Beach; Sunday Afternoon
Luke was new to town, but that didn't mean he was going to let not knowing how things work around here stop him from his usual activities. It was Fourth of July and there were two things you should do on that day: Watch that movie with Will Smith in it and light some sparklers on fire. He had already done the former and, now that it was getting dark, it was time to blow up shiny things.
He had found a spot on the beach where he wouldn't burn anything down, made a bonfire and then snapped up whatever fireworks he could think of. Sparklers, Roman Candles, Wheels, Snakes, Parachutes, and even some of the bigger ones that may have been less than legal in this country (he was debating on whether or not he'd light those). Truly a pyromaniac's dream come true.
Luke snapped up some burgers and sodas and he was ready to celebrate July 4th in style.
[Impromptu beach party yesss.Hold on, I'm adding OCD There you go!]

"It's an American holiday, from when we separated our country from England," Luke explained. "It's mostly an excuse to eat a lot and light fireworks."

Barely keeping down her grin, she nodded, taking the stick and clutching it excitedly in her hand. She looked it over, figuring that it looked like any other metal stick might look but, clearly, it was going to do something interesting.
Even if it didn't, light it hopefully meant setting it on fire, and even if that's all there was to fireworks, Ariel was totally game.

But Ariel didn't get a chance to finish that sarcastic comment in her head, because she was too easily distracted by the oooh pretty. It wasn't quite like fire; in a way, it was almost better, with the way it sizzled and sparked and crept down the stick as it send out showers of light. She could feel the head of it on her face, and there was just so much of i--
The spark sputtered a bit, shrank down for a second, and then putz out completely. Ariel blinked, staring at the charred remains of her sprinkler and wondering that was it?

Never let it be said being half-god didn't have it's perks.

He'd be taking a few steps back himself.
Re: Mingling
Her eyes were trained on the diminishing fuse with anticipation, and then--
Boom! There went, in a flash of color and sound, leaving Ariel quite astounded in its wake.
For about two second, until a grin spread onto her face and she was darting back to grab another, because she so needed to do that again!

Luke sneakily whipped up another lighter, not wanting to freak Ariel out with his powers, and held up the firework in his hand. "You ready?"
Re: Mingling
Ariel grinned at Luke, her head bobbing up and down to show how ready she was.
