There was flatbread all over his stage, all over his booth, all over--

"Why don't I have stage hands? Why? I'm auditioning stage hands next production. Dear Lord, what the hell is wrong with this place?!"

That said, the show must go on.

It was previews tonight, so while there was a bit of nervousness, there wasn't the electricity of opening night. There was just the theatre with the chairs set up and the set made to resemble the very town they were in and oh my god they were up to previews.

Geoffrey was like a live wire, a wolf on the hunt, the scent of opening night in his noise and out in his hair and down his spine and he loved it, absolutely loved it.

"We're getting started, folks..."

He hadn't had much of a weekend, other than his usual slinking around his theatre, working on ideas for the production. A part of him was wanting to dress it up since they had some funds to spare, but another part of him loved the bare-bones production style regardless of how much money they had. It made the actors work harder and as far as he was concerned, that work was worth a lot more than quality sets and costumes. That said, no one had ever really hurt for having a little help and this wasn't anything particularly deep. It was as deep as a comedy could go, really, especially an amateur production, but...

He sighed and opened the door.

He'd have to talk to Tony about it.

Hurley totally zoomed into work... just a wee bit late. He'd overslept. Oops.

He opened up the shop, and put on the album that Chad had pointed out to him the other week. It was... pretty cool, actually.

As much as Fiyero was glad to be himself again ... he half-missed the feminine perks, as it were.

And maybe he was flipping through a girly magazine at the counter of the bookstore today. So sue him!

Besides, maybe he could find something he'd be able to cook.

Fiyero is, as usual, sitting at the counter and reading over the play.

His lines are at least slowly coming together, so there is that. He looks approachable enough.

{OOC: And OCD-less.}

Another day, another snippet of script to work on. At least he was getting good amounts of practicing in.

Fiyero flipped the page of his playbook and glanced up from the front desk now and again. He didn't want any customers to go without, after all. He hummed while he read, something low and probably from his school days at Shiz.
[identity profile] arjiki-diamonds.livejournal.com
As is perhaps expected, Fiyero is sitting at the front desk and browsing his copy of the play, jotting down notes in the column.

He'd like to do well with it, so it only makes sense that he'd review his lines as much as possible.

To say that Penelope wasn't nervous for her first night of work would be a vast understatement. She was terribly nervous and excited and coming into work early only managed to give her time to work up more nervousness. It was an awful feeling in the center of her belly.

Tino set a draft beer on the counter in front of her and without a word, Penelope sipped it using a straw. Ten minutes later she was feeling much better and ready to serve the public.

The zombies were playing something she didn't recognize but it didn't matter, it was entertaining if not bizarre.

Caritas is open!

Another day, another bit of work!

This time he's sitting at the counter and browsing though Cooking Basics for Dummies.

He does not, however, look too busy to answer questions or help someone to find a book.

Geoffrey had woken up early today.

Today... was the start of a new play. Today he'd get to deal with a new set of actors, a new text, a new production. Today, a fresh new brew of insanity was due to begin percolating.

It was like crack.

For today, they'd be doing a read through and so he set up the chairs in a circle before taking his own seat.

He didn't know why, but Murdock suddenly found himself in the mood for some ice cream. Specifically, a root beer float.

Of course the staff was a little put off when the 'expert root beer float maker' started to give them specifics on how to assmeble said treat. They just rolled their eyes and slapped one together anyway.

Curling up in a chair, he settled in with his float and occasionally gave 'tips' to the staff.

(very open! oooh root beer floats!)

This 'working' was starting to grow on Fiyero, admittedly. It was nice to feel as if the days weren't filled with nothing except minimal conversation and meals, really, and he'd taken to organizing the shelves to his liking and ensuring that the books stayed in that order, considering the amount of people who seemed to take novels or texts off the second shelf and for some unknown reason replace them on the third a few moments later.

He tapped his fingertip on the desk for a moment and then continued to write down The Oziad in full, scrawling handwriting. He thought it was something that Geoffrey would appreciate, at least.

That doesn't mean he's unapproachable, though. If there are questions he will certainly do his best to answer them in full.

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

Fiyero was rather glad that he hadn't managed to blow anything up on his first shift. As such, he's rather eager for his second - if only because tidying the shelves and the spot around the register made him feel as if he had something useful to contribute.

That happened very rarely, really. Most of the time in Oz he felt rather inadequate (although he hid it well) among his business associates that were so very used to the Emerald City and all that it had to offer. He felt very much at heart like he was still the slightly odd Prince from a far off land that had been regarded with caution before genuine acceptance during his time at Shiz.

That said, the bookstore was open for the needs of any who happened to stop by.

Today was a great deal more hectic, a great deal less irritating and, to Geoffrey, a great deal more exciting than yesterday had been. It had made him considerably more appreciative of the sturdy old footwear he sported, but not much else, and of course today was better for being the last day of casting.

It was, for all intents and purposes, Fiyero's first day of real work ... ever.

He supposed that discussing business with traders in the Emerald City counted as some sort of work, but the fact was that half of his time was taken up by social dinners. Those were not exactly strenuous.

He'd showed up a few minutes early and paced around for a little while before managing to settle behind the counter. Whatever Liir hadn't dusted he managed to clean up, and he'd swept for good measure.

Now, though, he was sure what he was supposed to do. Wait for a customer? Perhaps.

Millie was humming rather cheerfully as she worked around the store this morning. Part of it might be a bit of whistling in the dark as she knew she would miss some of the leaving students quite a bit.

But there would be new ones coming in soon and she was trying to think of that instead.

She was also going to have to put up a help wanted sign soon as she was down to only two employees.
[identity profile] arjiki-diamonds.livejournal.com
It was cloudy today, but certainly warm enough for Fiyero. Living in a cool, damp castle for the majority of his life made him think that anything even five degrees colder than this was still perfectly reasonable beach weather.

That would be the reason why Fiyero is sitting shirtless on the end of the dock, dipping his tattooed feet into the cool water and tapping a pencil against the middle of his chin. Sitting in his lap is a list:

To do.
-Try out for play. (Owe this much to Geoffrey for current lodgings.)
-Acquire a job ---> Book Haven? (Working with Liir might be very odd.)
-Finish reading up on the 'Town' ---> Questions to Liir Geoffrey.

He'd meant to write a few more things down, but when he puts the pencil to the paper once more it's to start a rather shaky sketch of the water.
[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com
Smiling more often than he did usually, Liir made his way to the store relatively early. He slipped in, he did his usual once over of straightening the books and dusting the shelves and since he had the time, he even did a quick sweep as well. The tea and cookies were put out, along with a pitcher of lemonade and everything looked very well for a book shop by the time he took up his book and settled at the counter.

The Book Haven was open.

[all other threads VERY much before Fiyero's hi dad OMG]

He needed to get back to the apartment. Elphaba had expressly told him not to follow her (and for good reason, he now knew) and she would be furious (well, more furious than usual) if she found out that he had.

...when he turned the knob of the door and stepped through the frame, he was greeted by cheery blond woman wielding an ice cream scoop.

There were so many things wrong with this scenario that Fiyero was very certain that he must have been hallucinating it.

Cue one very tattooed man re-opening and backing out of the door while still facing the counter and employee.

A moment later, the door was pushed open again and Fiyero walked in to find the same woman. She was now trying to narrowly restrain her giggles, however. Fiyero frowned, moving to the counter to peer over the edge. Perhaps this was some very elaborate and over-orchestrated prank to teach him a lesson for disobeying Elphaba's orders -- she'd replaced her flat with a treats parlour.

...right, that seemed very likely.

"Uh," he managed with all the eloquence of a Prince taken completely off-guard, "you aren't secretly green, are you?"
