Spock was working on a project at Stark Industries today. He was not 100% confident of the outcome, but science would never progress if one only did things one was sure of. He was proceeding with it as if it were an experiment, and hoping it did not explode at some point.

He was, of course, taking all appropriate safety measures.

Spock had deduced that the ownership of the business had changed again. Which was to say, he did not listen to the radio as a matter of course, but Rikku had been too fond of the previous sign to change it to something so streamlined. At any rate, he arrived promptly for work on Tuesday and began his usual tasks. As he had not yet met the new owner, he saw no reason to assume he did not have a job any longer, and every reason to proceed as normally.

Spock donned approximately half of his closet before reporting to work on Tuesday. It was not supposed to be this cold. It was definitely not supposed to be this cold in July, and looking over toward the mainland revealed a landscape reminiscent only of those holos he had seen of the ice planet near Vulcan. It would be most excellent if this state of affairs did not continue for long, because he suspected he would develop hypothermia if it did. Vulcans were not built for the cold.

The heat in Fixer-Uppers was cranked up full blast, and Spock was hard at work. The shop was open.

If Spock's research today had less to do with anything mechanical and more to do with the possible science behind spontaneous humanoid-to-animal transformation, who could blame him? He found it particularly fascinating that he had transformed into one of the few creatures found on Earth with hemocyanin-based blood, and if you dropped in on him, it was possible he would babble on about this at length before he fixed your iPod or whatever. Consider yourselves warned.

Spock was at work at Fixer Uppers on Tuesday, working on his ongoing projects and a few new things besides. He was in a pleasant enough mood for a Vulcan, inasmuch as Vulcans had moods (which was not really), this weather being much more suited to his physiology, and was running an experiment on how the computers were affected by the temperature.

If anyone could recall the dance from the night before, they would have thought that it was decorated tastefully compared to what was going on tonight. There were streamers, balloons and what appeared to be paper flower ornaments everywhere. All done in yellow and blue for the proud graduates of Fandom High, of course.

And there were the 'classic' songs from twenty years ago blaring loudly for people to dance or cringe to. Who knew Ke$ha and Justin Bieber would get to be classic pop music for future generations?

Just be glad there is an open bar.

Spock was at Fixer-Uppers on Tuesday, working on adjustments to the schematics for one of his projects. Some of the systems seemed sluggish to respond, but he was reluctant to attempt to tweak someone else's code, so he chalked it up to the 'early twenty-first century' factor and went on with it.

Spock was present at Fixer-Uppers on Tuesday, attempting to repair something without doing anything to it that wasn't usually possible in this time period.

This meant pausing in his work for some research, now and again. This island kept him a bit confused on what was and was not acceptable in 2010.

Spock hoped he was not going into Pon Farr did not want to talk about it. He just wanted to sit here and mess around with electronics, thank you very much. And that was exactly what he could be found doing.

It was most gratifying, Spock had to note, to be back to his proper state, and not least because it meant his roommate no longer had anything to freak out about. At any rate, even if he had retained his second X chromosome through today, that would have been no excuse for shirking his duties, and as he hadn't there was even less logic in it. So Spock could be found at Fixer-Uppers, home of a lot of tech and very little logic, striving to do his job.

Spock was doing a pretty admirable job of ignoring the new sign, he thought. It helped that it was outside and he was inside, but still: he knew it was out there. He knew. Luckily, there was something almost meditative about tinkering with machine parts, so that helped.

The store seemed to have acquired a new (hideous) sign at some point, and Spock suspected a new name, though he could not make heads nor tails of much of the text on the sign and, in fact, was not entirely certain it was in a Human language. Still, he saw no reason to not go in and get to work, so he did so in his usual efficient, no-nonsense manner.

Yesterday, it had been medicine. Today, engineering. This week was developing a theme of areas that were not his greatest expertise, though his engineering abilities had been honed substantially by his time working for Mr. Stark. Spock supposed that was a logical progression. He was at his station, tinkering with his project. Not that he would call it tinkering.

Spock seemed to be missing a few days from the week previous, which was most disconcerting, but he had been able to discern that he was not the only individual so affected--and, indeed, that others had had it worse than he. While the whole occurrence was fascinating, he had work to attend to, and saw no need to delay it. So he was at Stark Industries promptly on Tuesday, applying himself to his work in his usual industrious fashion.

After a conversation with Kitty earlier in the week about summer and beaches and partying in general, she and Warren had both agreed that throwing one such party as soon as possible would be a great idea!

And, while Warren hadn't really done this 'beach party' thing many times in his life, he'd decided to default to the tried and true, 'if it looks beach-like, spend money on it' strategy, just to be certain that he didn't mess this up. There was a cooler with assorted soft drinks inside, a BBQ and a small stack of hot dogs and hamburgers, there were salads and there were chips and, heaven help him, he'd invested in a beach volleyball net. Because if there was one thing that television had taught him about these things, it was that an afternoon on the beach wasn't complete without a rousing game of beach volleyball while played to a rousing montage of 80's rock on that handy portable radio he'd bought.

Yep. Beach volleyball. Probably shirtless. Or at least in bikinis.

... Look, he was a teenage boy. He was allowed to have some wishful thinking at least sometimes, right?

Spock arrived at Stark Industries promptly on Tuesday and set about performing his duties to the best of his ability. Now that the hallucinogenic fog had cleared, Spock deemed it logical to proceed to work in a timely fashion, rather than aborting said attempt to attempt to figure out what was going on. Hence, Spock was present at Stark Industries, tinkering with some of the materials.

From what he had learned from the radio broadcasts, Spock had gotten off relatively easy over the weekend, and was not complaining. He had chosen to look on the experience as an object lesson in respecting one's elders, even if his other self had been more...relaxed in his emotions than Spock would have expected.

Perhaps when he was over one hundred, he wouldn't care, either. Perhaps not. The person he had been had never been to a boarding school on Earth, therefore it was not merely his future self, and he could make no logical conclusions after his own future from what remained of his other self's memories. For the meantime he would be here, poking at a circuit board and pondering the ramifications of the events of the past weekend.

As Spock set about his tasks at work on Tuesday, he reflected on how quickly technology had changed in the past century or so on this planet, and how quickly it would continue to change. As Spock worked today at Stark Industries, he wondered whether or not he should include mention of the 'kissing booth' at the carnival this weekend in his next communique home. On the one hand, he should keep his parents apprised of his activities. On the other, he suspected his father would find it illogical, while he could not account for his mother's reaction. This concerned him. Not enough to effect his work, as that would be irresponsible of him, but nonetheless: it concerned him.

Science was so much easier than people.

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

Spock was alert and on the lookout for any stragglers from this weekend's infestation today. Yes, he was aware that none had been sighted yesterday, but he did not believe that reason to conclude they were entirely gone. More time would prove that. Therefore, as he went about his duties at Stark Industries, he kept a sliver of his attention open in the event of unexpected movement or sound, particularly in his peripheral vision. He was not wary so much as alert. Just in case.

The good news was that Spock hadn't died of hypothermia.

The bad news was that it was still remarkably cold, and Spock seemed to have contracted what Humans described as a 'cold.'

Still, he had obligations, so on Tuesday he reported to work, ready to spend the day sniffling, trying not to sneeze on anything important, and trying to not give away that he was kind of miserable, since Vulcans weren't supposed to do miserable. Admire his stoicism. Admire it!

While Spock was perfectly aware of the standard length of frigid temperatures on this part of Earth, and also perfectly aware that it would be illogical and unVulcan to wish for a deviation from that standard, every time he had to leave the shelter of the dorm, whether it be for the short dash over to the school or the longer trek down into town for his job or shopping, he found himself tempted to do so. Nonetheless, he prepared himself and stepped forth into the cold, and arrived precisely on time at Stark Industries, where he proceeded to fulfill his duties to the best of his ability, and wonder vaguely if some sort of weather control technology might be feasible.

Inasmuch as a Vulcan could 'hate' something, Spock hated winter. He'd had just enough time on Vulcan over the break to get accustomed to the hot, dry weather of his homeworld, and now he was back, and Tuesday morning saw him bundling up for the dash to his place of employment.

Once he arrived, he started tinkering with some of the less in-progress-looking materials, attempting to determine their purpose without breaking them. The technology of this time was, in its own way, fascinating.

Spock was not entirely certain how much longer he could tolerate this Earth winter, but it was required of him, so tolerate it he must. Spock, for the record, spent most of the weekend catching up on the Vulcan curriculum his mother had sent him, and due to having his nose stuck in a padd had little idea something strange had been going on--though he had noticed that his roommate seemed to experience some unusual temporary behavior alterations. He had assumed it was hormonal.

At any rate, he had survived the experience unscathed, and, upon arriving for work on Tuesday, set about performing whatever tasks needed doing in his usual efficient manner. Stark Industries was open.

Winter on Earth remained colder than Spock cared to think about, and he hadn't even had the benefit of a hot shower to fortify him this morning, as when he turned on the tap some sort of dairy-based spiced mixture had poured out instead of water. He hadn't thought it would be a good idea to wash in it.

Inasmuch as a Vulcan could be described as 'cranky,' that descriptor would certainly suit the one behind the desk at Stark Industries, but he was, nonetheless, present and ready to assist.

Spock had a player who was made of fail bundled up Tuesday morning and hurried through the streets to get to his job at Stark Industries on time. Today, at his work, Spock engrossed himself in his studies of the scientific developments of this period, so that he would have a better idea of what to expect--though some of the technology on display in Stark's labs did not seem to fit with what he was finding in historical resources. It was a fascinating conundrum, and one that would require further study.

While he was working on his research, he made the mistake of leaving his communication device unattended, meaning it was entirely possible Stark Industires would be announcing a sudden leap forward in cell phone technology in the near future. In the meantime, however, the aforementioned company was open for business.

Simply because most of the school had absconded from the island for their week off was no reason for Spock to neglect his duties. Besides, his mother had sent along the current materials being used by his class at his school on Vulcan, and he had quite a bit of catching up to do. He suspected catching up on astrophysics alone would occupy his time for much of today, if there was nothing else for him to do at the shop. Nonetheless, Spock was prepared to put his studies aside if anyone required his services.
