The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

Tiny had some kind of... vacation photos? From last week?

Octavia had (sort of) politely declined looking at them. She hadn't slept great, and wasn't in the mood. Also the fighting on Monday ~~which she'd definitely been at, despite RL brains~~ had been a little too close to her actual home, so... There was that, too.

Anyway, she was at work. Making some kind of caffeinated mocktail for herself, but there. Present.

In flesh if not entirely in spirit.

Remy had spent his drinking Wednesdays at Caritas so far, but he wasn't looking for quite that sort of crowd tonight. And while his cats made excellent company, he wasn't looking for drinking at home, either.

So he hit up the other bar.

"A beer, s'ils vous plait," he ordered, flicking Tiny a small look before zeroing in on Octavia instead. "No piano tonight?"

"Since I'm not a head taller," Octavia rasped, as she went to grab that beer for him, "and a man, and know how to play... No."

Everyone knew those were Lucifer's main qualities, clearly.

"See, now, two of those a body can pick up on on sight. That last one though . . . don't think I count as a fool for not knowing that just looking at you."

Octavia gave a faint snort. "Tuesdays and Fridays," she said. "Those are Lucifer's nights."

"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind in the future. So Wednesdays are yours, hmm?" He offered his hand. "Remy LeBeau, cherié. And you?"

Octavia set his beer down in front of him before taking his hand.

"Octavia."

No last name, and no pleasantries either. Not that she was impolite about it by any stretch of the imagination, other than that.

"Pleasure," Remy said for her. He accepted the beer and took a long sip. "You got the air of a long term resident, non?"

"Depends on your math," Octavia replied, with a vague shrug. Before thinking about it for a second - and shrugging again. "Though I guess at this point every math points to yes."

Remy nodded. "Haven't stayed in one place that long in . . . ages. Must be nice."

"Sometimes it is," Octavia replied, reaching for a glass for herself. "And sometimes you have a fight against weird, giant landmarks practically at your front door."

Of course, that was on the milder side of what the island had put her through over the years, but Remy was a random stranger, so...

He sure was.

"Think I missed that one," he noted. "Was that what all the wandering-island thing was about?"

"I guess?" Octavia replied. "All I really know is they were making a mess of the boardwalk."

"And you took offense to this," Remy guessed.

"We live on a boat in the port," Octavia replied, by way of explanation. "It was a little hard not to take offense."

For violence.

For lurking.
