Fixer-Uppers [all day]

Ben had been working quite happily on his datapad for an hour without incident.

Then he accidentally clicked on an ad and ended up in an endless loop of quizzes ("Do You Care Too Much?" "What Kind of Lover Are You?" "Are You With the Right Person?" "The Kinsey Test Made Simple!!1!").

"Go away, go away, go away..." Ben muttered, blushing hard.

Fixer-Uppers was open! And embarrassed.

To say that Jason didn't want to be here would be an understatement. But, he also didn't want to leave Karla hanging, or get in trouble for class, so here he was to help serenade Ben. Poor, poor Ben.

"Hey," he said, smiling at Karla when he saw her. "Ready to embarrass yourself for a good grade?"

"It's Ben!" Karla said cheerfully. "He'll like our singing. Or else."

The look she leveled on Ben suggested the 'or else' might involve a decided lack of ice cream in the future.

It was a complicated look, okay?

"But I'm ready whenever you are."

Jason was hoping threatening Ben further wouldn't be necessary, so he nodded to Karla. "I'm as ready as I'm going to be, I think. This might not be appropriate at the moment, but we're hoping you'll just go with us," he said to Ben, taking a deep breath before starting to sing. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..."

He was, at least, as on key as anyone ever got with this song.

"Happy birthday dear Beeeeeeeeen," Karla sang along, trying not to blush herself into oblivion. "Happy birthday to you!"

She had years of lessons under her belt, so between her and Jason, the song itself didn't sound too bad. It was just...weird.

Jason didn't blame Ben for the look on his face, not at all. "We had to sing to someone for our Teamwork class," he explained. "You're the lucky song recipient." Lucky was totally the right word, right?
