Being from New York, Tim had a slightly different idea of big snowfall, but still this wasn't too shabby.

When he saw the girl skating on the pond, he paused to watch.

"Looks like fun."

"It is! Whooaaa-" Whump! And Dinah's skates slid out from beneath her again. "Ow. Mostly." She clambered back to her feet and tried again, being careful around a soaring pink bird.

Tim decided to do something, possibly really stupid. He went out on the ice without any skates. The idea was to slip and slide after all.

"Tell my mother I love heeeeerrrrrrr!" He cried jokingly as he threw himself forward and slid on his stomach.

Dinah laughed at the older guy, and watched some of the flamingos gracefully do figure eights out of his way. "Happy landings!"

Yay someone realized he wasn't a high schooler!

He stopped about halfway across the pond. "I bet I could get all the way across." he mused aloud.

Karla recognized the guy from 'Dite's buffet and waved. Had she known his thoughts, she would have agreed about the assessment of 'big snowfall.' "Do you skate?" she asked.

"It's been awhile." he said. He'd been twice at Rockafeller center when he was younger. "Also I don't have any skates. So, this would pretty much just be sliding. How about you?"

"Glacia is very far north," Karla said with a smile, executing a graceful twirl on her skates. "We have mountains, lochs, and an excessive amount of winter. If you want to get anywhere outside during the winter, it's either on skates or skiis."

"Skiing I've never tried." he admitted. "Though I've seen some folks use them to get around during New York Winters. Is Glacia on this planet?"

"Remind me why I agreed to this?" Griff asked, standing very still in his skates as he watched the far more able flamingos dance about.

"'Cause it's seasonal and festive and we didn't know there'd be pink birds mocking us?" Dinah said, tottering over to him, clip-clop, clip-clop.

"Right, seasonal," he repeated, sliding forward a half step and waving his arms to keep his balance. "It's not fair you do so well at this."

"You call this well?" Dinah asked, still swaying with every step, feet skidding back and forth. She held out her arms to Griff, giggling. "I think it's not fair the flamingos are the Ice Capades stars!"

"Is your rear numb yet from smacking the ice?" Griff grinned, taking another skid forward.

"Because we're not about to let a bunch of silly birds intimidate us off the ice?" Karla suggested, gliding by him as he asked.

"Easy for you to say," he muttered, still trying to keep his feet directly under him and not careening to one side.

Karla held out a hand to help steady Griff if he needed it. "Want to go around the pond a few times?" she offered.

"I'm here!" Karla called, holding up a large pillow. "With reinforcements!" She stopped short when she spotted the skating flamingos--they were damn impressive, even not taking into account the fact that they were ungainly pink birds most of the time.

She admired them for a few minutes and then hastily strapped on her own skates. Ice skating! Whee!

Dinah nearly did the splits, then waved frantically and managed to shush-shush-shush her way over to Karla. "I haven't fallen down as much as you'd think!"

She'd fallen down more. But details. Bruises were badges of effort.

"I brought the pillow anyway," Karla teased, waving it at her before vanishing it away. "When you mentioned skating, I hadn't thought you were going to invite them, too." She gestured at the flamingos.

"They were already doing Swan Lake before I got here. Or their version of it," Dinah said, shaking her head, and hopping up and down a tiny bit to keep warm. "And thank you for the pillow. I might, you know. Need to sit down." Ow. She grinned. "You going to show them how it's done?"

Spock had never skated before in his life, and this sort of cold would probably give him hypothermia after too long, even with him bundled up like he was making a trip to the Arctic, but this sort of weather was so foreign to him he'd felt he had to investigate. And as far as the skating went, well. He was trying to socialize.

Please do not mock the Vulcan too much.

Dinah looked up from her feet-- step, step, sliiiiide-- and managed not to crash into Spock by dint of falling over. "Ow! Hi, Spock."

The flamingos fluttered by in formation. Show-offs.

Spock was not actually skating, as said activity had proved treacherous. Instead he was very carefully standing balanced on his skates and trying not to move too much. So it was a good thing Dinah didn't crash into him. The results would have been sad. "Dinah. Do you require assistance?" The results of Spock attempting to assist her might also be sad, but he would make the attempt.

"Think I-- uh! Got it," she panted, getting to her knees, then slooooowly straightening to her feet, swaying in a non-existent breeze. "Thanks, though. You done this before?" Dinah asked, tilting her head. Since he hadn't moved yet, it was impossible to guess.
