The park, Sunday evening

Claudia hadn't originally planned on dressing up, this year, but the realization that there'd be no foster families to tell her she was too old or that Halloween was a capitalist plot (she'd had some odd foster families) had spurred her on.

She'd been originally thinking she'd go as Wendy the Werewolf Stalker, but then she'd found a gorgeous red fox/wolf costume at the store and just had to have it. . . .

Which would be why the park now smelled like a college dorm*, as Claudia the maned wolf stalked about, chasing squirrels and ducks and marking her territory.

[* like cannabis, per wikipedia. Open! Claudia promises not to actually catch any radio squirrels.]

"Okay," he decided, because if it was a student he guessed they wouldn't mind being able to explain themselves. Then again, the wolf acted very wolfish... or puppy-ish.

"Right. Look, I'm gonna go over there for a moment," he motioned towards some bushes. "And I'll be back, I'll just be different, bit it's still me, okay?"

Yeah, that'd prepare the wolf for it. Really.

"Okay," Jake slowly rose to his feet. "You stay here, okay?" he said as he stepped away.

Yeah, this was going to go so well.

"Just wait there," Jake said, pointing towards the ground and he quickly turned and loped towards the brushes.

It was kind of sad he didn't see the butt wiggling. He could have teased her so much about it if he ever figured things out.

And then he had a wolf on his heels. "Okay no, not what I meant," he chided, squatting down. "You stay here and I'll be right back," he repeated, knowing fully well it wasn't going to do anything.

"Yeah, I don't think you're a student," Jake snorted and he reached out, continuing the game of trying to catch her now.

"You're demanding," he told the wolf with a snort, but he could play this game and he jumped forward to try and catch him.

Maybe. Shhhh.

"Hey, that's cheating," Jake objected. It wasn't like he could get under those the way she did.
