Turtle & Canary; Monday [04/29].

Summer's recent bout of squirreling had gone on for well over a week now, and so she'd become increasingly insistent about Stark not dragging her around everywhere, and this caution was proven wise when, not very long after he left to go to the clinic, she was, in fact, back to herself again, in the comfort of her own home, as it should be. And since a glance at her phone told her immediately that it was Monday, she figured she'd take care of a few things, have a nice long shower, and do the most boring and terribly normal thing for a human to do: go to fucking work.

Especially since she'd heard from the other squirrels that Prompto had turned into an animal, too, which meant it was just Apu and the usual animals in the store, and, sure, the store pretty much would run itself when left to its own devices, but she felt Apu would appreciate that Summer was able to help again.

Of course, she walked in, saw a hug display about zippers, noticed anything with zippers was 50% off today, let out a little sigh and a shake of her head, but it was mostly just relieved that she may have been changed to a small furry rodent, but some things never did.

I was leaning 'lost my phone'.

To hopefully no one's surprise.

Well, Atton was 50/50 on whether they were mostly his roommate telling him he was insane and he was moving out with a Greek chorus of Jill, or Jill yelling at him for worrying his roommate, and his roommate worrying at him, with possibly a slice of Trent being a weirdo about it.

He had no idea. He hadn't looked.

or I could just not

Okay, but being a shifty coward was where Atton felt most comfortable. Interpersonally, anyway.

Atton sighed, well aware of above fact, and also that Summer was speaking facts, and he hated every minute of it. He wasn't sure whether the greatest mistake of his life was 'not allowing himself to start learning how to be a functioning human being around other people until his late thirties' or 'learning how to be a functioning human being around other people after a lifetime of not doing so, thus opening himself up to all kinds of problems'.

Kind of a long hair/short hair dilemma, there.

why does this getting it together thing have to be so complicated all the time

Atton looked up at the ceiling.

fine. but if this blows up in my face u better have some extra shots lined up for me on wednesday.

Because now he probably had to catch a portal ASAP, instead of allowing himself to keep avoiding it and making things worse. UGH.

Somewhere, somehow, Mira was muttering, 'Okay, but have you met him?' out loud right now and didn't know why.

I just don't want to fuck this up, Atton texted.

Then, immediately after, because he'd been vulnerable enough and it was starting to make him twitchy, anyway how glad are u to be human sized again.
suitably_heroic: (dsp: really?)

Well, at least Atton's actual paid therapist would be picking this up soon enough.

famous last words, smith. anyway thanks I'll send you some cake or something.
suitably_heroic: (dsp: woah.)

[personal profile] suitably_heroic 2024-04-29 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks.

And yes, two hours later, that absolutely was a cake delivery guy showing up with something enormous, pink and sugary. What? Occasionally, Atton could keep his word.

I just spent an hour getting methodically deconstructed by my therapist please don't tempt fate, Atton texted, sighing.

Well I had my brain beaten in with a large brick of 'the reasons why I do this and why I should stop' and that's almost the same thing right

There had also been a lot of arguing.

that's the problem isn't it? Therapy would definitely make ppl feel better if it was all venting and no doing anything. But no

Atton made a loud, exasperated, resigned noise in the privacy of his hotel room. yeah yeah and I wouldn't be going if I didn't actually want to get better blah blah

Saying 'blah blah' didn't make it not true, Rand.

ever get the feeling life would just be easier if we stuck to rock bottom

Atton eyed that message.

Whoa, what did rock bottom ever do to you?
