that do now? Putting a love spell on someone won't keep them from falling asleep and having these awful nightmares."

Not that she hadn't thought about trying.

"I don't think any spell can," Chloe agreed. "But having your presence, your beauty near them when they're sleep might help them combat the nightmares they're having when the fall asleep."

Tori would be amused at the fact she was talking so much and trying to tell a goddess that there was actually good she could do with this.

If Tori believed she had met a goddess.

Aphrodite blinked. And then blinked again.

Her presence. Her beauty. With just those words, this kid had suddenly made her feel like the goddess she was.

She smiled down at the girl. "Thanks, Chloe." Putting a hand on her shoulder, she squeezed gently. "You should come by my shop sometime. You'd be good for my ego." She winked.

"Come on. Show me where this place is so I can try and do something to help."
