First Responder's Memorial Day Barbecue - Fire Station and Selkie Lake, Monday
The firehouse was all ready for guests, cleaned as much as humanly possible and organized within an inch of its life. Which meant it was time for people to come in and mess all that up.
But, you know. Lovingly.
And just across the way at Selkie Lake, the food and the general mingling place was all set up for people. Because it was time for the First Responder's Memorial Day Barbecue!

Arrive/Mingle
Look, Bucky ordered them and now you get to deal with that.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Even if their son was, you know, traitorously rooting for the babysitters. (Maggie appeared to mostly be rooting for bees, and also taking an early stance on dresses with pockets.)
In any case, Annie had found herself a spot to spread out a blanket on the grass and sit with the babies and a beer for herself, alternating between soothing Maggie (who was still not sure about grass) and fixing Ben's shirt.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Look, with their dad out being involved in important shirtless tug-of-wars later, maybe Annie could use an extra pair of bestie hands, you never knew! Sure, Summer was banking on Annie being a capable expert at this point, but, you know, she was still going to offer!

Did she have a class she should actually be teaching right now? Probably! Maybe! It was a holiday, right? Look, she wasn't from around here, she didn't know how it worked, but she was pretty sure anyone showing up to class today instead of going to a free barbecue was just a big nerd, anyway, and, quite frankly, not someone she was interested in associating with, much less teaching.

Re: Arrive/Mingle
Because she was going to be doing her best to keep her kid from going for the squirt guns and water balloons that she clearly fully intended on abusing.
This would of course end in Kitty finally giving up and going home with awkward water spots on her clothes if she didn't phase at the right time but that was a problem for later.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
With sunglasses on and a beer in his hand, Dean was ready to simply enjoy the day.
And watch that raccoon in the middle of the lake with goggles on.

"Do you see a good spot to settle in?" he asked Steven, who was

Important questions. She was less concerned about, like, the vest or whatever.

Which was nothing personal, she barely knew any of them (and definitely preferred to keep it that way). It was just....a thing, alright? Sometimes, we were all bound by laws greater than ourselves.

Okay, he might be asleep somewhere inconvenient where people might need to step over him, with his plastic firefighter hat askew but somehow still on his head, but he was here. And maybe you could catch him while he was awake?

Re: Arrive/Mingle
For now he was just going to look around for friendly faces.

Re: Arrive/Mingle
But who would turn down free food and attractive men? So of course Jane was there.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Hello, Jane!"
Could the first responders bring in ringers from the audience for tug-of-war?

Yeah, real tough choice Summer had to make there. Either way, she was here a bit later, and was clearly looking to make up for the delay.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
What, you thought he wouldn't come over as soon as he saw her?
"I'm glad you made it. Store wasn't too busy? The clinic was quiet enough."
The clinic was always quiet.

He wasn't exactly living off of drug sale money any more, and free food was free food, and so, while he was trying to stick to the parameters of the event like a skittering creature ready to flee at the first sign of trouble, he was occasionally dancing (literally dancing, by the way, he was not just being cute with descriptors) up to the food tables and then dancing away to enjoy it then and there or spirit it away to go for later on in the week.

Re: Arrive/Mingle
He and the guys should definitely plan a fishing trip this week, actually...
