The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night
So Lucifer had spent last night - and most of this morning - in a hotel bed in Baltimore with Seivarden and an extremely enthusiastic couple with formidable stamina. Then he'd spent most of the afternoon sleeping off the previous night - and woke up to the sense that whatever was in the air on the island... was still there.
And so his arrival to the Devil's Nest came accompanied by an incredibly good mood.
He settled behind the piano, hit the keys, leaned towards the microphone, and. Well. Today was not going to be a PG-13 rated musical night, to put it mildly.

That song stopped her in her tracks for a moment, though. She'd specifically been avoiding that one (and a few key others) in the last couple of days, veering more towards the more generally angry and depressed parts of the NIN back catalog.
"Oh, come on," she muttered under her breath - but didn't let it stop her from heading to the bar and going to order something simple but alcoholic.
She should've gone to Caritas. She really knew better.

He noticed her coming in, made a quick note to go over there as soon as he was finished, and then absolutely smirked his way through the rest of the song.

She didn't even actually look his way when he came over. Not immediately, anyway.
But, she gave a tiny nod. "Lucifer."

"Brandy."
She'd say it was a random pick, but it was actually a comfort thing.

She liked cocktails just fine. At least when they involved fresh fruit and happened aboard the Rouge, anyway.
"But I'm not surprised you'd say that."

Duke was probably playing a bit with fire going to talk to her right now, but as he'd just told Lucifer, if he was going to get laid by anyone tonight (and he'd really like to get laid tonight), he was going to clear it with Octavia first. Because there was not being exclusive, and then there was going home for a wild night with someone else when you had plans for a wild couple days not even 24 hours later.

All of him.
In the flesh.
And it was much worse, thanks, than just talking to him on the phone, because nothing added to thinking about how slim he was at the waist compared to how wide he was at the shoulders than actually seeing it in front of her, and --
Oh, she should say something.
"... Hi."
Yes. Well done, Tavi.

Also, he was very much aware of and enjoying the reason why she'd gone momentarily speechless.
"Hey." He leaned against the bar next to her and sipped his drink. "How's it going?"
no subject
And she was huffy because he was enjoying it.
(It made him even more attractive.)

She wet her lip before asking, "What plan is that?"

He let out a laugh when he recognized the song Lucifer was playing. "Yeah, that pretty much covers it."

He hadn't seen Octavia at the bar yet. And had no idea she'd been talking about him with Lucifer in the first place.

He licked his lips and spent a very long moment just looking, then tore his gaze away sharply and tossed back far too much of his drink in one go.
"We've got plans tomorrow night," he said. "Guess she had the same idea to go find a distraction tonight as I did."
