Unless you happened to be walking past the diner at the right times today, to all appearances it was being manned by the latest issue of Tidings magazine and the fingertips that held it up. If you didn't happen by at the right time, you would have to walk into the diner and behind the counter to find Lacey on the other side of said magazine, staring with sad, plaintive eyes at a rave review of a new upscale restaurant in Toronto and heaving the occasional woeful sigh.

It was the kind of quasi-private woe that explained the general listlessness of the specials board today.

"For anybody who wasn't here when this went down--" Xander, clad in a certain white and blue hardhat that might be familiar to some, jerked his thumb towards the partially-demolished building, speaking loudly over the noise of a drainage pump that was patiently sucking the mucky, muddy water out of what used to be a pretty kickass swimming pool. "That's what happens when you don't have clearly posted safety signage during an invasion."

Oh look, he brought an extra No Rampaging sign. And a post-hole digger.

"It's also what happens when you do have clearly-posted signage," he admitted. "But at least this way you've got a better case if you try to sue the monsters for damages. And this--" He waved his arms at the construction site in general. "--is what happens when we finally run out of room at the MCA and have to get off our butts and build a second apartment building. First law of re-building, though - before you get to the fun stuff, you have to clear away the crap. ...Second law is don't juggle the power tools."

Ah, safety lectures. Just like riding a bicycle. Through a construction site. Without proper headgear. Which you shouldn't do.

[Open like the muddy concrete pit that used to be Logan Echolls' swimming pool! Grad project, but he wouldn't turn down help from anyone inclined to give it.]

Of course, Charlotte had probably rewritten and revised her syllabus about fifty times already, but, that morning, since the gallery wasn't open on Mondays and she didn't really have much else to do, she was rewriting and revising it yet again. Only this time she had the assistance of a skinny soy latte and that certain nice ambiance that the coffee shop offered. So it was all rather quite productive, since she found that, at home, she had a tendency to get distracted by wanting to give the place a little extra cleaning or completely redo one of her rooms.

Here, if she got any of those urges (which she, of course, inevitably, did), she couldn't exactly do much about it except continue typing away.

It worked out rather nicely, in the long run.

There were newbies on the island, and they were still in Antarctica. Seriously, how could life get any better? ...Well, it could if his new little brother was a ROBOT!!!

Sokka tidied up the store a bit, whistling. Today was a good day. He even got Liz to bark along in tune.

He'd also left up Turtle's sign from the other day:

Worf arrived early and made sure everything in the store and meditation room was in perfect order before opening the doors.

He's now standing at attention behind the counter as if waiting for an Admiral to walk in the door at any minute.

If Chad was in a good mood today (which he was), it didn't really show (because he's Chad). But, really, there was only one thing that could have made his day better and that would have been to finally see that the ad he shot was running in a magazine. As he idly waited for the hours of the workday to tick away, he flipped through a few and, sure enough, there it was. And sure enough, there he was, although, in the scope of the ad as a whole, Chad was noticeable mainly because he was Chad, but he was in the background of all of it, barely part of the main ad itself, but he was there and he found it, and this added to the events of weekend made this Monday possibly the best Monday ever.

He was in an ad. Sure, you had to search a little bit to find him, but there he was! It was...so cool.

Prince Oscar Pedro got sick of hearing Chad talking about it in Japanese after a half hour, though.

Today's Mix: Sex Blurred Weekend, and it was actually applicable again. Mmmm. Gooooood weekend.

Knowing that there were new kids around, Chad had also brushed the dust of the Help Wanted sign and put it in the window.

Mary found a ton of paperwork for her when she got to the front desk. There were people who checked in, people who checked out, records that needed to be updated, purchase orders from Gunther that needed to be approved, a package that was buzzing...

That definitely got Mary's attention. She opened the box to find that Delinda Deline had sent her a Frisky Ferret for her birthday, and the thing was vibrating. Mary took out the batteries, stashed the box under the desk, and tried to pretend that she hadn't seen the thing.

G'Kar snagged one of the larger tables and had a few books and notepads piled up in a stack. He also had a small, black data pad that he'd handwavily gone searching his apartment for last night. It was something he hadn't used in a very long time, and he was relieved to find it still working.

Now however, he was busy writing out the Narn alphabet on a notepad, along with the English equivalent.

It had been a very long couple of weeks for Cable's back. Luckily, inhabiting the island meant that it was somewhat easier to tend to than the last time he'd found himself wandering the globe. Which is what found Nathan lying facedown on a massage table, the masseuse's hands placed strategically along the line of his techno-organic parts.

"Oof. There's a knot just a little to the-- yep."

One could almost feel the eyerolling that emanated from the cellphone lying a few inches away from his head. )

[ mostly establishy but for one, and obviously Theodoric's got other facilities which are free to be used for all, yay. ]

Seregil was a little late opening the shop today due to having a class first period, but open it he did.

He was a little more thoughtful than usual, reflecting on the discussions that happened in said class, but he quickly tried to distract himself with some books that had absolutely nothing to do with destiny and fate.

The Book Haven was open.

Monday found the iceberg still stuck to Fandom.

If it was at all possible for icebergs to look smug, this one did. Of all the icebergs in all the oceans, only it had been smart enough to find a life of luxury nestled next to a nice warm island.

Jolee had no clue what was going on tonight. Tino had brought the Zombie Band something called "Rock Band." Instead of playing their own instruments, they were playing plastic instruments to get points on a big screen at the back of the stage.

But as long as it kept Tino and the zombies entertained, Jolee would be able to deal.

[OOC: Not feeling great tonight, but the help wanted sign is still up. Please mod Tino - who's in a good mood tonight - unless it's about a job.]
