Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [02/12].
A week like this was having an unexpected effect on Shunsui, in that it was actually making him want to get back to training, which made a bit more sense if one understood exactly what (or rather who) his training involved. And if he were still back home in the Soul Society, he could easily slip into Jinzen for days, perhaps even the entire week, without even thinking about it, but here on Earth, where he had a much more fragile gigai to maintain (a gigai, one might argue, that was entirely to blame for any of this even having an effect on him at all), it was a bit more difficult, and the nearly two days he'd spent in meditation and training had taken enough of a toll that perhaps he'd better take a break.
And then he realized it was Wednesday (it honestly hadn't felt like he'd been gone that long) and that maybe he should probably head into the store, after taking some time to tend to and bandage up some of the wounds he'd sustained in the meantime, each and every one of them worth it, and all but that one mean little cut right underneath his right eye (Katen almost always aimed for that spot, and she almost always managed to get it, too) could be conveniently concealed by his robes, and he supposed it was back to work, back to the mortal world.
Well, back to work was putting it lightly. He'd leave that to Apu, who seemed glad for the distraction, anyway, and he figured he'd spend most of his time just catching up on the sleep that his gigai needed, but, honestly, once he got settled, he found himself inspired in a different way.
And he actually started working on his book.
None of it formed much of a plot at the moment, but some of these scenes were turning out sodirty good, who even needed plot?

Just, in slightly different a way than it usually did.
She still ended up heading to the counter first, though. Force of habit or just the draw of Shunsui, even Octavia couldn't really say. "Hey, Shunsui," she said, sounding practically chipper by her own, mild standards.
She hadn't slept much last night, but that didn't make it a bad night in the slightest.

He was running a bit behind on his naps, though the enthusiasm in his greeting didn't show it.
"Ahhhh, Octavia-chan ♥ ♥~~~!" He looked up from his work, with that familiar lazy, crooked smile. "Konnichiwa ♥! Good morning~~ ♥!"
It was not morning. Or was it? Shunsui was having a very difficult time with such a silly little concept like time right now.
"And aren't you looking positively radiant today," he added, his voice dropping quite a bit, "hato ♥."
And, sure, he would have said something like that regardless, but it did seem exceptionally true today, and he was making absolutely no effort to conceal his appreciation of it, either.

Maybe it was for the best that she already had solid plans to get back to.
Still, she smirked, just a little but perhaps a little more obvious, a little more sharp than most days. "Enjoy it while you can," she rasped. "I'm not staying long."
no subject
A cup that he was already pouring, yes.
"Or two...or three...or five ♥! We have yet to get to our eight cups, Octavia-chan ♥."
no subject
Well, it was usually pretty easy to get to two.
no subject
"Two," he stated, and, with the cup now filled, lifted it and held it out for her to take, "is an excellent compromise ♥. Though you know I simply must ask, Octavia-chan...why the hurry ♥? Have you got plans today, mmmm ♥?"
He was very confident that he already knew the answer to that question, of course.
no subject
But also because it was maybe a little obvious.
"I do," Octavia said, because there was little point in pretending otherwise. She reached for the cup, knowing full well her usual little lingering touch would seem a little more intense to her today - and welcoming the idea. "Out in the preserve."
no subject
"The preserve is beautiful this time of year ♥," he said softly. "And what is we plan do do out there ♥? Frighten the deer and leave the trees shaking in their own roots ♥?"
no subject
She snorted softly. "Something like that," she said, murmuring the words. "It's a camping trip. Overnight."
no subject
"Not,"he said, having leaned in with the hand-off as well so there was barely any need to raise his voice much beyond a low, deep rumbler, "all by yourself, I hope ♥..."
no subject
Usually, going by herself was practically her preferred way, but, well. This week.
no subject
For the most part, anyway.
"I do hope you won't mind indulging my selfishness in wanting to keep you here at least a bit longer before you go rushing off into the wilderness, Octavia-chan ♥. You walzing through that door has easily been the highlight of my day ♥."
no subject
Sadly that would've been a little more complicated than she was willing to get. But it would've been very pretty.
But, anyway. "I'm not in that much of a rush," she assured him in a hushed murmur, her fingers finally finding the actual cup itself, though with no less touching still involved. "Besides, I still have to get everything I'm buying. So it's gonna be a while."
no subject
That last was a perfect accompaniment to his lifted cup, his tilted smirk, a wink of his eye, and an appreciative sip.
no subject
"Whatever that may be," she half-echoed before her own sip. "At the very least, you should probably show me where everything is."
She knew where everything she was buying was located in the store, just about. So it really wasn't about the showing, itself.
no subject
Did he just try to make asking about the length of a list sexy? Why, yes. Yes he did.
Which was actually nothing new, so...
no subject
But, hey: "It's a decent length."
Octavia didn't often try innuendo on for size, so that was pretty special.
no subject
He leaned a bit more comfortably on the counter, lifting his cup for a sip as he arched a brow. "And what's our first item on the list, Octavia-chan ♥?"
Not that he was about to get started on their little supplies scavenger hunt quite yet, but he was in the sort of mood where even listening to Octavia name things off a list was incredibly enticing.
no subject
Instead, she took a sip of her own, and said, "Chocolate."
That was a good one to start with, right?
