Homecoming 2022, Community Center, Friday Evening

Homecoming in November meant the community center was decked out in harvest-themed decorations for this evening's festivities. There were pumpkins that had somehow survived un-carved after Halloween, baskets of glittery vegetables (not for eating, please), decorative hay bales, and... a disco ball?

It's a dance, some things get dug out of the decoration closet no matter what the theme might be.

The food table was full and the drinks were un-spiked for the moment, so it was time for everyone to get their dance on!

It was homecoming! And a school event! Of course Sidon was going to be there to chaperone and be incredibly enthusiastic about it and grateful for spaces with plenty of room and high ceilings!

Stark didn't have to chaperone tonight. And he was an alum so he could be at the dance no matter what. He was still going to hang out near some other adults (maybe even with a date).

He had on one of the shirts (slightly shiny and a deep rust color) that his stylist had picked out on their shopping trip in Paris. But no suit today.

Maybe with a date? Definitely with a date!

“You’re just going to drag me along on all your chaperone duties now, huh,” Travis teased. (His gray-blue suit complemented Stark’s rust red nicely.)
stykera: (hmm)

Stark turned and gave him a considering look. "Drag you along? I don't remember any dragging."

"Okay true," Travis said. "Ask me along, then."

"As long as you keep saying yes," Stark said, grinning a little. "But you know you don't have to."

"I don't mind a little teasing," Stark admitted.

"I'll ask her next time I see her. Whenever that is."

Stark rarely felt comfortable enough with anyone to tease them himself.

"I've been thinking about that," Travis said. "So, uh, there's a holiday coming up. I'm planning to head to Seattle for it. Do you, um. Think you might want to come with me?"

stykera: (wait what)

"Come with you. To Seattle," Stark repeated, knowing he sounded foolish as he did so.

"I... would it be alright, to be there? With you?" His hand was fiddling with the buckle at his neck already.

"You don't have to," Travis said quickly. "And we wouldn't have to go out and around or anything. Just . . . maybe dinner at the station? With Vic and . . . the rest of them?"

A chance to wear a cute dress probably more suited for the students she was chaperone than the chaperone herself? Sign Summer uuuup. She loved putting up the pretense of being a responsible adult!

"You're very sparkly tonight," Stark said. In a totally non-vibey sort of way. Obviously.

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2022-11-11 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously.

"Well, it is a Fandom homecoming," Summer pointed out, taking a moment to hitch up a shoulder in a move clearly meant to show off the dress....or at least its cuteness....also in a fashion completely void of vibes. Clearly. "Sparkly just seems practically a necessity. Although a nice subtle shine," a nod of approval to whoever picked out that shirt for him; they clearly knew what they were doing!, "is a good option, too."

"I'll tell my stylist you approve of the shirt," Stark promised.

"I don't have anything so sparkly as that." Not even close. "But i think you look better in sparkles than I would."
somethingwithturquoise: (just so happy right now)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2022-11-11 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's also a Fandom homecoming," Summer pointed out again, "so I'm sure you'll still be plenty sparkly by the end of it, regardless."

There was maybe the slightest of hesitating pauses before she added, "And I see you brought Travis along, too! That's good!"

Very, very good! It was always encouraging to see her hard work paying off so well!
stykera: (ok)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] stykera 2022-11-11 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure everyone will be sparkly by the end of the night. Not as sparkly as at your Christmas party but still sparkly."

There would be more sparkly students here than at the Christmas party for sure.

"And yes. Travis came along." And he looked very nice in his suit but much less sparkly (so far) than Summer did.
somethingwithturquoise: (flattery will get you everywhere)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2022-11-11 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
There had better be no sparkly students at the Christmas rager. Especially since Summer now had Gladio back as a bouncer as well as Rosa!

"Well, they don't have a glitter cannon," she pointed out, and thank god for that, right? "And that's great. You guys are going to have a great time."
stykera: (looking sideways)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] stykera 2022-11-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Rosa was a much scarier bouncer than Gladio.

"No glitter cannons here that I know of, at least." Hopefully they wouldn't be manifesting one by having this conversation.

"And... it should be nice, having him here. I'm still not sure if he dances."
somethingwithturquoise: (hand lift smile)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2022-11-11 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, but Summer still hadn't managed to convince Rosa to do it shirtless yet.

"Good time to find out, right?" she offered.
stykera: (headtilt)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] stykera 2022-11-11 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Rosa could definitely pull that off though.

"I suppose it is. Would you like to dance? Someone once told me it was criminal not to."
somethingwithturquoise: (sweet cute smile)

Re: Chaperones [HoCo 2022]

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2022-11-11 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Why else do you think Summer'd been trying?

"I'm pretty sure," said Summer, with a faint laugh and a somewhat awkward, almost apologetic kind of smile, "the legality of dancing in that case was directly tied to not letting a good suit go to waste. I'm a little wishy-washy on the fine print in this case, but I'm pretty sure not dancing at homecoming is just about on par with nice suits at weddings."

That saaaaid....

"I'd hate to cut in on other valuable dancing opportunities, though."
