The Perk; Sunday Morning [01/19].

"Well, no," Summer admitted to the barista, "I don't know if it'll work, but it's worth a try, right? I mean, it shouldn't be too hard to make a latte taste like a pancake, without having to just, you know, blend a pancake right in there. Which isn't a terrible idea, either, but let's save that for the zero hour, and start simply. Maybe just maple syrup and...I don't know...oat milk? That's where we can start, and we'll work our way through from there ..."

And the resulting drink wasn't bad, it just wasn't quite what Summer was looking for, but she felt it was a good start and it would do for now, as she went to go find a comfortable spot to sit a little and work on her lesson plans on her tablet.

At least, that was the original idea, until she got thoroughly distracted shopping for cute winter boots.

"Ooh," she said, swiping through, "I am definitely ordering these for the store. And these. And thooooose...."

Because, you see, if she ordered them for the store, then she could put it on the store's account, and then buy them using her discount. Brilliant!

[[ please save me from work. And Summer from herself. Open for all your perkly needs! ]]

"I did hear somethin' 'bout goin' inside a guy's body from your class," Iris admitted. "That seems like a cut above mere volcanoes and kidnappin' in my book. The rest of your class goin' to be as weird?"

Iris laughed.

"So is the goal breakin' 'em or is it preparin' them?" she wondered. "Or are you claimin' both for plausible deniability?"

She wasn't?

"And just coastin' by on reputation ain't seemin' like the sort of thin' you'd be unbored with for long," she noted.

Sure, that was a sentence.

"But what were that 'bout space debris?"

That Summer had left to Jello shop it up in space was... about the extent of Iris' knowledge, really, so she just shrugged a little in sympathy.

"Well, it happens," she commiserated, "and it ain't like anyone here'll care that you're... a Jello outlaw."

Then she laughed.

"Okay, but if Steve cares then that's more is problem than yours," she said, amused. "Long as what you're leavin' up there'll be okay, there's worse things to be than an outlaw. Even if here ain't that big."
intraspective: (huh?)

"How did gravity work on that tiny planet?" Iris wondered, then shrugged a little. It didn't really matter and she weren't scientifically inclined in that sense enough to really care. "But, gods, a sun that screamed? That's just torture. I were trapped for months on a world where everythin' were 'bout the sport cricket and that ain't near as bad as that sun of yours."

"Ain't much fun if you're stuck there," Iris noted, "but if you were there on purpose, I can see where you're comin' from..."

"Were tryin' to get back home," she said, picking at her apple fritter. "The multiverse weren't super keen on lettin' me get there."
