Spring Parents' Weekend Brunch | Sunday Morning to Afternoon | The Park
Another successful weekend of avoiding angry and confused parental figures and listening to radio with a broad smile on his face and a tub of popcorn at his side meant Barney was happy to oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park.
Ah, but the morning was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim. With el presidente and the rest of the student council taking care of friends and family, it was up to Barney to make brunch happen. Amazing what an iPhone could do these days, like make tents, chairs, and tables of blue and gold appear all around the park along with tables of hot and cold cuisine perfect for what anyone might expect of brunch. Apparently there was an app for that.
And now for the sitting, chatting, and eating. Today was the day when everyone would say goodbye and flee the island, leaving the land peaceful once more. Barney thought it was a lot like what happened after invasions, just with less blood and goop on the streets.
[OCD UP. Have at, bbs!]

Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"I am the greatest friend anyone can ever have," Nathan said, giving Zach's hand a shake even if he'd thought about ignoring it for a split second. "So, what do you think of our fair island, Zachary? It's a bit of a picture, ain't it? This place should be on fucking postcards."
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"Tiny," Kate contributed, eyeing Nathan though she seemed to have relaxed just a little bit.
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
And a girl. Oops.
"You been to the strip club yet? A straight shooter like you looks like he'd let loose after hours, wear his tie on his head and grind against some pretty girl whose only putting herself through college on those tips!"
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"Don't mind him," she said, a little dryly. "He's such a joker, our Nathan."
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
Of course, since his attention was on Zach, it meant he noticed something and stepped back, looking appraising. "Where's your sweater, mate? I so thought you'd be wearing a jaunty white sweater tied around your neck while you carried a tennis racket. No go there either? Dammit!"
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
Of course, he had to tug on his tie a little now.
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"Maybe you're the joker, Zachary," Nathan said, still laughing. "I can see what Kate sees in you. You're like an older...junior accountant. I bet you own a briefcase!"
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
Kate bit on her tongue not to point out that sadly, this was probably Nathan actually making some sort of an effort to not just be an out-and-out dick.
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
But her shoulders tensed up. "Okay, Nathan, I think you should go now."
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"What? Why?" Nathan asked, pretending not to see anything wrong here. "I thought were were having a good ole bonding session right now. We're on the path to be a tight knit group!"
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
"You're upsetting Kate," Zach cut in, with all the authority of a 27-year-old business owner, "who is supposed to be your friend. That means you should go."
Re: Mingle! [SPW 3]
Nathan glanced at Kate for a bit longer than needed and then shook his head, muttering things under his breath before walking away. Whatever.
