There was no better time or place to oversee the work being done to set up for the graduation brunch than early in the morning with the dog, out in the park. The first men and women were up and about their roles.

Cable paid them a moment's worth of attention, then proceeded on his way.

Tether had calmed down over the years, and so Cable could devote most of his attention to Jan. Who hadn't. Calmed over the years, that is.

In fact, she was trying to get a look at just about everything. Ever.

Now Showing:
SCUFFLE OF THE AESIR

Bruce wasn't normally a movie person, but considering the last time he and Jean really talked they had a kid, he was willing to suck it up and see something where not talking for periods of time was acceptable. And the fact that a mythological epic was showing at the theater certainly didn't hurt.

What did hurt was the person at the box office yelling "LET LOOSE THE JÖRMUNGANDR!" when they bought their tickets. They hadn't even pronounced "Jörmungandr" correctly. They completely screwed up the umlaut.

[OOC For last weekend's babymomma, although the theater is of course open to all.]

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

[OOC: Weather modded with permission. The Prom is open to juniors, seniors, and their dates and definitely open to slowplay. Another post will be going up later this evening set for 10pm-midnight. Prom voting is open until 4pm EDST Please to be waiting for the OCD IS UP! (No thanks to LJ)]

Friday. Beach. Training. It was on Bruce's schedule as a weekly event, even if it had only really happened once a couple weeks ago. He wasn't sure whether or not Jean would show - they hadn't actually talked since that weekend when they weren't exactly themselves - but he was going to be here anyway. If nothing else, he was at least going to get some work in on his kung fu forms.

Alone. At dusk. The way he liked it.

[But he's getting it the other way he likes it: with the redhead senior that this post is for.]

Jean had to come back to work sometime. After the weekend of insanity and being someone's mom and dating Bruce who was apparently a complete freak about whores and swearing.

Mostly the mom part right now was throwing her through a loop.

So, she was going to spend most of the day, hoping no one came in the shop. Like, no one.

[[The OCD is hiding toooo]]
[identity profile] ihavenocodename.livejournal.com
Because Jean was aware that the other version of herself mad plans to be here, she didn't think any harm would come in seeing to this boy.

This non-Scott boy.

So, she waited patiently at a table. Yes, still in the white and gold Phoenix costume. It was almost refreshing that none of the serving staff even looked twice at it.

Her chest on the other hand....

[[For the best date ever]]
[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com
Bruce was conflicted. He couldn't figure out whether or not training to defend himself against psychic and telekinetic attacks alone on the beach with a girl he had been dating counted as an actual date. On one hand, nobody else was invited and she was a superhero. On the other hand, he wasn't sure how many other people would find this kind of thing kind of romantic. (He did, but he also knew he was a little messed up.)

He decided to play it safe. He wasn't going to let himself slide into an all-business mode like he normally would while training. That might scare Jean off.

[OOC: For the girl, please!]

Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

Tuesday. By now, it was fairly clear around Groovy Tunes that Tuesdays were Jonothon days. And Jonothon days, as a result, meant live music days.

Today's project saw him with his guitar and his amp, yes. It also saw him with a pencil and a piece of paper, writing down tabs as he idly poked at some songs of his own creation.

The hope was that, if he poked at them enough, they wouldn't sound absolutely awful. Of course, it was possible that Jono was being harder on himself than any prospective audience might be. Artists, after all, are generally notorious for being their own worst critics.

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

So, a gremlin attack kinda put a damper on having date number two. Not to mention how they'd eaten the sushi she'd got to surprise Bruce with. Which, um, how rude?

Thank goodness they were all gone now and couldn't interrupt her date.

Or else she'd have to, like, eat a sun or something in frustration. And that went badly with mackerel.

So, there she waited for him to arrive, not at all wondering if maybe... just maybe she could get a glass of wine and be all adult. But that was silly. She was far too responsible to drink. Oh, kid's shows.

[[Jean is there for the goddamn Batman her date, but the place is open for your sushi needs]]

After a handwavey morning spent jogging around the island with Bruce, Jean was so very thrilled to meet him up for coffee. It was totally a date. And he wasn't even going to try and grope her!

Probably.

Look, it happened a lot in Fandom.

She ordered the least coffee-like coffee on the menu and sipped it while thinking herself oh so mature to be drinking coffee in general.

Yeah.

Now that it was the weekend and she wasn't facing terminal... brain cancer... Jean was at work. She was busy trying to set up the meditation room to something that wouldn't send boys running.

...yeah, it wasn't working so far.

Look, she thought the pillows made it look friendly, okay?

It was a Sunday, winter was on the way, and Jono didn't exactly have anything else to do with his afternoon. Therefore, it was time to meet Jean in the park to make the best of what was left of the nice weather before the winter slog could show up and hit with a vengeance.

Or whatever it was that winter did around here. Jonothon didn't exactly have a wealth of American winters behind him, after all.

So there he was, kicking a soccer football around, waiting for that redheaded bird to show up so that he could kick her arse at footie again.

[For that redheaded bird, but open park is still open!]

Jean had a friend in town. Her best friend. Friends. Yup.

Totally friends.

So, she was just forced to bring him along to work with her. And to meet Mr. Dayspring after gushing about him and how he'd been helping her with her powers and he was just soooo dreamy.

"I don't actually have anything to do with the--weapons--part. I do the meditation."

Poor, poor Scott.

Ben didn't know why the Zombie Bass Player had a falcon on his arm. More importantly, Ben really didn't want to know.

All he did know was that he wasn't going to be the one to get the arm back when the inevitable happened.

It was Jean's first day of work, so of course she was there on time and cheerful and omg someone gave her coffee. The kind with more cream and sugar and those flavor shots that cause people to bounce off the walls.

But she was totally ready to help people meditate nevertheless!

Today Jean brought some bread in order to keep the ducks at bay. Each little piece of bread was taken out further into the pond and away from where she was to lure them away from attacking anyone.

Hopefully.

It was like an exercise of her powers! Or really strong wind that carried them out there. Who knew?

Having handwavily forced asked people to come out for some good old fashioned X-Men training, Jean was acting like Scott anxiously waiting for everyone to arrive so they could get started. At least there wasn't any Mr. Logan to make them run way more than people should.

A few miles was good, though. Right?

It was, Jonothon had decided, in bad form to hang around inside one's dorm room all of the time, stinking it up with emo and psionic flame. And that was why, for a change of pace, Jono had made his way out to the park, which he would subsequently stink up with much the same.

The big difference was, instead of Jak, there were ducks. Angry, angry ducks, who were sparing no breath letting Jono know in their own ducklike way just how displeased they were at the fact that he'd had the gall to show up without some bread crumbs or popcorn to feed them with.

//Sorry, mates,// Jono muttered, //if I don't get any, then yer get none from me.//

The ducks were Not Best Pleased.

[The park is open for any who care to stroll through and patronize the ducks, the emo, the flamingos, and such. The ducks get special homage today because I was woken up at six this morning by the ANGRIEST DUCKS IN THE WORLD.]

The last time Ben was at Three Minute Dates, he was one of the daters. Now he was the host. He was pretty sure this counted as a promotion somehow.

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Ben Reilly
Reject people and make it snappy!

When the event was just about ready to start, Ben took the stage. "Okay, everyone! Let's go over the rules quickly. We'll start in a minute when I read a pair of names. That pair finds each other, makes with the chit chat, and then after three minutes you'll hear this sound."

A zombie hit a gong. With his head. Whatever works... "And when you hear that, we'll move onto the next round and I'll read more names. We'll do this five times and then we'll be done. Oh, and don't forget, violence isn't allowed here but drink throwing is both possible and hilarious."

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

It was the weekend after a Fandom issue, which meant that Nathan Dayspring Summers was both enjoying the ensuing quiet and taking a moment to go through his own personal stash of heavy weaponry. With Jan not far behind, of course, even if there was no way in hell he'd let her near any of the actual weapons.

That would come when she was of the right age to name one, let alone lift it.

This didn't keep Jan from spending most of the day wandering through the store yelling 'Tee-sisty! Tee-sisty!' all the time.

Cable was just going to take that as a good thing.

The movie had been chosen, the popcorn was purchased, and Tybalt and his ginger date had arrived to the MST3K in more or less one piece, staking out a pair of seats in the back.

It was a miracle, really, considering Tybalt was involved, and they were on not just a date, but the second date.

Tybalt Capulet? On a second date? It's more likely than you think... if only because Tybalt had heard somewhere that a girl would let you try the weird stuff on date number two. This was going to be an interesting night, wasn't it?

NOW PLAYING
Canadian Pie

....

Oh yes. Very interesting.

[For the date, but open to other moviegoers! .... And I know there has to be established meta for that movie, but I haven't the faintest idea where to look for it.]
[identity profile] feline-royalty.livejournal.com
Tybalt was fortunate, he decided, in that he had turned back to his normal shape from a can of Fancy Feast in time to shower the cat food smell from his person, prepare himself for an evening out, and, of course, to pick up his date for the evening.

He'd allowed her to choose where they would be dining tonight, of course. He was, after all, a gentleman of Verona, a proud man of the house of Capulet, of noble upbringing and considerable wealth, and damn sure that he was going to get lucky tonight.

And so it was entirely possible that he'd been visually devouring his date this evening. It was time to sup, after all, and Tybalt had a particularly hungry eye.

He sure as hell wasn't looking at the menu, at any rate.

"A fine choice in dining establishments, milady," he decided. Ever the gentleman. Ever the hungry, hungry gentleman.

[Tybalt is here for the ginger, of course, but it is a public restaurant, if you have Italian food needs otherwise.]

Finally finishing up the wandering around town to see where everything was, Jean stopped at quite possibly the worst place to eat around.

Hey, she was still young and skinny, she could get away with a burger and fries still! And she's be dead before she'd end up fat, so it all worked!

It was fairly early morning-- Tether had to be walked, and if Tether was going to be walked, then Cable would have to take a walk, and if Cable went anywhere, Janice had to come with for safety.

He never took this walk at exactly the same time of morning, or in the same place; he did always take it equally armed, and the lap he was taking around the park this morning (not on the mainland, for once - he'd gone to the mainland a few times, the past few weeks) was kept under careful observation, despite his seemingly idle walk.

Neither Jan nor Tether paid any attention to it. They were too busy enjoying the early morning air in... roughly the same way, even if Jan's involved an awful lot more rambling.

[ open park, open post, woo ]
[identity profile] spring-lost.livejournal.com
It was a new term full of new students; which meant that Cable was setting up his list of the new and what they'd gotten up to over newbie day again, calmly inputting data into his system.

He had also opened up the store after a particularly odd accident that happened here yesterday. He noted one name on the list in particular.

Hm. Might have had something to do with it.

On the floor, Jan was amusing herself with a few building blocks.
