Disregarding last year's meadfest with their friends the Vikings, it was a fine Fandom tradition that the graduation day was followed up by a grad brunch on Sunday, and this year was no exception.

The weather was okay, and a feast had been laid out in the park. A banner spelling out CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2012 hung from the trees, and there were tables and chairs spread all around, some covered by tents and some not. And at the center of it all, naturally as at any good Fandom event, were the tables of moddable foods and drinks.

Even cake. Fandom High graduation ceremonies might have been things of surprise dropbear terror, but the school did take care of its own when it came to food. It was a very good time for the graduates, along with their classmates, friends and families, not to mention random townsfolk, to gather and celebrate yet another class making its way through the challenge knowns as high school.

Luke had gotten his father's message, but it had taken him a few days to extricate himself from the mess of politics in Coruscant and arrive in Fandom.

Now he was nursing a cup of coffee and wondering how exactly to broach things with Leia. He finally closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and reached out into the Force.

Leia?

Leia had stayed on the island after confronting her father. She was still too wound up to go home, and she wanted to talk to Ben, and Jaina as well if Anakin had called her like he offered. And Anakin (the younger one) again. And maybe Rory, too.

Anakin (the older one) she wasn't too sure about, and she couldn't very well drag him back to her galaxy to face trial for what he'd done when her version of him was still running around chopping off his children's limbs, freezing their would-be lovers, and subjugating the galaxy.

She hadn't slept well at all, so she was currently nursing a very strong cup of coffee as she tried to sort out her thoughts.

There were more glittery moose decorations than you could shake a stick at (not that the Student Council recommended shaking a stick at a moose) and the slight breeze from the crisp fall day was making some of the decorative maple leaves rustle around the many booths that had been placed in the park.

After you've had your fill of games and food, who wouldn't want to throw a ball or a pie at Jamie Madrox? And other people, of course, but mostly Jamie!

The blasted heath might be trying to devour the entire island, but it still hailed from one focal point. The campgrounds, now grey and full of ashes, held the source of the taint. A rock, so strangely hued, so alien-looking. The fissure it was in produced bubbles now under the last rays of the sun, sending the water trembling.

It was time to do something about it.

It would take work to draw all the grey out of the land, but concentrated effort might do it. After that, removing the rock might work - at least if the professors of Miskatonic University were right.

That was the plan.

But there were monsters on the horizon, playing and eating around the blasted heath, and they would not take any of this lightly.

Be ready, Fandom. It’s going to be a long day.

Leia wasn't sure where she was, but she wanted answers.

If she'd still been on Dagobah, if Yoda had still been alive, she might've thought this was one of his tests. But she wasn't and he wasn't and this certainly wasn't where she'd gone to sleep the night before.

But through the Force she could sense...something. She couldn't put a name to it, but it was like when she'd first met Luke and when she'd come to Dagobah. Some strange connection -- other potential Jedi? With his dying words Yoda had charged her to find others and train them. Maybe that was why she'd been brought here.

Regardless, she wanted to know where here was. And how to get back to Han and the Rebellion.

[Leia is Leia from The Empire Strikes Back: Infinities. Luke died on Hoth, she got trained by Yoda to be a Jedi Knight, and Han killed Vader when he came for her in the most improbable death ever. Really. He shot him twice. And Vader died all giddy that he had a little girl.]

Vida had gotten an early start in the park to set things up for the Strawberry Social. It had been chilly and damp when she arrived, but a stern glare at the clouds had sent them fleeing, and the sun was shining over the park now, making for a bright and sunny day. There was danceable music playing and plenty of places to stretch out and enjoy the sun.

Several picnic tables were laid end to end, covered with red table cloths and adorned with edible arrangements. There were plates to load up with food, which was available in plenty, including just about every strawberry dish imaginable. Vida had also thoughtfully provided red flowers to tuck in the hair and red scarves for those who might be feeling red-deficient.

Jessica was a tiny bit bummed out about graduation. She'd never finished high school due to the whole being transformed into a vampire. It had never bothered her before -- school was boring, after all, and being a vampire was so much more cool than school. But it was something she'd never get to do now, and just a tiny part of her felt sad about that.

Whatever. She threw off the mood and busied herself tidying up the bar.

Although the weekend was almost over, the esteemed alumni of Fandom High were not getting away without one last get-together. The park had been deemed too cold for the event, so the community center had been set up again with tasteful blue and yellow streamers and real flowers on the tables, although there might have been a few paper flowers still lying around from last night too.

There was plenty of food just waiting to be eaten, and if someone asked nicely, they might be able to acquire a drink or two as well. It was five o'clock somewhere.

The first arrivals to the warehouse would have found nothing - until the lights went on, dropping many shades of glitter down onto the floor. The glitter would stick around all night, almost-but-not-quite clashing with the colorful decor, though it did not seem to incite any boykissy.

Even if one of the janitors definitely took a shot at using it as an excuse.

There was a karaoke booth set up in the corner, and the rest of the party environment looked chaotic and incredibly merry. Reds, blues, and yellows had been thrown together like a crazy man had attacked the place with some paint.

A sign was posted at the front door:
G.O.B. Bluth Presents:
The Tenth Anniversary Edition of
Three Minute Dates at Caritas

hosted by A Matchmaker Named G.O.B.

Just before 6:00, the lights went dark and a sole zombie walked out onto the stage and sat down at a piano. The zombie then started playing The Final Countdown, followed by the other zombies, all with violins to join in. And then GOB walked out onto the stage, holding and petting a lovebird. He then released the bird, which flew up toward the ceiling before somehow getting stuck in an air duct.

As GOB went into his spiel about how 3MD was a Fandom institution that he started and how he had brought so much love to Fandom with it and that the tenth annual (he still hadn't figured that part out) edition demanded the respect that a piano and not doing magic ("Unless any of the legal ladies out there want to see me make another lovebird appear," and yes, he was talking about his penis).

Meanwhile, the lovebird was still stuck in the air duct. As air rushed past the bird and into the lounge, some strange pheromones released by the bird were thrown back at the stage, where it reacted with the already strange combination of zombie smell and cologne used to hide the zombie smell on such a classy occasion, somehow generating a powerful love potion that would be making its way into the lounge, affecting people at random for three minutes at a time. Bizarrely, that was exactly how long each of the dates tonight would be.

Sometimes Fandom worked in mysterious ways. Mysteriously sexy ways.

"I call your names, you meet up with each other, talk for three minutes, and then you'll hear the sound of a zombie smashing his hands against a bunch of piano keys. Go ahead and do it," GOB said. The zombie started smashing the keys randomly. One of the other zombies joined in because a band was all about teamwork. "And that's how we start!"

[The Bar Before the Dates | Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3 | Round 4 | Round 5 | OOC]
[Regular post-dates Caritas post]

[OOC: Lots of OCD coming IS UP. RANDOMLY ASSIGNED LOVE POTION IS MARKED IN THREAD TITLES WITH ONE OF THESE "*" AFTER THE AFFECTED PERSON'S NAME! For example: "Nick* / 3MD Participants" means that I will spend the next three minutes loving everyone who signed up. But not in a dirty way because that would be exhausting and I have a sister among the participants and eww.

Remember that you can also choose to be affected by love potion in any round(s) at your discretion. Also, the love potion can only affect people in the lounge during the dates. People at the bar and on the stage will not be affected. People who are affected will just be incredibly drawn to their date, flirt harder, maybe go for some physical contact more quickly, but they shouldn't necessarily go straight for making out. Unless you choose to have them go for it. The upper limit is player's choice.

As I'm going along, if I made an obvious mistake, like skipping a character completely for a round or posting a pairing twice, feel free to grab me on AIM or in the OOC thread and I'll make a quick fix. And remember, attacks on your dates will get you teleported elsewhere on the island.

Also remember that most playing should happen on Saturday, but if you need to finish a thread or two on Sunday, that's fine.

GO FORTH AND PLAY!]

Alex had woken up to some rambling text message from Dean Stinson about seizing the day and taking advantage of the warm weather to set up something for everyone down on the beach. When he'd become the dean's lackey, he didn't know but he actually got to it. It wasn't his money he was spending, after all. The first thing he'd done was plaster signs announcing the luau all over the dorms and town to let people know it was happening.

So, after a few quick hours of setup, the beach was now looking like a real luau was taking place. Tiki torches led the way to the beach, doing their best to provide lighting when the sun fell and to keep bugs away. Several tiki bars were laid out across an area of the beach, serving up drinks (yes, there was alcohol since adults were invited) and even conversation to those that might want it.

Palm trees with string lights had also been set up to make the luau more authentic. And, of course, there were several tables containing all sorts of moddable food for the partygoers to enjoy.

The weather was amazing and the luau was on!

Tino opened Caritas like he had been all week, but once Jaina got back from where goblins and robots roamed around, she went home long enough to clean up and then came into work a little late. As in, she was still sporting damp hair when she showed up. Like she owned a hair dryer.

When she got there, though, she made Tino a drink for showing up all week. He was either really fond of his job or really kind of dumb and either way, it deserved alcohol.

Max had arrived early today, figuring that it might be best to prepare things a bit. He walked out onto a nice open area of the beach, moved about thirty feet in from the water, and turned in a slow circle. Then he nodded to himself. This area would do nicely.

Taking a deep breath, Max concentrated. Beginning at his feet the sand began to flatten out, the shapes of the wind and waves fading away as his earthcrafting reached out. Once the circle was twenty five feet across, he shifted his attention, compressing the sand, making it more solid, easier to move on. Once he had a solid circle of sandstone, Max reached out to the ocean and carefully pulled some of the water from it up through the sand and into his little ring. Just enough to soften the surface so that landing on it wouldn't be like landing on solid rock. Because that would hurt.

With the space prepared, Max turned around in one final survey and nodded to himself. Then he lay down on his back and decided to nap for a bit.

Even though it was daytime, the "dolphins in space" theme had been carried over to the brunch. The mural was nowhere to be found, but inside the tent that had been set up to give everyone a shady place to gather, there were silver and blue metallic streamers and balloons hung up, and each of the tables had a blue flower arrangement on it.

There were no fish to be found though, unless you counted what could be on the food table. Honestly, that might not really be fish either.

From the radio broadcast the night before, and seeing that people were still not back to themselves this morning, Leia knew that her daughter was now a son and her nephew was now a niece, which gave her no small amount of glee despite the grimness of her latest trip home. And, of course, either her father or Rory or both had swapped since "flipping out" had been reported by the squirrels.

It was for her father she now waited at the Perk, anxious to talk to him about what she'd found out. And, of course, to see what he looked like today.

And thus began Parents' Weekend. It was an overcast day but the rain had long since tapered off. Just in case, tents had been erected all around the park to protect from the potential for wet stuff. No one needed their guest showing up cranky because they'd been rained on.

There were tables and tables of all sorts of food and drinks. There was something for everyone. The Student Council had spared no expense. Blue and gold tables and chairs were also spread out underneath the tents, giving guests and islanders a place to sit down and chat or sit down and eat or something to hide under.

A registration table stood near the front of the setup where guests could check in and get a nametag. A banner adorned the edges of the tents proclaiming:

Luke had promised his father that he'd visit--especially after hearing the admittedly sketchy details of what had happened on the island a few weeks ago--so there he was, eating pastries and waiting for Anakin to finish up some errands.

It had been a long time since Luke had gotten a chance to just sit and eat something that tasted good (the last system he'd visited had been heavy on the reconstituted glow-in-the-dark tree lichen and no), so as far as Luke was concerned, his dad could take his time.

Leia sat on a bench near the pond, idly throwing breadcrumbs for the ducks. She'd dreamed of her mother again that morning, mostly vague impressions of her face, an echo of her voice. It should've been impossible for her to have memories of her mother, but somehow she did. The holos Luke had shown her also flitted through her dreams, and she saw Padmé young and happy, and also quiet and determined. She kept hearing the voice saying if you dream them, they will come. Was it really possible? She'd just wait here and see.

With the humidity as high as it was today, Shelley was glad for all the awesome cosmetic and hair tips she had picked up from makeup artists and stylists over the years. The right conditioning agent and just enough powder applied in just the right way, assured that her complexion and bouncy hair stayed as perfect as ever.

She had a feeling that today might be a good sales day for booty shorts and swim wear, so she moved a couple of racks closer to the door. Of course, sunglasses would be the perfect add-on sale, so she made sure to pick out a few of the best to model throughout the day. This had nothing to do with a possible hangover. Nothing at all.

Anakin skipped through a field of wildflowers with a gremlin riding along with him in his hood.

He and gremlins were the very closest of friends, of course. Who else would sing harmony to "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" with him?

"We're just in time, my friend!" he proclaimed, pointing to the sky. "The sun is about to go down. We must stand here and appreciate the moment. It's a very Jedi thing to do."

Leia wouldn't admit just how excited and anxious she was about her twin arriving on the island for graduation. Unfortunately, she didn't know exactly when he was arriving, and she found herself so full of nervous energy that she decided to go for a walk to try to calm herself down and pull herself together.

Also unfortunately, a pair of gremlins spotted her walking through the park and were greatly intrigued by a source of Skywalker blood they hadn't yet sampled. She did catch them sneaking up on her out of the corner of her eye and stopped to regard them warily. "You must be gremlins," she said, recognizing them from the descriptions she'd been given. She really wished she had her blaster with her. "Look, I don't want any trouble," she said, "so why don't you just go your way, and I'll go mine."

And that would be when a third gremlin tried to jump her from behind.

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.
