"I think I'm managing well. Haven't been fired yet from the tavern I work at and the hills on this island haven't bested me yet," he said lightly. "What else could a person want?"

"There's two as far as I know," he said. "I work at the one run by a vampire. And I now know what a vampire is."

"Ah, yes, it's a bar I'm talking about," he said. "In Nassau the bar, the tavern and the whorehouse are interchangeable words."

"Noted," he said with a nod. "I'm not particularly fond of people wielding axes so I'll be sure to avoid trouble there."

Overdoing it with an ax was what led to his leg being cut off so, yeah, Silver's hesitance toward someone wielding one was probably warranted.

"If I ever meet this Rosa I will treat her with the utmost respect, I assure you," he said. "Despite my previous profession I do try to avoid violence whenever possible."

Silver smiled. "I'm afraid my ability to read sarcasm in this century still needs practice."

"The inflection is similar, but the verbiage is different," Silver joked. "It's more that I don't understand what people are saying here half the time. I'm learning though."

Silver laughed. "You know you're the second person to use that accent on me today."

Yeah that last sentence was jibberish to him. Well, he knew what it meant to cut a bitch.

"Magnus," Silver answered. "And then he told me about my restaurant."

Which was traumatizing.

"Apparently there's a chain of shitty seafood restaurants named after me." See this face? This face was not amused.

"It's a bit humiliating," he said. "Long John Silver wasn't created for that purpose."

That was because Silver needed to compartmentalize in order to keep his sanity.

"A crew mate of mine picked me to build a legend upon, in order to keep our rebellion against England alive," he said, sighing. "I knew nothing about it until I came back to Nassau and heard of the pirate king Long John Silver. It's a persona I'm supposed to live up to in public."

Which he was a little too good at and that scared him.

"So you can see where the whole restaurant thing is a little insulting."
