First Responder's Memorial Day Barbecue - Fire Station and Selkie Lake, Monday
The firehouse was all ready for guests, cleaned as much as humanly possible and organized within an inch of its life. Which meant it was time for people to come in and mess all that up.
But, you know. Lovingly.
And just across the way at Selkie Lake, the food and the general mingling place was all set up for people. Because it was time for the First Responder's Memorial Day Barbecue!

Re: Arrive/Mingle
The smile on her face appreciated being such an immediate point of interest.
"And nah," she answered. "Everyone's probably out here more than anything else. Which is a good thing for the clinic, too, unless things get real crazy, but, like, it's literally falling under the First Responders umbrella; if something happened and they weren't able to handle it themselves, that'd be pretty fucking abysmal. Have you been here long?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"There are a lot of people here," Stark agreed. "Not everyone but a lot. ANd you're right. If something goes wrong there are plenty of people who can help and the nurses are still at the clinic and I told them I'd come back if they needed me."
He shook his head then. "Not too long, no. I was going to get some food soon, I think."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Not Steve. Steve was off doing somber Memorial Day things. Steve was showing off his tramp stamp at the grill.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Memorial Day, actually," said Summer, shaking her head, because even having witnessed it firsthand, she still wasn't sure she believed it. "Like a total normie! Like, not even a word about cellophane tape or old timey pianos or anything! It was bizarre."
Her head tilted slightly as a thought occurred to her. "I wonder," she mused, "if he got bit by a gremlin? Anyway, let's just go and check out what they've got together?"
It was a win for both of them, because she knew Stark would appreciate her accompanying him and also she would appreciate the tramp stamp.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Do you think I ought to go get Apu and take him to the clinic?" Stark asked, grinning. "And yes, together sounds good."
They could both appreciate the tramp stamp, lbr. Though Stark appreciated Summer's tattoo far more.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Burgers? Steak? Something else? I'm glad you're here now. And you didn't miss the tug of war."
They could admire shirtless gentlemen together and then go home together. Perfect plan. No notes.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
They'd known each other for a long time, actually, it could be easy to forget some of the smaller little details.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"And no. No gremlin bites. The gremlins haven't bothered me. Just the raccoons. Did you see Steve got a tattoo?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
His loss, though. Her gremlin bite story was fucking great.
"Do you mean Steve?" she asked, with uncertainty. "Or Steeeeve?"
Because, like, Steve already had tattoos? And, like, yeah, it was very nice to look at his tattoos, like, in a way that she would have thought Stark should not be encouraging, because my god, but if Steeeeve got a tattoo, now, that would be news. Like, stop the pressed, drop everything, she'd need to know more.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Steve, not Steve." Nope, still no difference in pronounciation.
"There seem to be a lot of tattoos lately. Yours is much nicer." He reached then to ghost his fingers over it. "Much."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Still. She was willing to give him that one with a faint grin.
"Who else's tattoos have you been scoping out lately, Stark?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Will you tell me about your gremlin bite? They all seem different."
Maybe Baniks were immune! Doubtful but possible.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Oh, no," said Summer, innocently. "I wouldn't want to distract you from appreciating Steve's tattoo, Stark."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Oh, Stark.
He shook his head and stepped in front of her, keeping his hand at her neck.
"Yours I appreciate. Just like I appreciate every other part of you."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
So she stopped and gave him a soft smile as she looked back at him.
"I know you do," she said, and leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, Stark."
Beat.
"Okay, now let's grab these burgers and find the best spot for noticing Steve's tattoo."
Look, just because she was at the line didn't mean she was going to stop dancing on it!
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"As long as Danny doesn't get too jealous," he said, giving her a crooked smile and dropping his hand from his neck to reach for her hand instead.
"And maybe later you'll tell me the story of your gremlin encounter?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Perhaps later I'll just have to distract you so you'll forget you didn't want to tell me."
He had some thoughts. They might have involved biting.
