Groovy Tunes; Monday [ 06/30 ]

It was going to be a very busy day at Groovy Tunes for Chad today. Beside him on the counter was a large stack of seemingly random magazines, ones that he would be flipping through in between customers and restocking to see if that ad was running yet.

Very important work, of course.

That wasn't going very well, since Chad found himself often distracted by thinks like an article on digital music engineering or Britney Spears' latest trainwreck caper.

Especially that last one. He was mostly just trying to figure out exactly what the story there was because so many magazines seemed to report it differently.

Today's Mix: Couldn't Be More Random if I Tried

Groovy Tunes is open!

Hinata, somewhat bemused by the colder shift in temperature, had debated for a long while about bringing Yei out to see Chad-san and Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-kun today.

Yei purring 'round her ankles though had changed her mind. How could she deny the kitten the outing that she'd been promised? So, bundled up slightly against the cold, and with a purring kitten tucked protectively into her coat, Hinata slipped inside the store.

"Good morning, Chad-san."

Hinata would surely notice the cuts as soon as she finished extracting Yei from her coat as the kitten had started squirming the moment the temperature from inside the store hit her.

"I d-don't think the temperature is," she said, with a smile. And then Yei was out, and she was holding her, and purring as her head swivelled to glance around the store. "But y-you've got a visitor."

She most certainly was, and hello! He was a lot bigger than Mommy but that was alright, and snuggles and ear scritches were adored and could he hear her purring? She could purr louder.

Hinata grinned at her kitten, and the way she was purring all over Chad-san. "T-This is Yei," she said.

He might be called Chad by Mommy, but Yei was thinking of him more as Really-Big-Hands-Person, and that was more than alright with her. That just meant more scritches, and she rubbed her head against him cheerfully, not yet having noticed any other kittens in the store.

Hinata had though, and smiled. "Looks l-like someone else is curious too."

Yei's ears perked up and she let out a curious chirp of a mew, still purring, but wiggling now to get away from Chad so she could go and investigate.

"He's i-in a bit of a mood today?" Hinata asked, noticing the cuts on Chad-san's face.

Yei darted over to the shelf, all kitten-eagerness and bounce, entirely for investigating purposes not playing ones, honest, and stuck her head under the shelf. A mewed curiously. Helloooo?

"G-Green?" Hinata asked.

She sniffed him right back, wiggling further under the shelf to better do so. Hello! Was he friendly? What was he wearing?

"O-Of course not," she said, flushing a bit. "It just, it never occurred to me that kittens could wear sweaters."

"She didn't mind the walk down here at all," Hinata said, smiling. "She didn't like the fact that she couldn't go explore though."

Yei purred back, nuzzling in greeting before trying an experimental lick. Where was his fur?

"Yei would like that." Hinata smiled. "And I'm g-glad that they're getting along well enough."

The mortal enemies comment from before had made her fret about it.

Yei was, for her part, purring delightedly as she checked out the furless kitten. He was very nice, yes, though it was a little worrisome about his coat. She nudged him curiously, and tried licking the sweater.

She turned her head to stare a his paw against her side, still purring as she tried to figure out what he wanted. To play? Yei glanced at him, at the sweater, and perked up. Oh! Oh! She could do that, really. Maybe.

Yei gave a chirpy little meow, of one that's found something interesting, and pawed at his sweater, little claws tugging at the sweater. Like that? Like that?

"Green being the exception," she nodded. "Does h-he rather any other colour in specific?"

It took her a bit more pawing at the sweater, using her little claws to hook at the loops in the yarn, but eventually she managed to pull a few of them out a bit, and stumbled backwards, almost falling.

She did it!

Hinata smiled. "I'm sure you're right." Well, he did have far more experience with cats than she did, after all.

Yei did her best to hold onto the strand, though sometimes she had to scramble to keep her claws in it, because she was excited. Look! Look at the yarn! They had a toy! Wasn't that clever? Wearing a toy?

He was so clever. She purred loudly.

Hinata nodded. She had known that about cats before. "P-Perhaps they make something that tastes like chocolate, but isn't actually? He m-might like that."

And she had yarn to play with! Yarn that was increasingly distracting her from holding the strands, as her attention wavered and her tail lashed, all the while purring like mad. She wanted to play!

"Carob?" Hinata shook her head. "I w-wouldn't know. It was just a s-suggestion."

He was free! She purred and wiggled up against his side before pouncing on the yarn and attacking it. Play! She mewed, a delighted sort of mew, and batted at the yarn. Did he want to play?

"I d-don't think I've seen it before," she said. "Though I wasn't l-looking for it either..."

An end? Who cared about an end? Yei wiggled around in it, pouncing at whatever interesting looking curve she saw next and purring up a storm.

Hinata winced slightly at the idea of what dust bunnies would do to Yei's coat, but had to smile at the image. "T-They're being very quiet," she observed. "Do y-you think they might be planning something?"

Too bad! Yei gleefully pounced on him. He had a string! He wanted to play, right? That meant pouncing. And purring. And licking at the other kitten's head.

"Well," she said thoughtfully. "H-Hopefully nothing too bad?"

They were very good kitties! See, she was purring, he was purring and he was licking her which only made her purr more and there was yarn! Yarn was awesome.

"S-So possibly, it might only be a planned a-attempt for obtaining fish?"
