A secluded area on the beach, Friday afternoon

Bruce was conflicted. He couldn't figure out whether or not training to defend himself against psychic and telekinetic attacks alone on the beach with a girl he had been dating counted as an actual date. On one hand, nobody else was invited and she was a superhero. On the other hand, he wasn't sure how many other people would find this kind of thing kind of romantic. (He did, but he also knew he was a little messed up.)

He decided to play it safe. He wasn't going to let himself slide into an all-business mode like he normally would while training. That might scare Jean off.

[OOC: For the girl, please!]

It was on the beach, therefore... totally romantic.

Look, when you were a massive sparkly Sue that the writers love to kill a teenage mutant who was constantly fighting off the inevitable attack by the Brotherhood, you took things where you could.

Plus, she brought snacks.

"Hi!" God damn Cheerful whore ginger is a whore cheerful!

"It wasn't too hard." Yes, it totally was. "I brought something to eat in case we get hungry," she said, lifting up the backpack of food. Way too much food.

Pff. Like a bear could take them. Well, maybe of that bear was Chuck Norris...

"It works just fine," Jean replied, dropping the bag to the ground. "I just wasn't sure how long we'd be out here, so... better safe than sorry."

"Well." Jean frowned, hands on her hips as she tried to gather her thoughts. "How about with telepathy first? Unless you'd rather fight, of course."

Which might mean inexplicably wet shirtlessness, so... Jean was all for that.

Yes, punching was bad manners on a date. Unless you were Ant-Man.

OH SNAP.

"We can try it after," Jean promised, clinging to that potential shirtlessness. "Would you like to sit?"

"Well, however you'll be most comfortable," Jean replied, takign a seat as well. "How do you normally meditate?"

"I don't have to talk out loud once we get started," Jean replied. "All you need to do now is just, um, relax and we'll go from there."

Jean nodded, closing her eyes as she very carefully reached out and touched him inappropriately touched his mind. Giving it enough force to make herself known, but not going past that.

Because not everyone knew how to handle this right off the bat.

"You okay?" Jean asked, mostly just testing his normal defenses at the moment.

"You have to say it," Jean replied with a small grin. "I'm not inside your head yet. You have to let me in for that."

Which isn't to say she couldn't force it, but... that would be rude.

There was a pause before she added. "Or think it really loud when I'm paying attention to you. But I try not to with people. It gets really noisy otherwise."

[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Ready to go a little further?"

[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com 2010-03-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Jean nodded, closing her eyes again and pushing into the most surface part of his mind. /Bruce?/

/Something like that,/ Jean replied, looking around for him. /This is really weird./
