Caritas; Wednesday evening

Penelope came into work just in time to see Tino taping up a zombie who'd lost a limb. And a few fingers.

This would be morbid did she not already witness this on several occassions previously.

She settled herself behind the bar and poured herself a scotch. She felt like a good buzz tonight. No particular reason why.

Caritas is open.

"Dude, when have I ever, like, provoked anyone?" Hurley said.

"Okay, Hurley. I am so not a 'dude'." She couldn't quite get used to him calling her that. "Why would he be mean to you then just to be mean?"

Hurley shrugged. "He said he wasn't a nice person," he said.

"You shouldn't associate with him." It was all she could think of to say to that.

And quite possibly she would have a word with Chuck next time she saw him. If she got up enough nerve that is.

"I don't, really," Hurley said. "I only run into him here, mostly. I'm no glutton for punishment." He smiled at her.

"No... of course you're not." She smiled at him and then took a sip of her drink.

"So, like, I was thinking," Hurley said. "Maybe we should do that outside picnic thing soon. It's starting to get colder."

"We should," she replied, staring at him. "Or we could try the sex thing again."

The scotch enabled her, yes.

"That we shouldn't be outside for that," Hurley said. "Could be awkward."

"I don't know. A private spot in the park. Late at night. On a thick soft blanket." She shrugged nonchalantly. "Sounds thrilling to me."

Hurley's jaw hung open. He didn't really have words for a reaction.

"Did I say something wrong?" she asked innocently.

"That sounded hot," Hurley said, finally able to speak.

"I think it could be," she said, feeling warm just thinking about it. Her curiosity was still so fresh and innocent. She wanted to experiment with being daring.

"...I don't have a good blanket for that," Hurley said. "I need to get a blanket."

"Blankets are easy to ome by. I think I should buy something pretty to wear." A slight pause. "Something thin and silky and clingy."

Hurley smiled so wide. "Best. Girlfriend. Ever."

She laughed. "Yes, you say that now, but the date hasn't actually happened yet."

"Well, that's just when I get to confirm it all over again," Hurley said, finishing his drink.

Penelope actually blushed. "I'm looking forward to it."

"...So we're actually gonna... yeah?" Hurley said. "In the park?"

"If you're daring enough," she challenged. "Are you?"

"I can be daring," Hurley said, a little too eagerly. "Really."

Mainly he just wanted to keep Penelope happy. He was, admittedly, a little scared of the... exhibitionism.

He better speak up. She'd be upset to learn he didn't really care for her idea, but did it anyway to please her.

"I love adventure!"

Hurley was already whipped with a capital Whip. Just out of his own insecurity.

"Yeah," Hurley said. "And I love you."
