While straightening up the store, Harper accidentally knocked over an old chess set. After recovering all the pieces, she set up a chess game at the register with a sign:

Hurley snuck over during his lunch break.

"Heeeey little sis," he greeted.

"Hi Hurley!" said Harper, grinning. "What's up?"

"Just felt like checkin' in on ya," Hurley said. "I've been kinda a bad sib, let you run off into the wild without me." He joked.

"Aww! You know I would have come looking for you if I needed anything," said Harper. "And I'm keeping busy! Besides working here, I'm in charge of costumes for the play they're doing at The Boards. Oh, and I joined the art club."

"Oh wow," Hurley said. "That's awesome. I'll have to come see the show when its on."

"I've had some great ideas, though Geoffrey and I have had some creative differences on the color choices. He's the director, so I guess he outranks me on the production crew," said Harper.

"I know I'd trust your color choices," Hurley said, foolishly.

"Thanks, Hurley!" said Harper. "Though I have to admit Geoffrey is right about one thing. I haven't seen how the different colors I came up with would actually look under stage lights."

"Good point," Hurley said. "I think. Never really worked with a stage, so... I guess he's probably right?"

"Guess I won't know until I get to see the actual costumes on stage," said Harper. "Anyway, at next week's rehearsal I'll get to talk to the actors and see what they want to wear."

"Awesome," Hurley said. "You, uhhh, encounter anything weird yet?"

"I had this really cute hat show up out out nowhere yesterday," said Harper. Tuesday's truthfulness hadn't really caught her notice.

Hurley laughed. "Me too," he said. "That's it, though? No... aliens or anything?"

Some things were just like a siren call. Turtle was in town with some business at the store, and she stopped a moment when she saw the sign in Things Reborn. Stopped, backtracked, read it over, and then walked on in.

"Chess, huh, Harper?" she asked, grinning a bit.

"Hi Turtle! I haven't played in a while, so it seemed like a good idea," said Harper, grinning.

"Good," Turtle said, leaning on the counter a little. "That means we're both a little rusty. Do you have to have items first, or can I wait until I win to pick them?"

"Either way works. There's lots of ~~moddable~~ used goodies that I'm sure you'd love to have," said Harper.

"I'll take a look after," Turtle decided with a nod. "There isn't anything I can think of that I need, but maybe if I look around, I'll feel inspired."

"Inspiration can hit at any time," said Harper, smiling. "Like yesterday when I decided that the cast of the play needs to have hats that go with the costumes I'm designing. That is, of course, if Geoffrey will let me do it. He didn't like all of my fashion ideas."

There was a long, long pause.

"Don't tell me," she said, "that the hats you have in mind are going to be like the hats from yesterday."

"Sadly, no," said Harper. "They were cute, but Geoffrey told me no bright colors. I'm not sure he'll even let me into the theater with that hat."

"No bright colors?" Turtle asked, especially since she couldn't argue about the hats. "At all?"

"He said the first batch of colors I picked out were going to make him vomit," said Harper, scowling. "We compromised. The actors will get to pick out the colors they want, but I'm not allowed to show them any bright colors."

"If they want a bright color, though, can they have it?"

"I don't see why not," said Harper. "I'm sure if I find some fellow fashionistas among the actors, we can pressure Geoffrey into being a little more reasonable."
