Midsummer Festival - The Beach, Saturday Evening

Sure it was a week late. And sure it wasn't even a traditional Midsummer festival because there weren't any games or people selling fried foods or screaming eyeballs in the sky.

But Magnus was pretty darn proud of what had been tossed together for a fun costume party on the beach.

With a big, mildly terrifying wicker bear waiting to be set on fire because something something Midsommar. He wasn't sure of the details because scary movies weren't his jam.

Either way, it would be good, clean fun!

"Yeah, something stronger would have been nice," Seivarden said with a grin, aware that was probably not quite what Lucifer meant.

"And something with a little flavor," Lucifer agreed.

"Yes, but you only drink it for the taste," Seivarden said.

"Which Magnus should've taken in consideration!"

"Oh, of course, I forgot," Seivarden said with a smirk. "I suppose he should also have made sure that the food is edible. It won't be hard for us to throw a better party."

"Apparently it's Duke's way of punishing him for not paying him," Lucifer said, smirking. "Don't worry. I'm actually paying Duke to cater."

"No finger food," Seivarden said. "Possibly a small stick with meat on it so Amaya knows that I care about her."

"Duke already assumed that finger food was off the table," Lucifer said breezily, "He's doing seafood for us."

"I knew he had good taste," Seivarden said, prepared to forgive Duke for the past few weeks.

"I gave him a chance to prove he can do more than basic diner food, like he keeps going on about."

Seivarden wasn't a kid so she wasn't going to hug Lucifer out of excitement, and she was aware that it was a little silly to care about this, but for quite some time no one would have showed up if she had tried to arrange a party.

"I'm looking forward to this," she said.

"Suppose we'll actually have to make it worthwhile, then," Lucifer said, lifting his bottle.

Seivarden raised hers.

"Were you considering not to? And ruin your reputation on the island?"

"Could've just left some booze on the beach and not told anyone who it was from," Lucifer pointed out. "People here'll start a party over anything."

"That's not a party, that's getting drunk on the beach," Seivarden said.

"Or what teenagers would call a party, yes."

"Do you want to attract the teenagers?" Seivarden asked. "I thought you didn't like them."

Lucifer sighed. "I'm posing the hypothetical of a half-assed party where we drop drinks on the beach and run, and those preposterous creatures roll in to take advantage of it. Hypothetical being the chief word here. Do keep up."

"But why would we do that?" Seivarden said.

"Entertainment as the primitive sacks eat each other alive in an explosion of teenage drama?"

Seivarden paused.

"That sounds like something between horrifying and voyeuristic. But I guess I see your point. Just send one of them a secret treasure map."

"See, causing chaos, now you get it," Lucifer said, laughing.

"I don't have a lot of experience causing chaos," Seivarden said. "But I have a few suggestions for who to make getting it started."
