Ben had been working quite happily on his datapad for an hour without incident.

Then he accidentally clicked on an ad and ended up in an endless loop of quizzes ("Do You Care Too Much?" "What Kind of Lover Are You?" "Are You With the Right Person?" "The Kinsey Test Made Simple!!1!").

"Go away, go away, go away..." Ben muttered, blushing hard.

Fixer-Uppers was open! And embarrassed.

"I think you might need to look into your selection process if that's the case," Ender said, "Sounds like a waste of Force-sensitives."

"Maybe," Ben said. "Want to write a letter to the Council?"

"I'd want to tell them in person."

Because that would be such a brilliant idea.

Ben snickered. "You think I'm letting you near the entire Council in person?"

"Who knows," Ender said, dryly, "It might do them some good."

It was obvious he was joking, though.

Ben burst out laughing. "Oh, they are always open to constructive criticism," he said, trying and failing not to giggle all the way through that statement.

And someone worse than Ender would've made fun of the giggling...

"Good," Ender said, "Because if that lightsaber thing is true, they're going to wind up with a real personel problem."

"Only if they keep their lightsabers in their pants," Ben said, eyes twinkling.

"I don't know whether I should be proud or concerned that you've finally dipped into the lightsaber innuendo market," Ender said, after a beat.

"Proud," Ben decided, smiling. "I blame the pop-up ads."

Ender sighed. "I guess I should be grateful that at least your datapad has given up on giving you sex advice."

Ben's cheeks went pink. "At least for the moment," he replied.

Not that he needed the help, okay?

...Ender's narrative would like to answer that, but there were so many reasons why it chose not to.

"Maybe whatever it is is taking things down a notch."

Or up. Ben should be happy - or maybe less so, because knowing might lead Ender to yell at Jane a little sooner - that Ender had no idea what the quizzes were about.

"I hope," Ben said. "I've tried tweaking the programming for my firewalls a bit, but I'm not it's made much of a difference."

"And it's still only happening in the store?" Ender checked.

Ben nodded. "But I'm not really on my datapad much other than here and the room," he said.

"Strange," Ender observed, "I would've guessed you use it all the time during lightsaber practice. Or maybe at the gym..."

Ben reached out to poke Ender in the arm. "Funny."

"Not really, but I had to give it a shot," Ender said, rubbing at his arm once Ben was finished poking it. "Though I haven't heard anything about anyone else having trouble since William last week, so it really might be wearing off."

Or 'it' might just be really interested in people surrounding Ender.

"Huh," Ben said. "Do you want to put up a note behind the desk or something to double check with everyone else? I'm going to feel picked on if it's just me."

He was smiling, though.

"A note might be a good idea," Ender agreed, "Though I'm not sure I want to, now. Feeling picked on might be good for your ego."

Ben stuck his tongue out at him. "You're always looking out for my best interests, huh?"

"For mine," Ender corrected him, looking a little amused, "You just happen to live near me."

"Ahhh, selfish self-interest," Ben said, laughing. "I should have realized."

"Move out of my room, and your head can be as big as you like," Ender supplied.
