If anyone could recall the dance from the night before, they would have thought that it was decorated tastefully compared to what was going on tonight. There were streamers, balloons and what appeared to be paper flower ornaments everywhere. All done in yellow and blue for the proud graduates of Fandom High, of course.

And there were the 'classic' songs from twenty years ago blaring loudly for people to dance or cringe to. Who knew Ke$ha and Justin Bieber would get to be classic pop music for future generations?

Just be glad there is an open bar.

Hurley had a whole plan. He'd gotten out of Santa Rosa about two weeks ago, and discovered that the weird relative time thing meant he could still make Hoshi's birthday. He booked a portal, all ready for a surprise visit.

Of course, when he got here and called her and got no answer, that kinda sucked. When he checked the recent radion podcasts, well... that explained why there was no answer. Just his luck, really.

So Hurley sat in J,GOB, idly munching on a bear claw. He put out a few other handwavy calls to his friends, letting him know he was around today. That'd be cool. Just... not as cool as seeing Hoshi for the first time in months.

[ooc: Open post! If you think Hurley would have called you, he did.]

Hurley was at the store today, fidgeting a little. Graduation had crept up a lot faster than he had expected. And right as things were finally hitting off with Hoshi.

Distance relationships were okay, right? I mean, they worked for some people. They had to. So maybe it wasn't the end. After all, there was a certain kid from the future that said so.

So, if anyone needed flowers, go poke the guy sitting around thinking, half-heartedly flipping through a comic book.

As the night went on, an assortment of prom favours were replacing the masks on the table just inside the tent. Everyone was free to take a picture frame and disposable camera to record their own Prom memories. Also were shot glasses with the Fandom High gremlin on them. Such things happened when Dean Stinson was the Student Council advisor.

The punch was thoroughly spiked by now, but the dessert table had been refilled o soaking up all that alcohol was a definite possibility. The music would still be playing for a few hours for all to get in as much dancing and time to be with their friends as they wanted.

And in just a moment, Dean Stinson was going to announce the Prom Court.

[OOC: How much do we rock that LJ was down all day and we STILL needed a second post? SO MUCH. Again, Prom is open for SP and also getting LJ to load should not be such a rush. Please wait for the OCD is up and good to go!]

Karla was starting to have a Bad Feeling about this. Not a Black Widow bad feeling, just a kind of dawning, 'Oh, Darkness, what have I done?' kind of feeling. Would her friends be able to understand the way Kaeleer worked? Would the people in Kaeleer understand her friends? She'd already had Uncle Saetan empty the Hall as much as possible--the last thing she needed was Chaosti and Aaron riding the killing edge because they'd, well, met Arthur. Saetan was old enough to keep a reign on his temper (Darkness willing) and Lucivar.

Hell's fire, this was a bad idea.

But too late for that now. Everyone was pretty much assembled. "Uh, hi," Karla said, giving everyone a kind of feeble wave. "The portal should be here in just a few minutes. But, since we're all here, I figured now might be a good time to give some information about my home and answer any questions. I hope you all got my handwavy message about packing enough for about a week, a bathing suit, and a few more formal items because Uncle Saetan asks that everyone dress for dinner. If not, don't worry, tomorrow we'll be heading out to Amdarh, the capitol city of Dhemlan and there have been some accounts opened at stores for everyone."

She flashed her best unsure-but-game grin and said, "Any questions?"

[Mostly for those going to Kaeleer, but open for anyone who wants to see them off. Some slight OCD on its way! up!]

Hurley was at work again, after having skipped out last week thanks to the evil fog. This week there was definitely no evil fog. He had brought Four-Dee along with him to work today. He was trying to see if he could get him to deliver flowers.

Hurley was losing a battle with the sound system today.

He couldn't get it to stop playing 'Rebel Rebel' by David Bowie. While a good song, it was going to drive him crazy if he couldn't get it to stop.

Eventually, he just sat behind the counter with earplugs in.

Today, Hurley was sitting behind the counter reading a comic book. Dude, it would totally suck to be the last man alive, he thought. Even if all the women were still around.

Hurley was completely oblivious to any weirdness going on this weekend so far. And really, when he did find out, he'd just be really grateful he wasn't a crazy veterinarian. He was behind the counter at Groovy Tunes, ready to help anyone who came in.

Today's mix at Groovy Tunes was songs from 'Purple Rain', 'Sign o' the Times', 'The Ratman Soundtrack', 'Dire Straits', 'Stone Roses', 'Second Coming', and 'Sade'.

It was an eclectic mix, for sure.

[ooc: OCD free and open! ...I feel really spammy today.]

Hurley at work ended up like most days of Hurley at Work. He got the important stuff done (including writing a note agreeing on the date for the staff dinner), and then he sort of stood around reading. As this was Covent Garden and not, say, Mr. Cluck's, he was not idly eating the merchandise.

Because germaniums aren't tasty that way.

This basically meant he really hoped someone would stop in to save him from his slight boredom.

Hurley was groovin' at Groovy Tunes, to the music of Queen.

He was soooo glad he had Spring Break coming up. Even if it was all fancy and going somewhere new. He'd deal with that. Besides, he was almost graduated. Had to take advantage of what time he still had with his friends.

Groovy Tunes was open.

[ooc: and so is the OCD free post!]
[identity profile] likes-chicken.livejournal.com
Hurley frowned a little. While he liked the idea of a group dinner, there was the fact that... that was the only notes. No more little amusing notes to start off his work day.

He shrugged and then moved on, putting on a little music (Jay-Z) as he went about his flower tending and selling duties.

Hurley knew the dance was tonight, but he was trying to ignore that fact. Mainly because it was, you know, Valentine's Day and everything and he just didn't want to think about any of that.

Which was why he was grumpily staring at the Groovy Tunes sound system. It insisted on playing Love Hurts by Nazareth.

On a never-ending loop.

He finally found some earplugs and sat behind the counter, making a face.

[ooc: OCD free, open, gah I'm sorry Mass Effect 2 had me all distracted today so I'm only just getting this up now.]
[identity profile] likes-chicken.livejournal.com
Hurley wasn't exactly psyched about the fact that it was two days until V-Day and there seemed to be a shortage on the flowers.

He had all the bouquets done that he could, and now was idly wondering if people would notice plastic ones mixed in. You know, to spread out the real ones...

The floral equivalent of watering down the drinks, really.

He didn't actually do it. Just thought about it.

[ooc: OCD free, open, I'm around (but sick, blargh)]

Hurley hung a sign in the window of Groovy Tunes today.

25% off any album with 'Vanilla' or 'Rain' on the packaging.

It helped to be topical, he hoped. Meanwhile, the mix of music playing in the store was under the same sort of restraints. This meant it kept jumping from RAIN to Vanilla Ice to a certain Prince album.

Hurley just went with it.

Groovy Tunes was open.

[ooc: And so is the post. And the OCD ran away from the mention of Vanilla Ice.]
[identity profile] likes-chicken.livejournal.com
After he got to work, Hurley looked at the stack of new notes and just chuckled. He then, of course, added to the pile.

For what it's worth, I think the rhododendrons ate 'em. Fifteen or sixteen of them look reeeeeally smug to day. We gotta be careful, otherwise they might get us too. If weren't not, we might not make it to be twenty-three or forty, too.

He set the note to where people would see it, before getting ready for anyone who needed to rush in and order some flowers.

It was a new day and there was no better way to start a new day than with the continuation of the carnival. There was still snow coating the ground but the atmosphere was as lively as ever. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

Hurley read through the notes that had stacked up since his last shift.

It finally dawned on him what everyone was joking about, and he felt kinda sheepish for a moment, before he added another note to the pile.

He wrote one of his own.

Uhhh, guys? Please tell me this is joking and the flowers aren't going to actually, like, attack us or anything. That would suck.

For those of you wondering where Hurley has been this week, the answer is simple: hiding. The whole affair over the weekend embarrassed him so greatly, that he's been hoping that he could just ignore it and it never would have happened.

It was to be an extravagant affair, with a mariachi band performing the music. Father Ned, of course, had his services hired to perform the actual ceremony. It may have been a rush arrangement, but it had to be. Hugo Reyes needed to marry his blushing bride before she was fully aware of his international playboy reputation, not to mention a few of his other deep dark secrets.

Hurley was actually a little disappointed. Sure, he didn't really want to deal with any parental outrage or anything, but with everyone else meeting family, he was a little bummed.

So he actually called home on his shift at Groovy Tunes today. And promptly got his ear chewed off because his mother had found the Parents Weekend letter in the trash. Carmen was very disappointed in her Hugo.

Hurley didn't blame her.

He sighed after his mom was done yelling at him, and put on a mix of classical music, just to be more parent friendly.
