Yeah that last sentence was jibberish to him. Well, he knew what it meant to cut a bitch.

"Magnus," Silver answered. "And then he told me about my restaurant."

Which was traumatizing.

"Apparently there's a chain of shitty seafood restaurants named after me." See this face? This face was not amused.

"It's a bit humiliating," he said. "Long John Silver wasn't created for that purpose."

That was because Silver needed to compartmentalize in order to keep his sanity.

"A crew mate of mine picked me to build a legend upon, in order to keep our rebellion against England alive," he said, sighing. "I knew nothing about it until I came back to Nassau and heard of the pirate king Long John Silver. It's a persona I'm supposed to live up to in public."

Which he was a little too good at and that scared him.

"So you can see where the whole restaurant thing is a little insulting."

Oh he would become very familiar with that next AU weekend, don't you worry.

"The what now?"

Silver groaned. "Why am I being punished?"

"At least some people around here haven't made the connection yet," he said. "I have no reason to trust you but if you ever speak of me to anyone I hope you'll do me the favor and try to make me seem more impressive than the owner of a bad restaurant and an underwear inventor."

"Good lad," Silver said approvingly. "And in return I shall only give you the highest praise."

"You'd be surprised at what I can convince people to believe," Silver said. "It helps you're a pleasant enough fellow; that goes a long way when it comes to spinning a story."
