Furnado Animal Shelter; Thursday, 12/07.

Sidon rather enjoyed being around all the animals at the shelter, and he particularly liked the birds, few as they were, who would let out friendly little chirps and squawks throughout the day, sometimes musical little trills that made him smile when he heard them. But today...today, all those noisy little feathered friends had really outdone themselves. He wasn't sure what it is, but all those twitterings turned into a beautiful, rousing, incredible song the likes of which he'd never heard before. It was magnificent!

...the first five times, anyway. But when the birds kept repeating the Carol of the Bells over and over and over, the thrilling serenade was quickly losing its charm.

"Yes, yes, my sweet avian friends, your music today is quite lovely, but perhaps you might consider a break? Wouldn't want you to wear out your voices? Please, just a few moments of--"

As he spoke, they appeared to heed his words and stopped. Sidon breathed out a sigh of relief, soaking in the silence...

Before they started up again, and, despite his best effort to remain calm, let out a frustrated cry, clenched fists, his temper on the brim. A displeased yowl from one of the cats brought him back though, sympathetic and agreeing, and he breathed out again.

"Now, now, kitty, I know it would be very easy to just eat them and be finished with it and have very happy bellies and blissfully free ears, but that is no way to solve a problem that...patience...extreme, dedicated, strenuous patience...will take care of in due time."

What was worse was that after he'd left the shelter, he would be the one singing it under his breath as the blasted thing wouldn't leave his brain.

Furnado is open!
