Pajama Prom 202 | Community Center | Friday Evening

Pajama Prom was, clearly, the best prom theme!

And, if not, it was at least one that was both incredibly playing with the island's sheer devotion and undying love for blanket forts and pillows and stuffed toys just made for cuddling!

Really, aside from the glitter and the food, student council had barely had to do any set up! The island had been deeply obliging for what the signs that were positively drenched in glitter declared was:

Hope your pajamas are safe for everyone to look at because if you're wearing anything else, well, you're dreadfully overdressed!

Show up, gawk at everyone else's pajamas, flaunt the fact that you're in pajamas at prom and try to decide which blanket fort is your blanket fort for the night!

There's also a basket of soft, light gloves for people to wear with a sign proclaiming that they were free to take.

Thankfully, Tisarwat had learned very, very early on that the Radchaai custom of sleeping without a shirt, even in shared quarters, was not exactly considered appropriate on this planet.

Shirts were necessary, but no one wore gloves? Okay, Earth.

But she was rather comfy in her simple tank top and a baggy pair of pants, both of which she felt complimented the lankiness of her particularly boyish figure quite well.

And gloves, of course.

She might be in pajamas, but she wasn't a savage.

She thought of doing her hair again, like she did for homecoming, but figured wearing her braids down and loose was more fitting with the theme.

Was it weird to be wearing pajamas in the community center? Absolutely. Was Tip letting that stop her from rocking an adorable summery nightgown? Not at all.

The fact that it wasn't cute too differently from a prom dress was a bonus, yes.

It was... more than a little strange to show up wearing her nightclothes but, like, at the same time it was kind of exhilarating too!

Nina's nightgown was wonderfully flowy and her hair was super cute and she beamed at how wonderful--and cozy--the whole party looked.

Ulysses was wearing a tee shirt and some pretty ordinary flannel pajama bottoms.

... And a black silk robe on top. What, you didn't think he'd dress ordinary all the way for this, did you? Absolutely no chance.

He grabbed a cup of punch and then just looked around for a while. Seemed about right for how he might've expected Fandom to do prom.

Who had two thumbs, a yellow tank top, yellow socks, and the best chocobo boxers ever?

This guy!

And, sure, it was WAY different than what he usually wore to these dances, but that made it, like, kinda liberating? And, honestly, after the whole cupid debacle, he wasn't even that embarrassed about wearing next to nothing in front of a whole group of his peers!

Sabine didn't actually sleep in anything special, but she also probably wasn't expected to just wear what she actually slept in here? Which had led to a whole thing where she'd learned that there weren't really pajamas for sale that she wanted to go to prom in, and there were so many things wrong with that sentiment. Plus there was a date involved, and this was still easier than actually getting dressed up or wearing a skirt.

She'd settled for bright. What, she liked pink.

So...it turned out Astrid did have a use for all those old, vintage-style, Golden Age of Hollywood pajamas that Claire had been so fond of after all, probably looking like some sort of poor man's Veronica Lake as she drifted into the prom feeling much more awkward than she'd had anticipated in a very nice Myrna Loy-inspired nightgown.

Claire would have loved it.

Which only made it that much more awkward.

The pajamas Jules was wearing were not what she usually wore for sleepwear, no, but she'd handwavily seen them somewhere at some point and they'd made her laugh, and pizza was rather one of her favorite things about this odd, odd island, so.

Camden, noticeably, was nowhere to be seen. She'd opted out of the festivities in favor of prowling around the Preserve, tonight.

Wayne, very much appearing in his usual flannel and jeans that fucking fit, at one point figured he should go and get some punch fer both himself and fer Shuri, which meant lingering a moment over the punch as he tried to decide whether it was better to go fer the regular one...or the one that was clearly spiked.

There were truly some of life's more difficult decisions.

Duke was, in fact, wearing pajamas. Mostly because he'd run out yesterday to get some.

Whether they were proper or not was for someone else to judge. He was appropriately covered, which was the important part (and not at all how he usually slept).

Octavia was wearing one of her trusty black tank tops with black pajama pants with a white butterfly print on them, so yes, you could probably say she was wearing proper pajamas. Not that she herself would have been much of a judge of that.

She was also looking around with what passed for open curiosity by her standards. This was... not exactly the kind of prom she'd seen in the movies, no.

Since this was a social interaction, Magnus had to go and get actual pajamas. And then couldn't find the appropriate bear themed ones, which left him dressed up like a dinosaur.

He still somehow had his inventory with him, though.

Not only did Summer have a duty to chaperone as a proud and active member of the faculty, but she also would insist that she had a duty to make it to prom as a former prom queen. That was how it worked, right? If anything, she'd have to support whoever else would gain what had always been in her mind an incredible prestigious title and congratulate her as a former Fandom High prom queen herself.

She definitely had her fingers crossed for someone in particular, but she didn't want to play favorites, or anything...

Oh, and, of course, she was dressed up on theme, in something that was still flirty and super cute and befitting a former prom queen, without being....you know...because...well...chaperone...
