MCA Lobby; Monday [ 09/14 ].

The new furniture that Rachel had ordered should be coming in later today, tomorrow at the latest, so that just meant that the old furniture would have to go until she decided exactly what to do with it. She figured she could sell it to that second hand shop, but she wasn't quite ready to let it go yet. You never knew when you might need extra furniture; who knew, after all, what those tenants of hers got into?

So the door of the HoloSuite was open, since she still didn't understand any use for the room except for as storage and she, in jeans and a t-shirt, contemplated the furniture and how they needed to get from point A to point B.

"All this furniture!" she announced. "If only I had some strong and kind person to help me with talking it all the way over to the storage room!"

She paused, waiting for the request to be granted.

Unfortunately, she was impatient, so when some help didn't immediately materialize, she sighed heavily. Well, if wishes were cattle, they'd all be eating steak, and if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself, anyway. Begrudgingly, Rachel confided in herself that the strongest individuals also had the heaviest weights on their hands, then she crouched down to loop her fingers under the bottom of a chair and heaved.

She got the chair about an inch before she stopped, let out a breath, and wiped her forehead. "Hoooo. Time for a break."

She plopped into the chair and thought about she could use some lemonade.

This was going to be a very long process.

While perhaps not quite on time to save Rachel from any and all effort, he did arrive shortly thereafter. All those muscles had to be good for something, right?

"Heya, Rachel... you redecorating?"

"It would be must unchivalrous for me not to off my help," he grinned. "You just tell me what you want wear."

He rolled up his sleeves (which helped show off his arms) and waited for orders.

"As the lady commands," Max gave her an exaggerated bow and examined the couch for a moment, trying to figure out the best way to pick it up by himself. Fortunately he had long arms and big hands, and he managed to get a decent grip.

Then in one smooth motion (and drawing on his earthcrafting skills) he lifted it and moved carefully toward the indicated room. "Just anywhere?" he called over his shoulder.

"Yes, ma'am," he called back as he maneuvered the couch into the corner.

"What's next?" he asked as he walked back into the cluttered lobby.

"Not a problem." He went ahead and moved a couple of those before pausing to check on her. "Keep going?" he asked. He'd managed to work up a slight sweat, his thin shirt clinging just a bit to him.

If she's going to use a voice like that then Max most definitely didn't mind. He chuckled and picked up another chair. "As you wish, my lady."

Max was a professional soldier. He could haul furniture all day without really tiring himself out.

"Compared to what they make me do back home, this is a break," Max laughed. He figured about two thirds of the way into the job he'd worked up enough of a sweat to look properly break-ready, though.

"You said something about lemonade?" he asked, using the back of his arm to wipe his forehead.

"I'll be here," Max informed her. Might as well move some more furniture while he waited. Not only would it pass the time, but he was pretty sure that's part of what the delay was for.

Max didn't respond immediately. He was too busy appreciating Rachel's change, and he wasn't really trying to hide the fact. "For a glass of lemonade and your company, I'd be willing to do a lot more than move some furniture."

Oh, yeah. Talk about subtle.

Max took the glass and drank about half of it before responding. "Then you really should call me next time," he suggested, one eyebrow raised ever so slightly.
