Steven bumped their noses together as Llewellyn pulled away from the kiss. "Lucky me you were here. And I'm sorry things were confusing early on."

Steven relaxed. "Me too. Friendship first was better. Good to not have rushed things, I think. I mean - can't speed up or slow down emotions, I suppose. But I'm grateful I got to know you as a friend first. And that you were so patient with me about when we went on to - er - more."

In a few senses of "more" there.

"You're worth it," Steven said. He offered Llewellyn a piece of caramel corn. "I know your comfort with public displays has no relation to how you feel about me."

Steven bumped their shoulders together. "What are beaus for? Besides, this way I get to be proud of how far you've come."

Steven grinned. "Sharing snacks?"

"Keeping company at carnivals?" Steven suggested, because he could make a very long list here as needed.

"Going on holiday with," Steven said. "Learning new languages with. Reading poetry with - which is entirely different from regular reading, mind. Whole other thing. Counts separate."

"Even doing nothing at all," Steven agreed. Then a thought occurred to him and he looked hopeful. "Oh! Or having a lie in? Tomorrow?"

Steven bumped their shoulders together again. "That shy about breakfast in bed, are we?"

"Could be," Steven said. He thought about what they had at home. "Might have to hit the shops on our way back, make sure we have enough for something."

Steven and Llewellyn get distracted by seeing one another dressed up? What were the odds?

"On our way home from here, perhaps," Steven said. "Long as we're out and about."

Even if there were now fewer places to shop at.

Steven hadn't even considered the slow cooker option, so this bit of brilliance had Steven looking at Llewellyn with heart eyes. "I love you."

"You're amazing," Steven told him. Which was really a continuation of his previous thought about loving Llewellyn but perhaps offered insight into why he'd felt the need to declare it. "Brilliant, in fact."
