It was the day before graduation. The day before pomp and circumstance, diplomas, smiling seniors and proud guests. What better way to spend that day then partying the night away? That's right, tonight was the night of the senior lock in! Many NPC workers had been busy in town, cleaning up and setting up an abandoned warehouse for the event.

Now, the front of the warehouse was lit up with neon signs and stanchions that would lead the seniors into a huge building where not one speck of floor space wasn't being used for something fun. There was loud music pumping through the building and strobe lights were swirling around the area, lighting up the room in blues, reds, greens, yellows and various other colors. Decorations of all kinds painted the walls, giving the room a party like atmosphere.

Of course, it would just be a regular ole party, right? Nothing surprising would happen, right? Oh, of course. No surprises. Riiiiiight.

The senior lock in was open and it was time for the seniors to get their party on!

[Posted early for super duper SP! This is for seniors only. OCD is good to go! Have fun! Comments are off so, if you need me, ping the OOC thread or email me!

Knowing he'd be too busy with graduating on Friday and packing on the following Monday, Chad knew this to be his last official day behind the counter at Groovy Tunes, and it was a quiet, peaceful sort of moment as he reflected on it, in between putting together a few things for the other employees as good-bye presents, to be doled out on their respective days. Each had a note, but there was another, more general note taped down to the counter now, thanking them all for being so awesome and stuff, as well as a number to reach him if they need anything, and a promise to check in often. And then he looked up over the sea of CD shelves, the music instruments, the listening booths, thinking about how he'd been with the store longer than he'd even been with Teddy, and reached over to scratch behind Prince Oscar Pedro's ears; the cat purred, lifting himself up to nuzzle against Chad's broad palm.

"Yeah," he said, "I'm gonna miss this place, Neko-kun."

Chad was leaning (carefully) against the counter, deep in thought, and trying to plan things. Just next week, and there'd be graduation, and then he'd be off to New York. He tried to think of what all he should do with the store before he left, but he wasn't really sure. All he was really sure of was that he was going to miss the place an awful lot.

Chad was starting to think that all of this end of the year stuff really shouldn't have waited until the end of the year because, man, there was a lot of stuff to do. Most of it had to do with the store, but some of it was his college stuff, and the rest of it...

...there was an application to something that kept drawing his attention. It was kind of a ridiculous idea, but he definitely had the experience for it.

Now if only he could bring himself up to just doing it...

With a slightly startled realization that the end of the semester and, with it, graduation were looming very closely on the horizon, Chad was spending most of his time behind the counter with a lot of things that looked suspiciously like paperwork. Some of it was stuff for finding a job once he left here for New York; the other stuff was for taking care of the job he was leaving behind. Groovy Tunes would be in need of an assistant manager once Chad was gone. And, really, Chad was going to miss this place. He'd been at this store since before it even was Groovy Tunes, and it made him feel a little old and incredibly nostalgic. A few weeks left. But a lot to do in those weeks.

It was the karaoke contest at the bar again and Marshall made sure everything was extra clean for the influx of people coming in.

And he had leftover pie! Mmm. Today was a good day.

Another great thing about having Orden around was that the little guy could accompany Chad and help out with putting up the posters for the music club's karaoke contest tomorrow. They made sure to spare some time between visiting Teddy and heading into work at Groovy Tunes to throw the signs up everywhere they could think of.

At first, Chad thought it was a great thing, that both he and Teddy worked opposing shifts on Monday, so that Orden could spend the morning with his dad at the comic shop, surrounded by something his dad loved, and then the afternoon at that music store with his papa, surrounded by something his papa loved.

But then Chad made the mistake of letting Orden know that he could pick the music for the day. The boy spent a good deal of time browsing the racks and considering the options, and then brought his first choice to Chad.

Chad looked down at the proffered CD and couldn't contain a slight groan.

It would figure Orden inherited his taste in music from Teddy...

Chad...realized that he might have to have a talk with Hurley. He was pretty sure the guy meant well, and he was actually pretty impressed that he went to work even though he was a zombie.

...but if Prince Oscar Pedro dragged out one more random piece of something's body out from underneath the shelves, Chad did not know what he was going to do.

He doubted they were actually from Hurley, considering everyone was back to normal, and some of them might have been from his own shift Friday, but...details, details.

Chad was not going to let a thing like zombies stop him from going into the store today, but a thing like zombies was going to make him want to protect some people. So he easily cleared out a path for himself, zombies flying left and right under the brutality of his arm and, once he got inside, he put up a sign, letting everyone know that Groovy Tunes was open for those who needed shelter, if they got, somehow, unexpectedly caught up. There was a big young man with a mega-powered arm designed to do extra damage to undead things and a lot of CDs that could probably cleave okay into a brain inside.

Guitar smashing might be interesting in this context, too.

It was never really quiet in Groovy Tunes, with the music constantly being played over the sound system, but, this Monday, it was definitely still. Chad had, at one point, taken care of a few business tasks when he got in but, for the most part, he'd been behind the counter, barely moving, as if frozen in time with a contemplative look on his face. Truth was, he'd only been thinking, really, really hard, as if thinking that hard was so much effort that the rest of him just didn't have much to spare for doing much else.

Thinking, and then some more thinking, but not a lot of conclusions yet.

Occasionally, he snapped out of it, when Prince Oscar Pedro rubbed against his leg for attention or a customer came in, but, for the most part, Chad was mostly just thinky.

Without anything to really clean up today, Chad found himself mostly just reorganizing a few displays here and there to accommodate some of the new music that had come in.

And very notably avoiding opening either of the two letters from colleges that had shown up for him in the mail. He brought them with him in case he ever did get around to seeing if either of the two schools had accepted him, but he was nervous. If they were rejection letters, he didn't know how he'd tell Teddy.

Forget the fact that he signed up for about a dozen different New York area schools and there'd still be a lot more letter coming in any day now...

Turtle Wexler heaved a great sigh. One of these days, she was very sure that Mister Apu would learn that that other cash register was absolutely no good and she wouldn't have to come in and drag out the right one (which was, in effect, very colorful and very plastic and had lots of large buttons and cool sounds). Today was not one of these days, but Turtle had fixed that, dragged out the toy one, set it up (thanks to the help of a chair) on the counter and got ready for a Very Important Day at the store.

There would be no putzing around and being lazy today. There was nothing quite like a harpy invasion to remind one's self that being an assistant manager sometimes meant a lot of work. It wasn't as if Chad minded, though. He actually liked the work. When he wasn't down in the store, trying to take a careful inventory of exactly which CDs had been used as ammo, he was outside, with a big mop and a big bucket and cleaning up the roof, the windows, the side of the building...just about everything, really.

The music in the store was pumped up especially loud so that he could still hear it when he was working outside.

Alice had left Dinah at home today. There seemed to be freakish winged harpies soaring through the air, and that wasn't the proper environment for a genteel kittycat.

She did bring her vorpal blade. She hung a sign on the door:

Your music employee is on the roof, killing harpies. If you require music, please attract her attention and she will be down to assist you momentarily. Please do not take advantage of this situation in order to shoplift; we have video cameras and sharp weapons.

She didn't know if there were surveillance cameras, but it seemed a useful threat.

And so Alice went to the roof, vorpal blade in hand, and tried to look quite innocent, a young girl who would be no match for vicious, cruel harpies.

Although the loud music she was blaring might give away her true intentions.

Yesterday had been pretty quiet for Chad and Chad was thinking that today could be pretty quiet, too. He took care of a few official-type things once he got in, but they never took too long so he was soon back at the counter, leaning (carefully) on it with a few magazines of assorted fashion and music varieties, idly thinking on when the club should get to organizing this semester's karaoke contest, especially since it seemed to have gone really well last time.

If anyone came into the store today and couldn't help thinking that the music seemed incredibly loud, they would probably be right.

But all signs of any hangover had been completely abolished and Chad had a lot of missing music to make up for.

He wondered, albeit briefly, what it said about him that, out of his music mixes, this seemed to be the one with the best selection of music that was best played really, really loudly.

There was something wrong in the state of Denmark.

And in the store of Groovy Tunes as well.

It was a subtle problem, perhaps not at first easily perceptible, but, once realized, the full force of the gravity of the matter could hit a person straight on like a slap to the face or a kick to the shins.

There was no music playing in the store today.

Chad had tried to play some music. He even tried briefly some soft, unobtrusive Muzak. But it was all too loud, too invasive, because a week of drinking non-stop had caught up to Yasutora Sado and made him its bitch. He didn't feel the full effects of it yesterday because he was still slightly buzzed, but today...

...Chad had been crushed under an I-beam and hit by a truck and blown tumbling the length of a football field into a wall by a Shinigami and he still had never felt such a pounding in his head before, ever.

So there was no music.

Shhh, Groovy Tunes is quiet and open.

Once back in Fandom, Chad had only one thing on his mind, so he had Teddy take the luggage back for him while he went to get the cats. He had been all week without them (suddenly, he was wondering if the drunk all week thing had simply been a way to numb the pain of being away from them); not only that, but he had a whole week of abandonment to make up for. After playing with both Galliano and Prince Oscar Pedro for a good long time and buying almost more cat toys than could fit into a bag, he had another idea for penance.

He gave Teddy a call to come join him at Sushi Station when they had the chance but, under the odd looks of some of the employees, Chad and the cats settled at a table, contemplating on what kind of sushi to get.

Leaning (carefully) on the counter and still nursing his black eye with an ice pack, Chad wasn't expecting to get much work done today. He was all sad thinking about how the black eye had even happened (when you've got a super-powered boyfriend, frustration and accidents were dangerous) and trying not to think about, if it weren't for the fact that it was born from a sexually-frustrated accident, he would have just been able to heal it up.

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

Thinking yourself as a country trying to invade everyone and being mean to little girls was still, thankfully, not the weirdest thing that Fandom had ever thrown at Chad. The island would have to get pretty creative to beat that one time it turned him into tea for a weekend.

But still, as he came in to the shop for work today, he was thinking that if he never saw a bratwurst, sauerkraut, or green leiderhosen again, he would be just absolutely fine with that.

Tomoyo wanted tea. She had woken up in a strange room, in a strange building, without her bodyguards. And Sakura seemed to be nowhere to be found.

Not to mention this was clearly not Japan.

But Tomoyo was a proper girl, and she did what a lady ought to do when confronted with such a situation. 1) Call her mother. Who, as usual, was busy.

Option two: tea.

Which left a small, ten-year-old girl, calmly sipping her tea and watching the other patrons of the establishment and thinking up new ideas for Sakura's costumes. She might as well make the best of the opportunity.

Sometimes, when you'd been on this island for as long as Chad had, or, really, even before that, when weird stuff was just bound to happen, you could feel it. Kind of. Chad was also thinking the feeling of strangeness surrounding him at the store could have very well have meant he shouldn't have put that Burn a Hole in your Soul hot sauce on the omelette he had before coming in for work.

He kept looking toward Prince Oscar Pedro to see if he felt it, too, but the cat was far more interested in dust motes in the air, which reminded him that he should dust, so he went to go do that, especially since he was the only one of the employees that could really get the high spits.

Today's mix was a blend of a lot of German techno-pop. Chad couldn't explain why he wanted to listen to it, but maybe it was causing the weird feeling he was getting.

Sure, there was some work to be done when Chad got to the store on Friday. But none of that seemed to be as important to him as figuring out exactly what was wrong with the sound system. It seemed that no matter what mix, what CD, what anything he put into it, it would play just fine for a little bit, stop, broadcast this really weird Doink doink sound and then play really dramatic music, like the kind of stuff people either made a scene to or made really dramatic interrogations or court room revelations to.

So weird. Chad almost hoped he'd get some customers today just so he could take a break from trying to fix the damn thing.

Chad was still occasionally finding pieces of broken CDs from when Nana was here on Friday scattered this way and that, although well hidden under shelves or drum kits. Really, it was Prince Oscar Pedro who found most of the remaining ones, stalking around the store, his body low and lean as it crouched close to the floor, hunting them down and then proceeding to chase and play with them all over the place. He'd lose it underneath the counter or a listening chair, and the hunt would begin again.

Chad was used to sometimes having a cat that was too big skittering across the floor of the store and into the CD shelves. Galliano, however, was not usually big enough to cause any damage.

Now a dog, on the other hand, that was too big and skittering...

There was another crash, and Chad winced, wondering if he should have thought this through better before agreeing to dogsit for Jeff again. Nana had caused another shelf to come down, but she settled beside Chad, drooling on his knee, as he went about picking it up, and sorting out the unfortunate ones that were damaged in the process and had to go in the Discount Bin.
