Was it tacky to advertise for your big party on the weekend during your bar shift on Wednesday? Did Summer really care?

Because you could definitely bet Summer was going to try and tell everyone about that party, and, even if she didn't get around to it, she had a few ubiquitous flyers up around the place and smaller little print-outs advertising for the Big Beefcake Birthday Blowout Bash (sorry, Eliot; like a magpie, this one, but she did, clearly, improve on it), juuuust in case anyone missed it.

Look, she had to cover all of her bases. She was pretty sure she might actually die if she threw a party and, like, no one showed up. Forget parasitic brain eaters, evil galactic empires, the breaking of time and space as we know it....a bad party was, like, the most terrifying thing in the entire multiverse.

"You're going to love it," Summer insisted with the utmost confidence, "I have soooooo many good ideas, we are definitely going to make it memorable, and, hey, you know what? People like us, we gotta celebrate every chance we get, there's no telling when it all goes to shit, we have to enjoy it while we can!"

“I never thought of it like that,” Goose considered with a tilt of his head as he reached for the next shot, “even though I should probably make sure that I pace myself enough that I do remember the evening,”

Well at least he didn’t have that far to go this time if he did get carried away with the drinking.

Summer shook her head. "When it comes to birthday parties," she declared, "remembering is super overrated. I only remember, like, half of my last party. Actually, probably a lot less by now, the thing that stands out the most is Lucifer singing Dua Lipa at one point, and, honestly? If that's all my brain decided to carry with it about that night? It picked a good one."

“So if I don’t remember anything from the evening, it’s a good thing?” Goose checked with a grin, “the only party I’ve been to where I don’t remember much of it was the Christmas party, I still don’t know how I made it upstairs or why my communicator was on my nightstand,” he shook his head, “at least I won’t have far to go this time,” he added, even though the odds of him just passing out on the floor where still pretty good.

Someone was going to have to make sure that Goose didn’t have his communicator with him or who knows what he’d end up saying to Commander Walsh.

What a good thing that the person who had gotten him to bed that evening and separated him from his communicator would be present, then. And absolutely did remember.

Summer, meanwhile, just grinned back and sighed happily. "That was a good one," she reminisced, then her grin sharpened, "I think. But, yeah, no, the only thing I want you concerning yourself with is having a good time."

It was a very good thing indeed. Goose was going to need as much help as he could get.

“I definitely intend to do that,” he promised as he downed another shot, “I mean it’s my first official birthday party right? I have a lot of them to make up for,”

The poor healing factor was never going to stand a chance, was it?

Hey. It was important to really put things like advanced healing factors to the test, right, and not just take it for granted?

Summer just sort of shook her head at him a little. "I still can't believe this is really going to be your first birthday party," she stated. "I almost," almost, "feel a little bad, because literally probably every other party after this one is just going to pale in comparrison, but I'm glad I can give you a real banger of a first time."

“I never imagined it would be something I’d experience,” Goose admitted, “or even that I’d make it to 20 if I’m being honest, I mean I was designed to be a soldier … to be expendable, I don’t think they expected any of us to last really,” he paused, "it still feels weird, getting to experience all of this,"

"Well," said Summer, giving Goose a slightly softer smile now, "I hope it's a good weird, at least, and I'm glad you did manage to last," even if it was clearly against all odds, "this long, because that whole 'expendable soldier cannon fodder' crap is bullshit, and honestly? Quite frankly? Even more reason to really shove it in their faces by partying as hard as you possibly can."
