"Is this something I should know about?" Seivarden asked when she showed up.

She didn't know about Earth sports and didn't care.

"I mean," said Summer, "if you have to ask, then, obviously, the answer is yeah."

Was Summer going to go ahead and set out the jello shots for Seivarden in a very particular pattern, anyway? Of course she was. She could always just choose not to drink them.

"But it's the Olympics," she offered by way of explanation. "Happens every few years, it's this big global thing where every country brings together their brightest and best to compete on a world stage in a variety of different sports. Kind of a big deal if you're into that sort of thing, and even if you're not, it's kind of hard not to get sort of swept up in the excitement of it, you know?"

Summer was pretty sure Seivarden would find it actually not hard at all to not get swept up in the excitement of it.

Or most things, really.

It was Earth sports. Why would she care?

Just show her some fit athletes without gloves.

She picked up the first jello shot, starting with the blue one.

"And it even makes a good jello shot theme. How are you, Summer?"

"Anything can make a good jello shot theme if you're me," Summer pointed out, with a cocky grin and a proud lift of her chin, and just go ahead and try her on that, she dared you. "And I'm good. Thanks. How are you?"

That seemed the bigger question, really, since she felt the last time they talked, it had been not great, even if Seivarden would probably never admit to the fact that it had been not great.

"Oh, God, I have to teach in the morning," Annie groaned, looking at the specials board as she set her little overnight bag down next to her barstool. "Like, I shouldn't, but I've also spent all week doing reshoots and station bumpers and -- you know what, Summer? Let's start with the red one."

She would not be going for the gold, but goddammit if she didn't deserve a jello shot or two, at least.

Lo and behold, there was a red one set before Annie, with the promise of perhaps a few more to follow.

"And that," said Summer, "is why we have movie days."

Becoming a teacher herself had put so many movie days throughout her past education in a whole new perspective, really.

"So, it's been back to work, huh? The glamourous life of our hot-shot superceleb."

Annie rolled her eyes, waving a hand at her. "Turns out that when one of the stars of your movie is an evil Nazi, reshoots become a thing. Endless, endless reshoots. And they're making me do a music video this weekend. It's sooooo glamorous."

If by 'glamorous' one meant 'tedious and involving a lot of other people touching me,' anyway.

"How are you? How are things here? Everyone getting used to being aboveground again?" she checked.

"Maaaaaaaaybeeeeee," drawled Summer, with the beaming sort of grin one would expect when someone was not even a little trying to hide the truth. She basked a little bit in the completeness of her particular level of extra before the grin went a little softer. "You know I'm a sucker for an easy theme, though.

"You wanna try one?" Summer asked, because that was inevitable.

"Or go for the gold?" That was inevitable, too, although she wasn't really expecting that one to be a yes.

"I do not have the tolerance to do that," Rey said wryly. "Which one's your favorite?"

"You really know how to do a tie-in marketing event," Jesse said, amused. "Do they also... taste like those colors? Like the squishy machine does 'Red'?"

"I don't think anything actually tastes like a Red Squishy," Summer decided. "It's, like, its own weird unexplanable phenomenon. But I definitely did try to encapsulate the essence of each of the colors into the shots, but you know..."

She flashed Jesse a grin. The sort of grin that made it clear that Jesse should have expected this, if she hadn't already anticipated it.

"There's only one way to know for suu~ure~~"

Yes, with a lilting little sing-song goading in that last word especially.

Yeah, Jesse let out the sigh of the should-have-seen-that-coming. "Do you have any virgin versions?" she tried.

It had been weeks since Stark had been able to walk into Caritas on a Wednesday and have things be as they should be.

"I've missed this," he said as he approached the bar. "It's been far too long. Blue to start?"

Summer had a warm, appreciative smile for the sentiment as she carefully laid out the five shots in the proper pattern for Stark to pick from as he liked.

"It really has," Summer agreed, "which is dumb, but at least we've got a little bit of normalcy for now. For the time being. How are you, Stark?"

"This week has been very normal," Stark agreed. "So far. For here. A nice change. I probably shouldn't have even said that out loud. But I'm doing well, I think. Better than I was last week, or the weeks before." That was a fairly low bar to clear, but improvement was still a positive thing and he picked up his first shot to offer something of a toast to that sentiment.

"Hey, Summer." Miguel smiled and waved as he sat. "Nice theme. How have you been?"

Shenanigans had been terrible... not just for the insane events, that was getting to be an anticipated norm. And it wasn't even the tacky shirts.... but the other wardrobe choices for some of the events had left a LOT to be desired.

As soon as the event ended, Dwight had changed back into his regular clothes and left...and now he found himself at Caritas with a need to get drunk...

"I'll start with a red" he half groaned to Summer.

(It was better than being stuck in a hole for three weeks but..... Short Shorts???? REALLY Anakin?????)

"I think I recognize that tone," said Summer, passing over a grin to Dwight as she not only set out a red, but the full set, because you kind of had to, and only time would tell if the whole thing would be eventually consumed. "At least it's over now, right? How you holding up, Dwight?"

And in case anyone was wondering, she absolutely did ask the second part purely for the rhyme.

"Thank god it's over!" Dwight agreed as he downed the jello shot. "And doing ok, all things considered... and you?"

Yang hadn't exactly been much of a partier, lately. For, well, reasons.

But even more depressing that going out to a bar alone would be staying inside on her own, especially today.

"Happy birthday to me!" she announced, striding into Caritas. "Yo, you guys got any kind of birthday girl special?"

"Maybe if the birthday girl had mentioned something about her birthday," said Summer, who was a serial birthday jello shot coordinater somewhat twitching at a missed opportunity here, "I could have done something a little more exciting than the Olympics for a theme, but, as it is, sure. Full flight of the shot on me, or a drink of your choice, and maybe I'll even throw in a jello metal as a gift."

Yeah, it never took much to convince Summer to ply people with alcohol on any principle.

"Oh," she added, "and happy birthday."

"Maybe I didn't want to take away from the glory of the Olympics, and whatever jello shot art you were gonna make," Yang joked, grabbing a seat. "I'll do your shot flight, that sounds cool."

"You know, I actually really liked watching these games when I was a student here? I thought it was so cool that this world had these peak physical fitness celebrations, celebrating the best of the best every few years. Like, these people don't deal with alternate universes, or superpowers, or aliens, or whatever. They're just... the best because they worked at it and decided that's what they wanted to do. I think that's awesome."
