Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

It would appear, to anyone who came to the community center tonight, that whoever had been responsible for decorating for the reunion mixer actually had some taste. The decorations were simple - white linen on the tables with gold and blue flowers as a centerpiece, and a notable lack of streamers - but there was, of course, gold and blue glitter scattered just about everywhere. This was a Fandom event after all.

It was a Fandom tradition that went back... well, at the very least several years: graduation brunch, offering visitors and locals alike the best food available on the island.

There was a banner that stretched from tree to tree declaring CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2013 in big glittery letters. There were tables full of moddable food and drink. There were happy decorations in blue and yellow and a long series of picnic tables for people to sit at and mingle.

And then there was the bit at the end where Mayor Swanson was barbecuing an entire pig's worth of food. Uh... Yeah.

It might have been winter but that didn't matter to a tank sized hellhound who loved the beach and the water. She didn't even mind the chill in the air that seemed to just be sharper when you were closer to the ocean. She was frolicking (could hellhounds frolic?) in and out of the waves, trying to catch them.

Percy, who was sitting on the sand, was even helping out by using his powers to make the waves bigger so they'd tower over her head and crash down on her, causing her to jump around excitedly. Percy wasn't made of stone. It made him smile. She deserved some time out of the stables and enjoying the open area that he couldn't always give her. And Percy just liked being near the water even if he wasn't swimming today.

Eric would have hosted the New Year's Eve party at the Devil's Nest, but he suspected that the students wouldn't appreciate his "no, no alcohol for you" stance and here in a different venue, he could avoid some of the liability. (Eric hadn't lived a thousand years by being a very stupid vampire.)

The ballroom was decked out far more classily than it had for school dances in shades of cream, silver, and black: there were sumptuous fabrics draped to soften the room , gilt mirrors to add light, and sparkling crystal because Eric liked expensive crystal. For those who ate, there was top shelf alcohol, more than enough champagne and all kinds of fancy appetizers (and pigs in blankets because shut up). For those who didn't eat, well, the bartenders wouldn't be suprised for requests of O Positive.

The DJ was playing the top 40 hits of the year, but could be persuaded to play anything that wasn't Justin Bieber (Eric had glamoured the hell out of him had a Talk with him, and now as far as the DJ knew, Justin Bieber didn't exist).

Happy New Year's Eve, Fandom. Put on your tuxedo and come party with a vampire.

There was no April at Caritas today. She hadn't even called to tell Tino why. Just no April at all.

Which meant that poor Tino, who might or might not be the amnesiac long-lost twin of the heir to the throne of some country that was pronounced differently every time, was stuck tending bar. Poor guy. He just couldn't figure out what was up with that weird fancy-looking ring on his hand.

Strange.

The sky was cloudy but the weather was just the right side of warm as the sun rose on the traditional Parent's Weekend Brunch. There were tables, chairs, and a buffet laid out with all manner of breakfast (and not-so-breakfasty) foods.

It'd been awhile since Percy and Mrs. O'Leary had been down to the beach. Percy made sure to apologize for that when he went to get his gigantic hellhound but Mrs. O'Leary seemed to instantly forgive him when they got to the beach. She started bounding around in the sand, chasing the huge bone that Percy was throwing until she got distracted and ran into the water.

She eventually started digging a hole to bury the bone (or him, Percy thought) so Percy sat on some sand nearby and let her enjoy the activity while he enjoyed the beach. The setting sun was really beautiful.

It was easy for Luke to get around town unnoticed, even in broad daylight. He put all the sneaking and thieving traits of a Hermes child to good use here. Despite this, he still tangled with people loyal to Umbridge when he felt like it or on the occasion where he exhausted himself so much that his powers weakened. Or if he was trying to knock some sense into his cursed ex-boyfriend.

Today he was out looking for food, something he had experience in even before getting trapped in Fandom. His worn backpack was already filled with stuff to eat but he was still out, hoping to find something special to bring back to Kate. She could always use some cheering up.

Notices had gone out to all and sundry, inviting both those who still lived on the island as well as those who'd moved away to come back for a dance at the Fandom Town community center, in celebration of the 43rd (give or take a day) anniversary of the original moon landing, as well as the wonderful summer they were having.

Once people arrived, they'd find the community center's auditorium decorated according to the theme of the evening. Silver streamers hung all around, and a few papier mache moons had been fixed to the ceiling. The lights were dimmed, and there were flowers – most white, but some of them colored silver – on all the tables, bringing the faint scent of summer with them.

And naturally, there were big tables full of food, like at any large Fandom gathering. There was also a bar, though those underage would have to content themselves with sodas and virgin drinks. Maybe they could get over their sorrow over that on the dance floor, showing off their best Moonwalk.

Everything was ready for the people of Fandom to have a good time.

Portals elsewhere might break, send you to the wrong planet, or leave you hanging; this one was forever faithful to its own schedule.

Sadly, for those denizens of the island who might have grown attached to their children, that meant it was time to say goodbye. The portal popped up blazing purple in the center of the park, calling to those it had taken here just a few days ago.

Percy didn't know what he was hoping to accomplish with this. He'd gotten it in his mind to invite Anna long to the beach with him to see why she was so angry about him and Luke (he thought the alternate universes would make that okay) and maybe just to talk to her without Aritaseus around, being bitter and tiny. That kid....

Percy just didn't know what they were gonna do with that kid.

He'd brought Mrs. O'Leary along and she was currently bounding along the beach, playing fetch with a big bone Percy had found. She'd taken quickly to Anna and had slobbered happily over the girl when Percy had gotten her out of the stables.

"She still around in your future?" Percy asked curiously.

There was no bouncer at the entrance to the Community Center, all the better for any underclassmen to sneak into the night's festivities and pray that their own official final dance in Fandom would be half so...red. To be technical, the shade was rust.

Thankfully to the more practical among the StuCo Prom Committee, the Mars theme lended itself to plenty of starry twinkle lights and a decadant foggy mist rising from the dance floor that might just help the chaperones in their quest to look the other way when students got too handsy. That was really all that mattered at an event like this. Well, other than the food on hand and the ability for the punch to merge well with whatever spirits were 'accidentally' dropped into over the course of the evening.

For this was a night to be remembered! Even if all that stuck in the memories of the students was the terrifying spacemen floating around the giant papier mache Mars that dangled in place of a disco ball over the dance floor. Or perhaps it would be the fantastic flavor of the fiery fountain of cherry pie filling. Fake fire, of course, but the filling? Totally real and delicious. Even if it looked a little too much like fiery blood for some people.

As they entered, tonight's guests were offered their choice of crown or tiara. Over by the photographer who doesn't have a thread because that's what happens when you post at 6:30 in the morning, there was a pair of thrones set up to really complete the theme.

During the afternoon, workers had built up a large firepit in the center of the park. Smaller ones were built a short distance away from it, just to make sure nobody froze during the festivities.

There was ice on the pond, thick ice, and someone had set up a small booth alongside it renting out skates for the night. Closer to the bonfire, there was a buffet, partly already cooked (and with cocoa, too!), partly set up with raw meat, fish, marshmallows and vegetables for the more enterprising crowd who might want to roast something over one of the fires.

Lights hung in the trees, and the fires blared merrily. Fandom was ready for the changing of the years, and all were welcome.

The day had dawned crisp and clear, but by the time afternoon had rolled around... it was really still kind of ridiculously warm for fall. People could probably get away with not wearing a sweater, even.

Which made rather good weather for a picnic, convenient since that was the traditional way of kicking off the Fandom High Parents' (and assorted other relatives, friends, acquaintances, or sometimes even enemies, but that was harder to fit nicely on a banner) Weekend. So there were rows of picnic tables decked out in blue and yellow, laid out with just about any sort of foodstuff one could imagine. And just in case there was any lingering doubt as to the purpose of the picnic, a glittery banner (Petra's work, naturally) adorned the registration tables:

There had been some weird stuff going down in the dorms so Percy decided it was time to get out of there for a little while. He'd gone down to the stables and collected Mrs. O'Leary and was now watching her rumble her way down the beach. Occasionally, she'd stomp her way into the water and splash around but she spent most of her time chasing seagulls and chasing the huge tree branch that Percy was throwing every so often.

The hellhound was currently at the other end of the beach, trying to dig some huge hole in the beach that Percy was gonna have to cover up before he left. He didn't need anyone falling into a damn sinkhole if they came down here. With Mrs. O'Leary busy for the moment, Percy was wading ankle deep in the ocean, kicking up water and having a few conversations with any fish, jellyfish, or other ocean creatures that swam close enough. It wasn't anything important but hey, he hadn't done this in a little while and maybe he'd missed the fish.

Shut up. He was the son of Poseidon and that's what sons of Poseidon did. Besides, he figured he might need the help of the creatures in the ocean some day and he didn't want to be hated.

Once again, shut up.

Yesterday, high-powered District Attorney Alex Cabot had fallen to her death in an open elevator shaft.

This had caused problems for Zayne Carrick, in that he was going to be in deep trouble when the information got out. Something about not inspecting the elevator, or not having the building codes cleared, or some other insurance scam difficulty.

Alex wasn't really clear on it. Alex wasn't clear on anything, what with being dead and all.

What was important was that Alex be found dead somewhere that wasn't Zayne Carrick's elevator shaft, and from a cause that wasn't falling into MCA's elevator shaft.

Which was why Alex Cabot was propped up here, in the Perk, with sunglasses and a big floppy hat covering her face.

Either people would talk "to" her and assume she was alive -- thus proving she didn't die at MCA!!!!! -- or someone would find her body, and her place of death would be The Perk. Not MCA.

A very clever plan.

(oh fuck this is the worst, most tasteless thing I've ever posted, but Alex is here for all of your Weekend at Bernie's style misunderstandings-and-fake-conversations-with-a-corpse needs. Because she's dead. Zayne modded with permission, which means Nick and I are both going straight to hell.)

Ramona didn't do it often, but girl knew how to throw a party. Granted, at the age of seventeen, she hadn't been to a ton of college parties, but she'd been to enough to emulate them effectively.

She'd gotten to the beach early enough to set up a couple beer pong tables, along with one for flip cup. There were several kegs of (really, really cheap -- might as well go for the full college draw here) beer, and nearby those, she'd placed an assortment of liquors and mixers. There was no bartender or anything for this party -- not only to fit with the theme, but also because Ramona was cheap and practical. See also the traditional red party cups she'd gotten for their drinks!

There were, however, tiki torches and a bonfire, and she'd sprung for festive little umbrellas to go in the drinks. Ramona hadn't really wanted to go totally tropical for this thing, but she'd dressed relatively beachy for her -- she was wearing a sundress, at least, over her swimsuit, and she had a little white flower in her blue hair.

She was determined to make sure Kate didn't miss any of that vital college experience. Because clearly, this was the important stuff.

Huge metallic spiders hadn't been on Percy's mind when he'd wandered down to the beach that night. Really, he'd just wanted to be near the water and the showers on the campground just weren't cutting it.

What had started out as Percy just sitting there at the water's edge, letting the waves lap up around him and turned into something else when he'd spotted a group of spiders off to his side. It took Percy (slow dimwit that he was) a minute or so to realize that they were not what spiders were supposed to look like. By then, they were pretty much on top of him. Two had attached themselves to his legs and one was big enough to be nearly at eye level. Percy hated being short sometimes.

Percy yanked Riptide out of his pocket and swatted the two off his legs amazingly without slicing his own legs off. The big one came at him and Percy stepped back towards the ocean. Instantly, he could feel his own strength increasing and he brought Riptide down viciously against the spider's head. It made some sort of sound but didn't die. Percy edged back into the water, waves lapping at his knees and conjured up a big wave. He let it splash down on top of both himself and the spider, hoping the water would short out its circuits or something.

And if that didn't work, Percy suspected that jamming Riptide into its head and keeping it there might. The spider convulsed a few times, sparks flying before it flopped down into the water and stilled. Percy tugged Riptide out of the spider's head and started back towards shore.

It was unfortunate that he'd forgotten how long the spider's legs were because his foot caught against that metal limb and sent Percy falling face first into the water. All that badass fighting only to end like this.

Of course. Percy pushed himself up and scowled. He was not a badass at all.

As announced by the posters that had appeared around the dorms earlier in the week, there was a party on the beach this warm Friday evening. Or at least, there would be, once people arrived.

The setting was party-like enough, at least. Along with a lovingly modded Bod who'd been drafted in to carry stuff around, Kate had somehow managed to recruit Jeremy to her cause as well, and he'd graciously (because he was still feeling guilty over his doppelganger having made Bod feel bad) offered his financial help for the party. As a result, they had a couple of tables filled with an array of snacks and drinks (regular, Viking, and Egyptian), and the darkening evening was being lightened up by strings of colorful paper lanterns stretched between a few poles they'd brought to the beach for this specific purpose. There was no bonfire as of yet, but Kate wouldn't mind one if someone else wanted to make one their responsibility. She was intending to get a little too tipsy for that.

It was a party, that was what you did.

Although the weekend was almost over, the esteemed alumni of Fandom High were not getting away without one last get-together. The park had been deemed too cold for the event, so the community center had been set up again with tasteful blue and yellow streamers and real flowers on the tables, although there might have been a few paper flowers still lying around from last night too.

There was plenty of food just waiting to be eaten, and if someone asked nicely, they might be able to acquire a drink or two as well. It was five o'clock somewhere.

If anyone could recall the dance from the night before, they would have thought that it was decorated tastefully compared to what was going on tonight. There were streamers, balloons and what appeared to be paper flower ornaments everywhere. All done in yellow and blue for the proud graduates of Fandom High, of course.

And there were the 'classic' songs from twenty years ago blaring loudly for people to dance or cringe to. Who knew Ke$ha and Justin Bieber would get to be classic pop music for future generations?

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Alex had woken up to some rambling text message from Dean Stinson about seizing the day and taking advantage of the warm weather to set up something for everyone down on the beach. When he'd become the dean's lackey, he didn't know but he actually got to it. It wasn't his money he was spending, after all. The first thing he'd done was plaster signs announcing the luau all over the dorms and town to let people know it was happening.

So, after a few quick hours of setup, the beach was now looking like a real luau was taking place. Tiki torches led the way to the beach, doing their best to provide lighting when the sun fell and to keep bugs away. Several tiki bars were laid out across an area of the beach, serving up drinks (yes, there was alcohol since adults were invited) and even conversation to those that might want it.

Palm trees with string lights had also been set up to make the luau more authentic. And, of course, there were several tables containing all sorts of moddable food for the partygoers to enjoy.

The weather was amazing and the luau was on!

Percy knew it had been too long since he'd taken Mrs. O'Leary out for a few hours of playtime so he tried to make up for that by bringing her a new bone and taking her down to the beach with him today. A hellhound wasn't generally that fond of water but Mrs. O'Leary wasn't your average hellhound.

Besides, she just wanted to run around and dig holes into the sand and chase waves. Percy was content to let her and sat in the sand a few feet away, jacket tight around him and hood up because of the chill in the air. Occasionally, Mrs. O'Leary ran over to both slobber and jump at him before getting distracted and going back to chase something else.

Percy laughed and shook his head. She was having fun and that was good enough for him.

Despite being on the island for awhile now, Percy hadn't ever been down to Caritas. Of course, the day he decided to solve that was the day that, apparently, the regular bartender decided not to show up.

Percy took a spot on one of the stools, nursing a water and thinking while the other bartender stared at him. And stared. And kept staring. Maybe that's what Luke felt like when Percy got into one of his staring modes.

Eventually, Percy called the guy on the staring and Tino, being Tino, tossed a dish rag at him and gestured him behind the bar. Tino was a man of few words and Percy, being Percy, argued a some before just giving up and coming back behind the bar.

It wasn't like he had anything better to do and he'd never done this. The zombies didn't even phase him. Tino, however, was a little creepy.

GOB had somehow been able to count to nine despite not being around for the previous six Three Minute Dates, but he still didn't know what 'annual' really meant. But that wasn't important. The important thing was that at 6:00 precisely, the ligts went out and the Zombie Band started playing a familiar intro.

Except for a single four of clubs. GOB started moonwalking backwards, except he wasn't very good at it so it was more like walking backward with a limp. He clapped his hands together and from the cards fell burst forth a dead live dove, which GOB picked up and threw off the stage toward the bar swooped over the audience and hit Tino after bouncing off the bar attacked Tino.

"WELCOME TO CARITAS!" GOB yelled to the crowd as the music continued. "WELCOME! TO THREE MINUTE DATES!" He turned around and pointed to the back of the stage where a too-large banner dropped, showing the top half of 'THREE MINUTE DATES' while the rest was still rolled up on the stage floor. "I am GOB, your Once and Future Matchmaker. Here are the rules: I call your name and the name of somebody else. You two get together and make goo goo eyes at each other for a few minutes, and then I make a fireball appear to let you know it's time for the next round."

Tino had checked the fireball launcher GOB kept in his sleeve. Twice. It was as safe as it could possibly be.

"After the roaring sound of magical fire, I'll call out some more names and we do it again until we've done it five times. And if you don't like any of your dates, let me know and we can do it five more times in my hotel room." GOB could be as subtle as a bar on fire, something which Tino really wanted to avoid. Now let's get on with this stuff." As GOB started to reach for his notecards with the round one pairings, a quick burst of flame shot across his chest. "Huh. Shot off a little early. But I won't, ladies." Very subtle.

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

Epic OCD is beginning. For the love of god, please wait until I'm done. GO FORTH AND PLAY! If I made a blatant mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice or accidentally making incest happen WHICH TOTALLY DID NOT NEARLY HAPPEN, AHEM, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. Remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish a thread or two on Sunday, that's fine.

And, um, yes, this is Post 1 of 2. RECORD SETTING SIGN UPS CAUSED THIS!]

Hard to believe only nine minutes had passed since this all started, huh? The daters were still dating, hopefully no one had been transported outside due to trying to attack anyone they had to deal with for three minutes, and all they had to do was survive two more rounds before they could hit the bar.

Happy dating!

Right, so, flying piranhas were weird. Flying piranhas that didn't quite know how to die the first time? Weirder. But it wasn't anything Luke couldn't handle.

Naturally Luke had to be outside fighting at the first sign of danger (careful this time not to fall into any portals) because that was just the type of idiot he was. He had managed to find a sizable pack of piranhas in the park and fought them off with his sword...and then fought them off again when they came back to life. He enjoyed the danger, small as it was, having sort of missed monsters trying to kill him all the time.

Yeah, he was weird.

After that was taken care of Luke decided to perch himself on top of one of the park benches, surveying the remains of the piranhas he had taken care of and deciding that he was going to need a long shower later. It turned out zombie fish smelled worse than regular fish.

[Ooooooopen. For the life of me I cannot spell piranha right the first time]

He'd made it through a week of classes. It was sad that Percy was half amazed at that. The only other place he'd manage to stick around longer than a day was Camp Half Blood and that didn't really count.

Percy wasn't going to celebrate or anything stupid like that but he had gotten Mrs. O'Leary out of the stables and was now watching her run up and down the beach, digging her feet into the sand and occasionally crashing into the water when she caught sight of a bird. She never actually caught sight of the bird but she did manage to get soaking wet which in turn got Percy soaking wet.

Or, well, it would have gotten Percy soaking wet if water affected him that way. Since it didn't, he stayed dry. That was such a handy talent to possess. The local sea animals were in his head again, talking excitedly about the son of Poseidon being so close, asking for his help and just generally treating him with reverance.

That was still...so weird. Percy tried to talk back, to assure them he'd do what he could but things were different and he couldn't make scenes. Instead, he started making waves just for something to do. He'd make them bigger and bigger until they were too big and he sent them crashing down.

Mrs. O'Leary yelped happily and ran into the surf. Percy felt almost relaxed.

[Open, sure sure. Remember, if you're mortal, you're only going to see Mrs. O'Leary as a standard poodle. If you're not all the way mortal, you can see the hellhound. And there's no outward sign that Percy's making the waves either!]

Mooby burgers were so not the same. Nico had decided to give the fast food joint a chance since there was no McDonald's presence on the island (insane as that sounded) but he was regretting it after two chews of 'udderly delicious' burger. Rather than waste the food, he wandered down to sit on a bench in the park, thinking some weird Fandom bird or fish might be willing to eat what he didn't want.

The choking sounds the flamingo made as it scurried off after gnawing at a piece of bread had Nico guessing this was a bad plan. At least the bovine-sized fries were sufferable. Still not good enough if he was planning to raise the dead, but for a late night snack, Nico would deal.
