Midnight Manor Boarding House, Tuesday Morning

Watts and Steven had discussed putting together a little breakfast spread for the boarding house's residents as a sort of start-of-summer-semester celebration. Which, yes, had officially begun yesterday, but they'd OOCly been busy, and thus it was happening today.

The offerings weren't elaborate: a few different types of bread, muffins, and bagels, along with spreads of various kinds. Fresh fruit and granola bars were also available to grab, and of course beverages: a pot of coffee, a kettle with hot water for tea, and a pitcher of orange juice.

This could all be found in the dining room, with the kitchen of course available should anyone wish to make themselves anything more involved.

Steven shook his head at the word mutant, since it didn't resonate for him either. "The eyes I did know about. Of course around here having something that looks a bit different isn't that uncommon. Perhaps it's more common where he's from?"

Arden nodded. "But he seemed surprised that I didn't know his eyes meant something specific," she said. "Apparently they're a sign that he's a mutant, even though he doesn't have eye-based powers specifically?"

"That's interesting," Steven said, because he agreed that it was weird even though he couldn't read narrative. "We've no mutants where I'm from but perhaps those things are more known in worlds where they are? Where I'm from physical changes are usually due to being aliens, or radiation."

"Yes," Steven said "Animals with an extra toe, that sort of thing. Though I suppose all of evolution is a mutation when you think about it. Some feature that came up by accident then turned out to be an advantage."
