"If I dispose of it here, it'll be going down a sink drain," Jono said, looking maybe a touch sad about that. "Otherwise I'll be in no shape for an outing to Cafe Luke's by any stretch of the imagination, will I?"

Though it would probably be somewhat hilarious. Until it found some inevitable way to be thoroughly disastrous.

"Don't you?" He looked vaguely amused about that, yes. "I suppose if nothing else, even if I did have to wear my teacher hat, I certainly wouldn't have any authority over what you drink while you're out on the town."

Besides, there was still Caritas. Always.

... He'd probably feel a bit weird about having her over to drink at the Boards at least until she graduated, though. Bloody murky time-muddled grey areas.

"I'd be appalled at me, too, for what it's worth," Jonothon sighed, sounding very put-out indeed. "Really, I think I'd be far more likely to store it in another room until after the dance. And then I'd dispose of it. Properly."

"Depending on what the students have put into it, of course."

"It would be blasphemy to mix lager with fruit punch," Jono sniffed, because really, Karla. Really. "But that doesn't mean one of the students hasn't managed to get their hands on the cheapest boot polish they can find and think that's somehow an appropriate substitute for decent liquor."

Really, he cared about the state of the punch for all of the right reasons.

"Generally? The cheapest boot polish I could get my hands on," Jono replied, with a wry smile as he thought back on his London days.

A lifetime ago, it seemed like.

"I usually took the time to pick out the potato peels, though."

"I appreciate you putting forth the effort." Yes, yes he was laughing, now. Just quietly. "I don't know if I'll be able to allow you extra credit marks for that, but I might set aside some extra scratch-and-sniff stickers to put on your next report card."

"If the best I can manage is one of those activity books with the connect-the-dots in them that are secretly educational, will you be able to find it in your heart to forgive me?"

It would be difficult, he knew. But maybe. Somehow.

"The very best that Crayola has to offer?" Jono pursed his lips for a moment, and then broke into a little grin. "It's a deal, then."

... He'd actually do this, now. Mostly because he was fairly certain that if he didn't, she'd give him a difficult time about it later.

"A full box of them," Jonothon agreed, smiling faintly and clapping her lightly on the shoulder. "Enjoy the dance, luv. Try not to work too hard babysitting the punch bowl."
