J,GOB, Wednesday afternoon
Rosa had an appointment on the island to look at an apartment she'd found advertised on Craig's List, but the less time she spent in the MICA dorms with her perpetually stoned roommate, the better. So she got to the island a bit early, figuring she could get the lay of the land and figure out if it was actually a place she thought she could live.
It looked, to her admittedly limited experience, very European. And there was art everywhere. She'd spotted at least a few murals graffiti-ed onto buildings as she walked in from the causeway, and while there were two bars (one for locals, one for tourists, she assumed, or maybe one was LGBT and the other was for the straights?), there were also plenty of places to eat or grab a snack that didn't look like they catered too much to the drugs-and-booze crowd.
So, you know, her sponsor would approve, at least.
She decided to grab a seat in the little bakery she found, tucked in by the window where she could people-watch as she picked apart her cinnamon strudel muffin. And try once again to google "Baltimore neighborhoods Fandom" and find out a little more about this weird little place she was looking to move to.
[HELLO A NEWBIE IS IN TOWN! Considering the number of graffiti artists we've had on the island already, I figure there should be at least a few murals for my little graffiti artist to be impressed by.
So very open!]

He did a brief double-take. "Hey, new face." He nodded to her. "You visiting someone, or moving in?"

Alien fans were nuts.
“I’m Rosa. And if I decide to move in I will definitely take you up on that coffee.”

It wasn’t, but that was what the license Kyle had gotten her said it was.
“Crash Con is a convention for conspiracy theorists. I’m from Roswell.”

He took a second to place "Roswell" and "Crash" with "conspiracy theorists" and realize what she meant.
"Aliens actually real in your world, or not?"
no subject
She honestly wasn’t sure how to answer that question either.

Or occasional physics rants from Michael.
"So . . . go ahead. Enlighten me."

"You think I'm insane yet, or should I keep going?"

After getting back from the field trip and her classes done for the day, Alara decided to stop by the bakery and get a pastry.
“Good afternoon,” she nodded at Rosa once she had her pastry and made her way towards the tables.

“Hey.” Rosa gave the girl a little wave. That was a Look right there but it wasn’t nice to stare. “How’s it going?”

". . . Okay, did you just overhear me telling that other guy I was from Roswell or something?"

Maybe you should have asked what year she was from first before springing the future part on her Alara.

To, you know, name just one random, not at all specific example.
