Another week, another exciting book find!

A book of Kamigawan script, Liliana knew just enough to begin to puzzle through it--which was enough to get the gist of it. It was not an artifact - at least, she didn't think so, but instead, a book of Kamigawan poetry.

Seeing the moonlight
spilling down
through these trees,
my heart fills to the brim
with autumn.

How sad,
to think I will end
as only
a pale green mist
drifting the far fields.

Reading a little further, becoming ever more fluent with every stanza, she realized that it was actually a book of Kamigawan love poetry.

Did he appear
Because I fell asleep
Thinking of him?
If only I’d known I was dreaming
I’d never have awakened.

No, wait, this was a book of Kamigawan erotic love poetry. Thoroughly engrossed, Liliana curled up in her chair, in dire need of chocolate or sweet fruits or something as she read.

When my desire
Grows too fierce
I wear my bed clothes
Inside out,
Dark as the night’s rough husk.

My longing for you—
Too strong to keep within bounds.
At least no one can blame me
When I go to you at night
Along the road of dreams.

"I might have been less dismissive of Jace's little Moonfolk friend if I'd known she could get me copies of books like this," she gleefully murmured to herself.

Ignis wasn't quite sure if it wasn't purely coincidence or if there really was something to the fact that, after last week's supper club venture, the following Tuesday involved a sudden influx of chickpeas at the diner. Honestly, at this point, either instance seemed like it could be a possibility, so he just brushed it off, deciding that it didn't really matter, but that he now had a single incredient to focus on for working into all his specials that day.

And, with some carefully consideration, soon enough, he was snapping his fingers with the idea for a few recipehs, and got to work.

Liliana was dealing with the most frustrating of indignities today. At some point Friday, she must have wandered into a spawning point of mosquitoes or something because she had a number of bites from the miserable little things. Normally, biting insects didn't bother her; her preternatural chill didn't register her as a potential food source for them, but apparently nobody had passed that fact along to the bugs on the island. They had decided she was delicious - which, obviously, but she would have been happier if they hadn't made that discovery - and she was wondering if she was down a pint or two of blood with the number of bites she's found.

None of which put her in a particularly good temper, no. Which was why she was ignoring today's shipment in favor of glaring in the general direction of the park and working on a spell specifically designed to kill mosquitoes. In droves. Possibly enough to unbalance the entire ecosystem.

Good.

Jaina had had a rough couple weeks, so it was sort of a good thing, personally, for a bunch of godzillas to invade a place where she could take those frustrations out on them. Sorry, godzillas! You picked the wrong day to pick a fight!

There were a few in the park, so she was staying local to there, dealing with one in particular that seemed annoyed enough that she was fighting back to keep it up. She might be kind of humoring it at this point. It was like catharsis. There were plenty more if anyone else wanted to take a crack at it!

Quinn was not covered in any sort of goo when she got to the shop for her first shift! She was, however, kinda sweaty and looking faintly pissed (which for her meant she was obnoxiously angry), holding what she was sure had to be the world's ugliest t-shirt.

"Does that Skywalker guy shop here?" she asked . . . the universe, probably, since she hadn't spotted Liliana yet. "Because this shirt is definitely cursed."

Sometimes, you got artifacts that you knew exactly what they were for. Sometimes, you got artifacts that you had no idea what they were for. And then, sometimes, you got artifacts that you knew what they were for, technically, but still had no idea how, or, more importantly, why?

Like the newly-arrived helm of the host. What would possess someone to wear this? What about the weight? The balance? The likelihood of it getting caught on literally everything?

Maybe someone would want to buy it as a conversational piece, because surely no one was stupid enough to want to buy it and use it as an actual helmet.

Fish tank cleaning day? Fish tank cleaning day.

Usually, Prompto sort of dreaded the work that came along with it, even if he did always feel like he was honoring Sidon especially when it was time to do it, but this time around, he was actually kind of glad to have something to focus his attention on to keep his mind from wandering too much. There was just so much happening these days that it could get a little overwhelming for someone who definitely overthought everything, so having a nice methodical task with clear results was nice...even if he was likely to get distracted about five million times over in the process.

Noctra was more interested in just sitting inside emptied out fish tanks and claiming she was a cat instead of actually helping, but that was fine, too. Especially since she made up for it by helping him redecorate for the fish when it came to filling the tanks back up.

Apologies to all the fish with horse-themed tanks now, and to all the animals who had to deal with the meltdown that spawned from Prompto's attempts to explain why littering some tanks with a bunch of Cup NoodleTM containers was bad for the fish, actually.

He was definitely going to have to find a way to get Gladio back for the argument of "But Uncle Gladdy says Cup NoodleTM is for eberyone!"

Blame the camping trip over tge weekend, for all its ups and downs (mostly downs, or at least just below middle ground), but Ignis found himself a bit...nostalgic in the kitchen that Tuesday, pulling up some of the classics dishes he'd whip up on the road for their hunting palettes. There was comfort there, after all, in those familiar recipes, although now that his plans were now quite out there in the open, he did feel surprisingly at peace about everything.

And mildly amused about how his next conversation with Kristoff would include explaining photography to him, to better answer Prompto's clearly pressing question.

It was raining outside, with thunderstorms likely to follow, which put Liliana in a contemplative mood. Rain just did that sometimes --or perhaps it was everything else going on, from Ignis' camping trip to the delivery of Jon's translation. Thoughts of history and the future, Innistrad and Dominarian, Phyrexia and demons swirled in her head.

She had begun making her own translation, of course, from English to Benalish, only to stop and wonder Why? What was her plan, that she'd need to translate it into her birth tongue, a language she hadn't spoken since her spark had ignited and she'd Planeswalked away from her family's home...

Foolishness. Maudlin contemplations brought on by the rain and the madness of the last few weeks. Much better to sit behind her counter and play her lyre instead, leaving her own translations in the bin.

There was a small table outside of the shop covered in pastel books with various sketches of sunsets, beaches, and umbrellas.

Flint was done with beach reads.

TAKE THESE AND PAY ME read the sign under them in ornate, old-fashioned handwriting.

Flint was inside watching the table carefully, so don't even think about taking one and not paying him.

The Ink Spot was open and taking a cautious step towards actual commerce. Good job, Flint.

It really did feel good to be back, to have some sense of normalcy and a return to routine. Granted, there was a good deal still on Ignis' mind...and now that he'd been honest with Liliana about his side quest for vampirism, he had a lot of work to do. If anything, the threat to Innistrad had really shown him that he'd best narrow in his focus and concentrate on accomplishing his task well before there was another opportunity for his plans to be put in jeopardy again.

But now, Innistrad was in a place of healing, just as he and Liliana were, after everything with Emrakul. If he wanted to make progress, he couldn't have asked for a better time to step in and make himself known to those who might one day be the progenitors of his immortality.

He was, oddly enough, in no rush to get started on that, though, even if he knew that the best time to strike was while the iron was hot. Or, in this case, before it cooled down. But he might need a bit more of a break from Innistrad before he truly got started on all of that.

And then there was Gladio and Prompto, and talking to them about it, as well. This weekend. On their camping trip. So he had that to worry about first.

One step at a time, really. And right now, the steps needing to be taken involved whipping up a specials board, and rather hoping his current preoccupations hadn't been too obvious in its selections.

....he had most certainly failed.

From the fuss the chair and the armor made at her reappearance, one would think Liliana had been gone for months rather than a few weeks. And, truth be told, it made her feel decidedly odd. On the one hand, yes, of course she should be adored and missed. On the other hand, her underlings - which these most certainly were - ought to be properly terrified of her and should have seen her absence as an escape.

Was she losing her touch? Was she becoming...nice?

Wonderful. A small identity crisis to deal with on a Monday. Just what she always wanted.

There was something...off about the mirror Liliana received today. Artifacts were not her strong suit, of course, but she wasn't about the discount the uneasy feeling the mirror caused every time she passed it. The skin on her forearms prickled into goosebumps every time, and she swore the area around it was several degrees colder than the rest of the store. Every so often, she thought she spotted some kind of shadow within the depths. And, her least favorite, there was a persistent feeling of being watched.

At first, she assumed it was simply haunted. But a haunting would fall right in her bailiwick, and whatever this was did not. She narrowed her eyes at the silvered surface. "I don't know what you are," she said, "but if you try anything in my shop, I will wear your heart as a glove."

The mirror did not respond, but the watched feeling didn't abate and neither did Liliana's suspicions.

"Well, aren't you interesting," Liliana said, holding up an elaborate mask from the week's delivery. Its near twin rested on the counter in front of her; waiting for its own in-depth examination. "You're fascinating because you're ancient," she murmured at it, tracing her finger along the worn bone of the mask proper before picking up the other. "And you're fascinating because you're new. But you both have the same candlewax on you." She laughed, low in her throat. "Someone in Kessig is being very naughty indeed."

The rest of the shipment was off to the side, completely ignored, while Liliana took notes on what she was able to gather from the masks themselves. Eventually, the masks were placed in the display window, but Liliana continued to ignore the rest of the items still in the crate. Because now she was curious and why do any of the work she was supposed to do, when she could while away the hours playing detective instead?

ONE NIGHT ONLY:
INVENT YOUR OWN DRINK, GET IT FOR FREE FOREVER

Rules:
1. You pay for any drinks you make tonight.
2. After tonight, anytime you get the drink named after yourself, it's on the house.
3. Yes, forever. (Or until someone else gets the bar and doesn't honor it.)
4. Must have at least two ingredients. E.g. you can't ask for a beer and call it The Logan.

Kitty had no idea how many people were actually interested in this, but you know what, sometimes you had to do something different. And by "different" that meant "it had been probably like five years."

"Huh," Liliana said, reaching into the crate and pulling out the ransom note tucked away within. It was written in Ravnican, from letters cut out from magazines and pasted to a ragged piece of paper that smelled strongly of the Smelting Quarter. "Well," Liliana said, picking it up and scanning the lines quickly. "This is rather awkward. Pity about the hostage."

But it wasn't her problem, and so she tossed the note away without a second thought. She had stocking to get to, what with all this new inventory that had probably been intended to get the victim back.

Whoops.

Summer was in a very different place than she was last time the island was beset by this particularly sexy bout of whimsy, which mostly just meant that she was slightly annoyed and reluctant to head into the bar that day, but she figured it was good to get, you know, some fresh air and be a productive member of society or whatever. She did come prepared, though, repurposing one of her spray bottles that she usually used on Pancakes when she tried to eat plants and keeping it full of ice water to spray at people who were getting a little too...well...you know...

Liliana was having trouble focusing on work today. Now, most people would assume that Liliana had trouble focusing on work every week, considering how little she cared about her business or the dragon that owned it, but they would be mistaken. Most weeks, Liliana didn't have trouble focusing on work, she just actively chose not to. An important difference.

This week, she'd half-intended to at least unpack and organize the packages that had arrived while she'd been flitting around off the island, but she just...wasn't really getting much done. Well. Work-wise, anyway. Ignis' cell phone was once again getting a barrage of messages while he was at class, but did that really count as work when it was art? And when she loved what she did?

With a new cheese fridge and a new property to go along with the new year, there was little surprise that Ignis' inspiration was taking a particular turn toward Argentinian cuisine again. Liliana had considered skipping work today to protest Ignis starting classes - something something they didn't both have to start be industrious on the same day something something - but reluctantly dragged herself to work anyway. It wasn't like any deliveries that had accumulated over the holidays were going to unpack themselves.

Well, considering what she sold, that wasn't necessarily true, but odds were that anything that unpacked itself was probably just going to be obnoxious and something for her to deal with anyway.

But sometimes, the gods of industry blessed the deserving (no, Ignis, don't be ridiculous, she refused to learn from this), because the first crate she opened today held...a book. No. Not just any book.

A Thran tome.

"Sweet Serra," Liliana whispered, taking the relic out with careful hands. She didn't know whether this was an original, or simply an ancient copy, but it honestly didn't matter. The value of the knowledge contained therein, even if it turned out to be nothing more than a cookbook, was incalculable.

Ha ha, joke was on you, gods of industry. Once Liliana sat down to page through the tome and start puzzling out Ancient Thran, the rest of the inventory could catch fire and she'd hardly notice and certainly wouldn't care.

It was the day before Christmas Eve and Liliana had gotten to use the umbrella she had modified last year to catch all of the chocolate coins that were falling. Clearly, it was an excellent day to be Liliana (as most days were, honestly. But some days it was great with chocolate.)

Rather than allowing anything as unpleasant as work sully her excellent day, Liliana had brought a book along to work with her - a very frivolous and tawdry novel, perfect for the last day of work for the year - and was snuggled up in one of the many thick, warm blankets she'd had brought to the store to keep her warm now that the weather was getting chillier still. A cup of tea and piles of gelt to nibble on made this an almost perfect shift.

Last year, Liliana had had no idea what the mistletoe meant when a cluster of it began bobbing after her oh-so-innocently. This year, however, she was well-aware of its tricks and so was regarding the bits of greenery in the air with narrowed eyes and a distinctly aggressive expression. There were several piles of necromatically rotted mistletoe in front of the building, left there as a warning for the others. Not that any of the cheerfully hovering mistletoe in the shop seemed to be paying them any mind.

There was also a sign in the window. Not one offering the newest weird item for sale, but a head's up.

The ballroom was done up for the Yule in honor with a particularly unique chandelier at the ready to keep with the theme. There was a collection of trees for the guests to help decorate and a distressing number of mistletoe hung around with care. If you were prone to enjoying that.

The trees ranged from table-sized to ceiling-scraping and a few of them already had decorations on them: one filled with ornaments clearly made by children, one full of Avengers action figures (how were there so many suits, Tony? How?), and one decorated with the natural ornaments traditional for Yule: berries, pinecones, and dried fruit. Steve and Tony had overruled actual candles on any of the trees, but the traditional fire to celebrate the season was flickering from its containment area on the roof.

And it was snowing indoors just enough to be thematic, but melting before it could actually reach the guests and mess up their nice clothing. Because sometimes Tony just needed to flex on the science skills. Sometimes.

As soon as Lydia had realized what the island had done this time, she had called Pizza Planet to ask if they needed to reschedule the Supper Club, but Mr. Raiden had assured her they could still be accommodated, and she was choosing to take him at his word. She supposed some menu items might not be available, but she was terribly grateful to not have to shift for herself without so much as a dull butter knife.

"Oh!" she exclaimed as she remembered something. "While we are all assembled, I would like to hear your thoughts on the continuation of the Supper Club. There are still a few dining establishments left on the island we have not tried yet, but then we must decide how to move forward. I have had both moving over to the mainland to expand our options and beginning the rotation of the island's eateries anew proposed to me, and I would quite like to know if there is a consensus on how best to proceed. Summer pretty much knew what to expect today when she came into the bar. She had, after all, spent whatever time she wasn't using to make jello shots for tonight or do some online holiday shopping trying to prevent her cat for torturing the small balls of sugar rolling around and making disturbingly cute little sounds at her every chance they got.

It had been an ongoing battle, and she was sure she was going to return to a sentient-sugarball massacre in her apartment when she got home tonight, but, right now, she was just watching the balls rolling around the bar and having a grand old time, giggling and leaving trails of sugar everywhere.

"I hope you know," she stated, plainly and clearly, as she looked at Tino a moment before finally breaking out of her distraction to get to work, "that I'm not cleaning any of that up tonight."

She started cleaning a glass and then paused.

"Wait," she realized, "if they're going to just disappear tomorrow, does that mean the mess they leave behind will, too?"

That would make things so much easier, but she still kind of hoped that at least Tino still had to clean something up.

It was good for him! It built character!

Defying any sort of logic or reason, there had been a very persistent abundance of lemons in the diner that morning, which Greg oh-so-hilariously, really, attributed to a sign of Ignis' sour personality. That earned him quite the withering expression and, trying to keep the peace, Ali then offered a cheerful aphorism to smooth things over.

Because, hey, when life gave you lemons...

...Ignis Scientia was not going to make lemonade, especially not during the wintertime, but he was, however, going to figure out a way to work it into his special boards regardless in, quite frankly, much more creative recipehs, thank you very much.

"If you don't stop chewing on that banner, I'm going to turn you into glue," Liliana informed the little pony that had made its way into her shop. It turned to look at her with big eyes under a floppy mane, and she glared back, unmoved by either it or the adorable little sweater it was wearing.

At least outwardly.

"Don't look at me like that," she informed it. "You're going to develop laminitis and be no good to anyone. You're a pony, not a donkey."

Instead of being properly chastened, the pony clip-clopped its way to Liliana and started to nose at her hand and clothes, looking for treats. With a sigh, she handed over a sugar cube that had...fallen on the ground from her tea. Yes. Absolutely that. "Don't think this is you getting your way," she informed it as it gently lapped at her hand. "That will just make you spoiled and unrideable. Hmm."

You know what? Liliana needed to make a few calls...

There hadn't been any servants around this morning, so Thor had had to get himself ready with the advice, if not assistance, of what he had decided was not a dread spirit but rather his imaginary friend Don.

Despite finding being relegated to imaginary friend status kind of hurtful (though he found tiny Thor adorable and hoped someone got pictures), Don, not trusting tiny Thor in the kitchen at all, had directed him to the bakery, and so there was a tiny prince of Asgard inspecting the baked goods on display thoughtfully, trying to pick the very best one(s) with which to break his fast.

I don't suppose you can lift Mjolnir like this. Actually, from what Don remembered of its history, Mjolnir shouldn't have existed yet, but Thor didn't bat an eye at the question.

"Oh, no. I'm probably centuries off from that."

Great. Maybe it wouldn't last long? What about the blueberry muffin?

"Hmmmmmm..."

J,GoB is open, and currently hosting a very small prince of Asgard and his 'imaginary friend' for breakfast.

(OOC: For those who can see ghosts and such, Don will be tagging along with Thor in his (glowy and transparent) spirit form for the weekend, the better to at least try to supervise!)

When Summer came into the bar that evening, Tino asked her if she wanted to know his family's special recipe for stuffing, and she said no, but he told her anyway, and then she told him that now she was going to take that recipe and put it in jello, and so if anyone wondered why Tino was sulking at one end o the bar, it was because he had learned a very important lesson (which, let's be real, he should know by now with how long they'd been working together) in never telling Summer anything she doesn't want to know, because she will absolutely take that information and try to use it against you in any way she can.

And Summer was sulking because she really did mean it, she really didn't want to know, because you knew whatever was a traditional recipe in Tino's family had to be knowledge that no normal human should ever have to carry, which was why, on occasion, she just would occasionally find herself shouting out, "Really, Tino? Fucking raisins??" and looking at him like he was the ultimate scum of the Earth, because she was now convinced he very well may be.

Whatever else Liliana might have had planned for the day was quite thoroughly replaced upon receiving a certain message just as her hand touched the knob to unlock the back door of her shop. And then she ended up standing there for much longer than she'd like to admit to anyone, including herself, debating whether she should actually bother with the day's work (something she rarely needed encouragement to skip as it were), or should just turn around and return home immediately.

How dare you, Ignis Scientia. She was never indecisive, and yet--!

That, in fact, was the reason she'd ended up going to work in the end, anyway. If he were waiting for her back at the mansion, half-dressed and hoping, he deserved it for making her hesitate over a question as easy as should I bother going to work today? and then, of all things, being the reason she decided that the answer should be yes.

Though if he sent her another poem, she would be home so fast he'd forget that teleportation had been lost in the Mending.

If not, she still had his first to listen to again. Several times. Shut up.

Dean was greeted at the door by a chair ambush that resulted in a ten minute standoff between them before he was finally able to secure the chair. The chair was so fiesty Dean eventually had to hang it from one of the wooden beams in the ceiling.

The remainder of the morning was him sifting through all the messages and voicemails left behind by hunters regarding cover work and lore requests. Luckily Jody and Garth had stepped in for coverage while he was a fuzz ball so mostly he was just making apologies for the “sudden trip” he had to take at the last minute.

With that all done he split his time between cleaning up things at the shop and researching for anything weird going on back home.

The shop was open. Mind the hanging chair.

"What do you mean," Ignis asked, brows furrowed at Greg, as they so often were, when he came in that morning, before he'd even poured his first cup of coffee (at the diner), which was just rude and a terrible faux pas on his coworker's part, "I can only make soup?"

Apparently, the island decided to turn everything they were whipping up in the diner's kitchen that day into soup. With the exception, thank the gods, of the coffee, although Greg did point out in his explanation that wasn't coffee just essentially bean broth?

That was when Ignis decided that he was just not going to listen to Greg any more that day if he could help it, and if he was going to be forced to make soup, he would make soup with intention.

At least it was the season for it, and not, gods forbid, in the high heat of the summertime, or else he'd have to get truly creative with some gazpachos.

Some Mondays she had to do battle with indestructible creatures. Some Mondays, she got into arguments with an ambush predator that looked like an entirely normal armchair and a ghost in a suit of armor. Some Mondays, she even had to deal with her single employee who was also a dog at the time.

And some Mondays were easy and relaxing, where she could just put the day's weird delivery in the window and then settle back behind the counter playing stupid little phone games.

Liliana really, really liked those Mondays. A pity there weren't more of them.

Turns out the coziness had spread to The Perk as well. There were still a few tables, but most of the furniture had been replaced? transformed? into cozy, comfortable options. Bean bag chairs, low couches and loveseats, floor pillows, even an overstuffed recliner were spread over the space. (The recliner wasn't her armchair playing tricks, she'd checked.) There were also blankets, fuzzy oversized hoodies, and cuddly sweaters for people to wrap themselves up in. Stacks of books and magazines were randomly placed, as well as a few cooperative board games, knitting and crocheting supplies.

When Ignis came into the kitchen and started to get things set up for the daily specials, he was surprised by just how many pumpkins there actually were in the diner that day. He had, of course, expected some amount of the obiquitous gourd to be present in the pantries at this time of year, but after nearly half a dozen shoved aside into a half a dozen more, he just had to ask.

"Exactly how many pumpkins do we have in here today? Surely, something must be done about this seasonal swarm of succulent squash?"

"I think you know what to do, Chef," Greg said, nodding as he handed Ignis an apron.

And Ignis tied it on with a sigh, and prepared a knife with far more flourish than could ever be necessariy. "Yes. Yes, I'm afraid I do..."

Liliana sat behind the counter and glared. Dean, still a dog, sat on the floor staring back at her, waiting for the least sign that this was a game, whereupon he would immediately dash off as fast as he could into whichever direction seemed best in his miniscule dog brain, paying no attention to what might be in that direction. Which was why, among other things, she was down a crystal vase that had fallen when he'd slammed into a side table, a mirror that didn't survive him skidding into a wall when trying to switch direction mid-dash, and no fewer than three teacups from differing sets.

"I will absolutely be sending you an itemized list for replacements," Liliana informed Dean. "As well as for refinishing my floors - again! - from your claws." Dean barked several times in response. "Ah, yes, thank you for reminding me," she said. "I need to figure out how to charge you for my lost sleep from your ridiculous noise."

Dean whined, settling down on the floor and resting his chin on his front paws, looking sadly up at her.

Liliana eyed him back, vastly unimpressed. "When I let you out to the beach, do me a favor and run away." Not that she had much faith in that. She had kicked him out several times already, but he would just sit on his haunches and howl until the door was opened and he was allowed back inside. Hence the lost sleep charge. She hadn't brought him with her to work today, he had just taken upon himself to follow her.

"Sadist," she growled. "Go sit on the chair."

Dean gave her a look that suggested that, even as a dog, he wasn't that stupid.

"Can't blame a necromancer for trying," she sighed and resolved to ignore him for the rest of the day.

Supririsngly absolutely no one who knew him, Ignis was taking a bit of inspiration from the school trip and bringing it to the specials board at Luke's that week. Which had Greg asking if that pretty much just meant a lot of maple syrup and poutine, and Ignis, scoffing, refused to dignify that with a response until he'd had a sip of his coffee.

And once he had that sip, he pointed out that there was so much more to Canadian cuisine than maple syrup and poutine.

"Yeah, but there's going to be maple syrup and poutine, though, right?"

"Well," Ignis huffed slightly, "yes. I must admit that I am planning on having those today, but that's hardly the point. It isn't all maple syrup and poutine."

"Right," Greg nodded, "so All-Dressed chips, too, right?"

"...please do not speak to me again until this mug is empty, for your safety as well as everyone else's."

It was difficult dragging herself to work after a lovely week off, but Liliana eventually did it, albeit with ill-grace. Her temper was not improved by seeing that Dean had left her something to deal with...what, two Tuesdays ago now?

Well, at least it was an artifact, even if she had no idea what kind, so being abandoned for two weeks wasn't going to hurt the thing any.

Then Liliana opened the box and wished that being abandoned for two weeks had hurt the thing. "I hate you, Dean," she sighed. It didn't matter that she'd done the same to him several times now. It didn't matter that she'd basically told him to do it. It was too early on a Monday morning for...that.

"Hmm, do I want to deal with this today?" she asked the empty air - for the sheer drama of it, obviously. She was already turning to head back to the counter, tossing the answer over her shoulder with casual disregard. "No."

What? No one said 'words of power' had to be fancy.
