Pre-Spring Break 'Not Girlkissy' Slumber Party, Friday Evening

A room at the community center had been set up for a perfectly innocent slumber party that was in no way intended to promote girlkissy. Streamers were tacked to the walls, a buffet table held a range of late-night nibblies with a bias toward the sweet end of the spectrum, and a sound system played current pop and dance songs. Blankets, pillows and sleeping bags were heaped neatly along one wall, ready to be put into use by anyone with the inclination to stay the night.

Depending on your inclinations, this was either an innocent celebration of the start of spring break, or the ideal way for Fandom's young women to explore their Sapphic urges. Either way, it promised to be a good night.

"I only cut it a few months ago," Quinn confided. "Some days, I still wake up and get surprised there's not more there. But I think you should try cutting yours. I bet it'd look fine, and if it didn't, hair grows."

"Maybe," Dany acquiesced. "Where I'm from, it's a sign of weakness to cut one's hair, at least amongst the men. The greatest warriors have the longest braids, because when you're defeated, it's cut off. I think part of that might have been ingrained in me." A pause, and then, "Of course, I...still think you'd make a great warrior, despite your shorter hair. Like I said, it's just men, and it's just a tradition that's stuck in my head."

"No offense taken," Quinn said, shaking her head. "But I can see where that'd stay with you. Except ... doesn't the hair get in their way when they're doing warrior stuff?"

The way Quinn saw it, loose hair was a pain when you were cheering, and that wasn't nearly as violent. (Usually.)

"They keep it braided back at all times," she assured Quinn. "My husband's braid reached his knees. It'd never been cut."

Was she a touch proud of that still? Yes. Even if this week all thoughts of Drogo carried a twinge of guilt.

"You'd think it would, though," she added. "My brother certainly used to use mine as a means to get my attention when we were growing up. I'd be worried in battle that a careless arm might yank at hair that long and that would be it."

Quinn bit her lip at the mental image Daenerys's description of her husband had created. Hi, guys with long hair...

"He sounds hot," she decided, then shook her head to remind herself to stop coveting. "I guess if you're enough of a badass to get hair that long, you don't need to worry about people tugging on it."

"He was," Dany said with a small sigh. She only barely understood the meaning of 'hot' here, or 'badass,' but she could guess. "He was huge, and muscled, and swarthy and bearded. And competent."

She had a vague idea of who Quinn was dating. She assumed 'muscled,' at least, was a key factor in attractiveness, there.

"It's a bad week to think of him, for a different reason than usual." Because then she had to go lie down and think of Westeros lest she get carried away by thoughts of all the sex she used to have. Even if she'd moved on, somewhat, there were still itches that Drogo would have made sure to scratch, so to speak.

Quinn managed not to groan at the description of Dany's husband, but there was a definite twinge. He sounded like he'd play into her bad boy thing, and competence made him extra-hot.

"Yeah," she said sympathetically. "It's ... easy to feel lonely. I'm glad we're taking the trip soon. Maybe the island will get betetr while we're away."

"It better," Dany said, her eyes narrowing a little. "I'm not sure what the general populace will do with another week like this. I've...done all right, but even my nerves are wearing thin."

"Maybe this will help," Quinn offered. "A night out with the girls. It's all ... innocent."

More like the start of a thousand pornos.

"It's certainly better than going mad in my room trying to keep busy and occupied enough that I don't embarrass myself," Dany agreed, sighing. "They keep the boys too close, here. I may have to move to the stables next."

She hadn't yet thought that being around girls might be nearly as bad.

Quinn shouldn't have even wasted a thought on how she'd always found horseback riding pretty sexy.

"Stables!" she offered instead. "All that ... nice clean healthy straw."

Straw, hay, rolling in the hay... She facepalmed. "I'm sorry. My mind isn't working today."

"No one's is," she offered sympathetically. "You don't want to know where that image took me."

Because she knew how to ride quite well. Both horses and...ahem.

"I think I can imagine it," Quinn said, holding up a hand. "Thanks."
