Nell was a bit perplexed to have the store visited by a group of raccoons were sunglasses. 'Raybans' apparently according to them. They kept telling her that today was the day to go out and 'catch the rays' and weren't satisfied until she assured them she'd be getting plenty of outside time.

Covent Garden Flowers was open.

Nell and the Plant Formerly Known as Gladio were once again at the flower shop today. Nell still had his robe nearby - just in case. The shop was fairly quiet today, so anyone stopping in might see Nell sitting in a chair reading to a vase of Gladiolas.

What? He might be able to hear her even as a plant. You never knew in Fandom.

Nell (who was absolutely here every week whether or not it seemed that way) had been woken up ridiculously early - and she was already an incredibly early riser. It seemed that Ignis was off with Liliana and needed Gladio to help Prompto cover his class - none of which made Gladio very happy (except for the opportunity to make the class all about Cup Noodle).

All of which meant that Nell was out and about even earlier this morning - she certainly wasn't letting Gladio get up by himself. Which also meant that she'd gotten the majority of the basic work done at the shop when Prompto called to let her know that Gladio had turned into a plant again.

Which explained the pot of Gladiolas currently sitting on the counter of the store with a "Not For Sale -Do Not Touch" sign on it.

Sigh...

Nell had not been affected by the whatever it was that had disappeared yesterday and then returned, so she was confused by customers coming in and asking her if she was relieved that 'it' was back.

But, being a good shop person, she just agreed and went on with the day, feeling a little bewildered.

The flowers were laughing at her behind her back. Apparently they had their own little 'Flower Tok' thing going on.

And today there was delivery after delivery of rubber ducks. Nell finally had to start refusing delivery since she had no idea what in the workd she'd even do with the ones she already had.

Guess what was going out with every flower delivery or order?

Nell had certainly been here every week whether it had seemed like it or not. She was glad the Christmas and New Year's rush was over so she had time to finish up some paperwork. The next big push wouldn't come till February, but there would definitely be those who stopped by for flowers to brighten the gloomy days.

Nell was having a quiet day today so when a passing customer told her today was national dessert day she started planning out fun desserts for the evening.

Nothing too fancy, just plain old good desserts.

She might have to do a little shopping after work.

Today was a day for cleaning. Which meant everything taken down, cleaned to within an inch of its life, straightened, put back again, and organized. Walls, floors, shelves, nothing was safe.

The flowers had been through this before and just quietly made sure all their leaves and petals were in order and waited for it all to stop. It was worth it, they like a sparkling clean shop as well as Nell, but while the cleaning was going on it was a bit intense.

It was a quiet day today, which Nell took full advantage of in order to catch up on paperwork for both stores.

Midafternoon she had a visit from one of the raccoons with a pile of rocks because apparently it was national collect rocks day and they wanted to share. Which was nice of them, she thought as she set them aside. Now she had to figure out something to do with them.

Monday started off as a normal day, then partway through Nell sensed something and went running out of the store, pausing only long enough to turn off the lights and lock the door.

Anyone wanting to get flowers after that was out of luck. Sorry for that.

[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell didn't expect too much business today given that it was a holiday, but that just gave her more time to finish up the never ending paperwork. And a bit of an excuse to be a bit lazy in the afternoon once all the work was done.

Still, she was here and Covent Garden Flowers was open.

Nell was busy organizing the shop this morning and hoping that nothing particularly strange was going to happen today. There was a lot of paperwork and ordering to get done for both stores and she hoped - and she shouldn't have even thought it.

There was a knock on the door and before she could even catch her breath she'd been left with two very large crates of potatoes.

Potatoes.

Well, guess what every delivery was going to have with it today? Nicely decorated with a bow and ribbons, but still a potato.

You're welcome.

The flowers were all a bit droopy today with the heat, so Nell have them at some extra water and bumped the air conditioner up a little to try and keep things cool.

Luckily she didn't have any deliveries today so she could stay inside and take care of more sedentary things like ordering and updating their web presence.

Covent Garden Flowers is open!

Nell had woken up this morning with no memory of anything after going to bed Friday night. Once she had gotten through the basics of her duties at the shop she sat down to listen to radio for any clues about what had gone on.

It seemed that Fandom had done that strange reunion thing where many of the people had been replaced by themselves from the future.

And in Nell's case apparently that involved a life in the circus with fifteen - FIFTEEN - children! She'd had to stop listening for a moment after that and collect herself. Children in general seemed barely possible, but fifteen!?!

She'd also apparently flirted with Gladio, hardly surprising, but no clear sign that they were actually together. Which was not helped by a random squirrel stopping by to tell her that Gladio had apparently talked about being some sort of multiverse famous Cup Noodle model slash spokesperson -because 'he thought she ought to know', thanks for nothing, Jethro. And of course that sort of lifestyle seemed to preclude a life in the circus with the aforementioned fifteen children.

It must have been, hopefully, some weird sort of Fandom joke. Hopefully.

She was going to need something a little stronger than tea or coffee to deal with this.

Today was definitely a day for spring (summer) cleaning. Nell had everything out in the shop, doing a deep clean, rearranging, and getting rid of all sorts of old things they didn't use.

Why in the world did they have two boxes full of flyers for an event held ten years ago? Or an entire forgotten box of matchbooks?

In any case, by the end of the day the shop was going to be spotless and Nell was going to be sweaty and dirty.
mylandmyrules: (Happy Y)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was definitely in a happy mood today and feeling quite content after her weekend. The flowers were particularly peppy as well, and a few of the snap dragons had taken to whistling at attractive customers or passersby.

Which was a little embarrassing for Nell at times, since people didn't seem inclined to believe it was the flowers.

Still, such was life in Fandom.

Nell was feeling a little sleepy this morning, and the flowers weren't helping because they kept humming lullabies. If someone came in and found Nell asleep at the counter it wasn't her fault!

[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was here, but slightly distracted as she made notes for all the things she needed to accomplish on her next quick trip home. The shop was slow most of the day, which helped, though the large surprise delivery of 400 daffodils did make things a little odd.

Today was a quiet day at the shop. Which meant that Nell would be very pleased to have anyone stop in to say hello. Surely someone would like some flowers?

Nell was here and all the flowers were singing a song to the spring. It was pretty catchy, so Nell found herself singing along with them.

It was a lovely day at the shop, so people should come in and visit!

[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was in a thoughtful mood today, so she had some quiet music playing as she went about the daily routines of the stores. The flowers seemed a bit muted as well. Even their colors didn't seem as vibrant today. Hopefully they'd all perk up soon!

Last week had been long and filled with unpleasant Fandom weirdness. But today she was hard at work at the flower shop, fixing - well, she didn't even really want to know what had left flower parts strewn all over the shop. She just cleaned and took inventory before placing orders to replace stock that had disappeared or been ruined since she'd last been here.

She'd debated bringing the vase of gladiolas along with her, but was concerned about carrying them around town especially since she didn't know what mess she might have been walking into today. Tomorrow it - he - could come down to her shop and when she got home tonight she'd tell it all about her day.

She didn't anticipate anyone coming by for dinner given all the craziness, so it should be a quiet evening.
mylandmyrules: (Smiling shy)

Nell received several deliveries today and everyone came with a 'complimentary' delivery of jelly beans. Apparently today was National Jelly Bean day?

She thanked the delivery people politely and set out a couple of bowls of jellybeans for the customers. A squirrel stopped by near the end of the day, she thought it might have been Leroy and made it clear that he'd really like to take some of them. So she made him up a little squirrel care package and sent him off.

Nell was wondering if any of the island's visiting children would come in today. She didn't think it was likely that many of the island adults would be looking for flowers rather than spending time with their children, so it was probably going to be a quiet day.

Still she'd brought in some freshly baked cookies and brownies just in case she had any young visitors. They were easy enough to bring home afterward if they weren't eaten and at least then she'd have something to offer

Nell was a bit distracted today, thinking about the party this evening, but she still managed to get all of her work done fairly quickly. That left her plenty of time to go over her lists and check what she had left to do.

She even had time to sit down with a cup of tea later in the day for a last check of htelists.

Things were going along fairly well at the flower shop until Nell got a delivery of flowers and a group of bunnies followed the person into the store. Nell shooed the man, who was looking at her in a most uncomfortable way, out of the store and tried to herd the bunnies out as well.

She was mostly successful, but the pollen lingered, leaving her flustered and unsettled. The last times she'd been around for pollen week she hadn't really understood how it had made her feel, but this time she did. Which was why she was considering closing up early and going home to see if Gladio might be there.

Nell was greeted with a slew of miniature apple trees when she arrived today. Very fruitful apple trees. They just kept producing more and more small apples till she had several bushels of them. At least they were tasty.

Today was mostly a day for cleaning up all the detritus left over from last week's insanity, though there was the one guy who calle in looking for an extra fancy bouquet to make up for totally spacing on Valentine's last week.

But once everything was clean it was actually a very quiet day with lots of time for Nell to read and enjoy the peace.

Flowers, flowers, flowers. Nell was up to her eyeballs and beyond in flowers. What else was there to say about being in a flower shop two days before Valentine's Day?
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Things were already getting crazy here during the lead up to Valentine's Day, so Nell was run off her feet between taking orders and trying to source some of the more unusual flowers people wanted to give their sweethearts. And no, she was not going to be able to get anyone a Middlemist Red flower no matter how much they might want one.
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was happily working with the flowers today when a gremlim came in carrying boxes of puzzles. She was not about to argue with him, thank you very much, so she ended up with several stacks of puzzles on the front tables with a sign "Free to a good home".
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Everything had polka dots today. Why, Nell had no idea. It was little disturbing to see roses and orchids with polka dots, but turning around and finding they'd covered all the windows and the counters was very bizarre.

Still, what could she do? She put her head down, got her work done and disappeared into a book whenever she could.
mylandmyrules: (Hopeful)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell had been a little reluctant to get out of bed this morning, but she'd faced the morning chill and made her way to work where the flowers were waiting for her. They'd seemed awfully happy today, humming along with the radio.

Though maybe it was just that Nell was awful happy today and that colored all of her interactions. Even the grumpy customer who complained about the prices and the lack of smell to the flowers eventually went away happy.
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was happy to be in the quieter time of the year. She'd gotten a random email about it being National Bubble Bath Day and was taking som time to see if she could add bubble bath and bath bombs to her selection of handmade items at her own store.
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was going to ignore the fact that the store was gingerbread today. And that her store was gingerbread. And that her house was gingerbread. There was nothing she could do about it, so she just had to ignore and hope that like most things it would be back to normal tomorrow.

So, she would focus on this last push for getting orders out and be glad that this would be her last day working here until the new year.
mylandmyrules: (Hopeful)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was still basking in happiness from her amazing weekend trip away with Gladio. She didn't even really mind the constantly appearing plate of latkes - they weren't a bad breakfast, and she could always set them outside for the animals. The store was busy with orders to fill, but calmer overall than it had been last week.

Around early afternoon she finished up the new floral arrangements for Liliana and sent them off, leaving her with a little time to sit and put her feet up and daydream a little about her weekend.
mylandmyrules: (Hopeful)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell had spent a fair amount of time first cleaning up the store after she tracked powdered sugar in and then trying to sweep it off the store's sidewalk. After a while she simply accepted that it was futile and just left a broom by the front door so she could clean up what anyone happened to track in. Then she settled in to fill orders and ponder where Gladio might take her for their belated birthday trip. The mountains, he'd said. Mmmmm.
mylandmyrules: (Default)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Apparently Cyber Monday had led to a plethora of online orders for the store, so Nell was kept pretty busy filling those and sending them out all day as well as keeping tabs on the orders for her own store which she'd get to as soon as she got home.

Still she was a hard worker and by mid-afternoon she'd caught up enough to be able to take her usual break and put her feet up for a few minutes before getting back to it.

In any case, the flower shop was open and Nell wouldn't mind an excuse for a break here and there if someone wanted to stop in.

It had been an interesting weekend. Thinking of Gladio as a child made her smile and gave her an idea for later. Nothing seemed to have been disturbed in the flower shop, so it was easy to fill and send out the Thanksgiving orders that had come in, leaving her plenty of time to think about things.

Nell herself hadn't actually left her house over the weekend, though her little self had been a little worried about missing the Sunday services there hadn't seemed to be any Church people there to run them, so she'd spent the day quietly. With the kittens. And wondering about the big boy who'd been there when she woke up Saturday morning.

But today all was back to normal and Nell would welcome any who stopped by to buy flowers or just say hello.
mylandmyrules: (Hopeful)
[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was humming away happily in the store today. The weather was turning crisp and cool and she was enjoying the shift in the season and the smell of fall in the air. The flowers seemed content as well and she'd enjoyed making up some new more seasonal arrangements for anyone who might come in.

Nell was here, but a little distracted with everything having turned orange. Between that and having the leftovers she'd brought for lunch turn into nachos, it was quite an odd day.

[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell was here today and very grateful to have things back to, well, normal was a stretch in Fandom, but at least back to the way they usually were. Even the flowers seemed relieved somehow, which was probably why there was a beautifully scented atmosphere of happiness in the shop.

Stop by to experience it yourself!

Nell was a bit disturbed by the changes to the streets and the lights. She hadn't ever seen in person most of the stores that appeared - maybe read about them in a book - but the whole thing just seemed...odd.

She'd left the kittens safely upstairs before making her way to the flower shop and was trying to make it a business as usual day, even if the store seemed to be looking a little different around the edges.

Covent Grden Flowers was open.

There had been a delivery of roses this morning morning. Not just regular cut roses, which were common enough in a flower shop, but there were also a selection of mini rose bushes. These were utterly adorable and Nell set aside a couple for herself and made a note to get some of them for her store.

She discovered there were also a type of roses called knock out roses which looked amazing and apparently required little care and grew into a kind of shrub. Those were getting ordered as well!

Covent Garden Flowers was open and Nell was around for anything you might need.

Nell's weekend had been quite lovely, but it had left her pondering... a certain thing. Something that she needed some advice on or potentially assistance with and she wasn't quite sure who to ask or how or if she could even manage to ask someone, given the givens.

So, anyone stopping by might find her a bit distracted, but certainly ready to assist them with anything they might need.

Covent Gardens was open!

Nell kept herself busy filling orders and reorganizing things in the back room, but she was feeling a little blue today. She'd been reminded on Friday that it had been a year since she'd returned to Fandom and while she was very happy that she'd returned, she couldn't help but remember the things that had precipitated her return.

Which also made her think of Marc. He was the only one she'd told about certain things that had happened back home, the person who'd told her he would be there for her if she needed him. The first man she'd really trusted. And the person who for reasons she still didn't know had totally cut her out of his life between one day and the next.

She missed him and still had no idea how to fix things - if it was even possible.

It made her wonder a little if Gladio might do something similar once she told him more about the things that had happened back home. She didn't think he would, but then she'd never expected it of Marc either.

So... working hard to keep the blues away today.

Nell had truly enjoyed her evening out on Friday. It has been fun to watch all the people dressed up so fancy and to look at all the artwork from the children. The food and drink had been delicious and there had been enough wonderful dancing that her feet were still a little sore. And, well... Gladio. What more did she really need to say?

All of which combined made her a very happy and rather daydreamy Nell as she puttered around the flower shop filling orders and doing all her usual Monday things. She was finished with everything early, so took some time for her usual tea and a book break in the late afternoon should anyone want to stop by.

Covent Garden Flowers was open!

Nell was a bit daydreamy today as she worked with the flowers. She had a couple of big orders to get out, so that kept her pretty well occupied for the morning. After that she spent some time organizing the back room for better efficiency, before taking her usual afternoon tea and a book break.

[personal profile] mylandmyrules
Nell had not in any way, shape, or form been expecting the influx of wildlife today. Apparently it was National Wildlife Day and a large number of squirrels, raccoons, birds - and two teal deer- had stopped in to get a single flower for someone special. Thankfully one of the raccoons had explained this to her or she would have been kept even more woefully off balance today.

This was somewhat offset by one of the squirrels bringing in a box of pastries because it was also apparently National Eat A Second Dessert Day and he thoughtfully wanted to make sure she was able to do so.

In other words, just a normal day in Fandom.

Please come in, but beware of small animals bearing flowers.
mylandmyrules: (Hopeful)

Nell and the flowers were very happy today. On fact, it was entirely possible that someone stopping by the store might catch Nell dancing with an invisible partner.

Come on in and see for yourself!
