Pam was beginning to get used to the trip here. The cabin in the swamp was nice, but prone to unexpected attacks from all kinds of individuals. The shop, on the other hand, was quiet, cosy and safe.

And in the mornings, she could go out back and work in the garden. It had exploded with life over the past few months, growing vast oceans of flowers and a tree that already stood as tall as the ground floor walls.

She got her hands into the dirt that morning. They stayed there for quite a while, the back door open so she could hear anyone coming into the shop.
