No, it wasn't Friday. But the weather today was nice enough out; no rain, only a bit of a chill in the air, and enough of a workout would make that chill perfectly welcome. Kanan had made arrangements with Rey to head out to do some more training, and so he'd packed up a couple of the bamboo training swords, his ever-present disassembled lightsaber, and, a new addition to the training regime today, his holocron, and had set off to the park.

By the time she'd be arriving, he wasn't doing any fancy flips or anything, no. He was mostly just turning the ornate, softball-sized cube over in his hands, contemplating it without actually opening it. His Master had given it to him once so that he could better understand the role of questions within the Order. Now there was no Order, and he was left questioning his understanding of the role he had without.

But, he supposed, the least he could do with what little he had was teach it.

Kanan wasn't really certain how he'd gotten roped into this.

Well, he had some idea, anyway. The cook had called in sick, and while there was some cumulative knowhow about making edible food between the entirety of the staff, somehow it had come out that in doing odd jobs across the galaxy, Kanan, too, could actually make an edible meal, provided he knew what the ingredients were. And there were recipes to follow in the kitchen, and hell, there were even a few things in the freezer that were reminiscent of food items from home.

Everything else, he figured he could fake it with.

Rey was in a better mood today, which may have partly been because people were coming back today. She was still kind of mad at herself, but at least there would be distractions again. Hoping for one of those distractions, she ended up at the Perk again, sitting by the window with a small coffee to people watch, since she could.

If you'd told her three months ago that she'd be so glad to be around people she mostly didn't know, she'd have thought you were crazy.

The weather had finally started to take a turn toward autumn around here, it seemed, and the slight chill in the air was what Kanan was choosing to put his focus into today, rather than how thankful he was to be back to normal even while a large number of the island's residents still weren't. Being back to normal now meant there was a frame of reference for the rest, hopefully, and it was easy enough to haul the bamboo shinai to the park in any case, so that the margin for injury during training today was minimized somewhat.

Sure, he had his lightsaber out and was doing some fairly acrobatic forms today while he waited for anybody who might decide to join him today, but after a week of knocking his knuckles on the sides of kitchen counters and accidentally knocking his chest into corners, could anybody really blame him?

Kitty had expected Fandom's little event to flip sometime soon, but she had not expected that it would be today. So it just happened to be lucky that she and Tony had already planned this, in case people needed it.

And she was privately celebrating the hell out of the fact that this one missed her for once. This one never skipped her! Was it because she had a kid? It actually was. Did she have to keep having them to ensure she missed this one? She was good with the one she had but she'd considered it for maybe a whole three seconds!

Anyway, there was an all-ages game night party, set up in the back room, with posters stuck up around town earlier in the day to advertise and a sign on the door inviting people in. There were drinks and food and a Tino at the bar, and considering this week, the people of Fandom deserved some fun.

Sparkle? Was in a surprisingly good mood today. Their morning had been not-bad-at-all, thank you, and today seemed like as good a day as any to test-drive a singular 'they,' to see how it felt. And, you know, there were a bunch of guys today who were probably having a difficult time, so...

Here was Sparkle, showing up for a second whole day in a row to check up on the place, round up every sports bra and multi-pack of women's underwear in the shop, and put them out with a sign in the window.

Pancakes.

Of course, the special for the day was pancakes. It had been pancakes for years, now. It would probably be pancakes for years to come.

But this was also the first week for... probably also years to come... that Kanan knew he wouldn't have one of his regulars coming in to give the kitchen staff hell over it, and with that in mind, after a few pokes from the cook, he sighed and said, "Fine. Might as well get out the things for waffles too."

Compromise. Or utter defeat. One of those two things.

Welcome to Luke's!

Did Kanan look tired today as he made his way into the park? You bet Kanan looked tired today as he made his way into the park. Yesterday's jello rain had caught him off-guard, and he'd spent far too much of his day getting tarps up over the Escape and then heading to the scrapyard to do the same for the Ghost, before doubling back to try to clean the ships from underneath those tarps before that gunk started to harden there. Sure, going fast enough in-atmosphere would just burn it off, but his ship in particular had jointed wings, and you couldn't burn anything off if you couldn't unfold them. Not to mention the worry that some of that might have made its way into the inner workings, and then there was the chore of uncovering them again, and...

Suffice it to say that being the maintenance man on a pair of freighters meant that he had his work cut out for him whenever the island's weather decided to get a little weird.

Which was why he was meditating in the park this afternoon, honest.

It wasn't sleeping, it was just... kinda close to it, that was all.

Though, really, he could probably stand to get some more of that sleep stuff, too.

"What are you doing?"

"Making waf--"

"It's Sunday," Kanan interrupted, raising an eyebrow at the cook.

"But there's a brunch serving pancakes already," the cook protested.

"I don't care," Kanan informed him. Stance, at his side, barked his agreement. "This is Summer's last Sunday on the island, there are going to be pancakes."

Grumbling, the cook set to work, readying the pancake supplies.

Which, in fairness, weren't all that different from the waffle supplies anyway. It was just the principle of the whole thing.

That accomplished, Kanan settled behind the counter, put on a fresh pot of coffee, and scrounged up a couple of pieces of bacon to throw to his dog while they waited for Summer to come pick him up for some quality puppy time before she made her way off to... you know. Coruscant.

So... Kanan didn't have his lightsaber out in the park today. Sure, he had it with him. He always had it with him, though it wasn't in any recognizable sort of shape, separated in two different pieces on his belt. He had brought his bag of bamboo training swords, though, because it wasn't sword club (shut up, Seivarden) without swords.

Just... not the recognizable sword. The Jedi dead giveaway.

Not until he could be sure he wasn't going to find himself within ten meters of a surprise Darth Vader again, anyway. The only weekends that had him more paranoid than welcome picnic weekends, after all, were Parents' Weekend ones.

Hell, he was even trying to avoid any established Jedi forms today, mostly taking some time today to try to run through some kendo patterns he was pausing every now and again to look up on his phone for reference. You know. In order to be sure he was doing it right, because it never hurt to broaden his horizons in as un-Jedi a way as possible for no obvious reason right when the island was about to be flooded by strangers, potentially from his own galaxy.

Shh.

Another Friday, another training session in the park. And if there were more people on the island than usual today, Kanan really wasn't thinking much of it. After the summer the island had had? For all he knew, they could be here to deal with insurance claims or something.

Yes, he was aware that was an uncharacteristically optimistic way of thinking about it, but really, he just wanted to run lightsaber forms in the park without thinking too hard about who might stop by to spectate.

... And if he was running through his most familiar Form III patterns, well, it was because he was still well aware that someone might stop by to spectate.

So.

Kaidan had sent a text as promised. Carrying and overlarge duffel bag, in the same outfit he'd left the island in. Cargo pants, t-shirt, boots. A little more wear and tear on the boots, the leather of one toe had a distinct bitemark impression from one of the little Kroglettes. He smiled every time he looked at it. She was his favorite, the feisty little runt of the first hatch.

It had been a good few days after a very long month. He still badly needed sleep, but that was a never-ending problem lately, and had been for over a year now. At least maybe now his brain could content itself with something. The mission had been a success. Impromptu and done mostly out of panic, the Hail Mary had succeeded. The galaxy wouldn't be the same, but he couldn't help but think it would be better. Maybe a little more stable. Maybe give him a little more room to breathe for just a little while longer.

He waited for the portal to open and when it did, he stepped through. Back to the island he went.

Last night, a very large wolf had gone to sleep behind some machinery in the scrapyard.

This morning, a very naked Jedi had made a bolt for the Ghost in the wee hours of the day, snarking back at the orange astromech who was blatting his amusement at him and making him open the door his own damn self.

... By the early afternoon, Kanan was clothed and had managed to salvage whatever scrap of dignity he had left, and so he'd made his way to the park with a spotty dog in a swimming vest who just couldn't resist occasionally making his way back to his person to have a sniff, because Stance was sure he smelled a whole lot of wolf, there.

Kanan wasn't training, not just yet. Kanan was enjoying having thumbs back and throwing a ball for Stance to chase all over the place, at least until someone showed up.

Just when Wayne was spending some of his Monday thinking about how some of the things on the snowmobile in the scrapyard could use some welding, he went to his shop class on Tuesday where they were welding. How apropos!

So guess who talked to his teacher about letting him borrow some of the welding equipment for the day so that he could bring it with him to work and get to touching up some parts of the body and using some scrap to fashion out some of the parts that were missing with a welding gun and mask ready and rarin' to go.

After, of course, making a small, thoughtful "Huh!" sound when he saw that some other hands had been picking at the thing as well. Good work, too, and he might have been a little offended to think that someone else was getting all up in his project, but more hands make less work, and the work had been good, and it was almost a little bit fun, trying to see what had been done in the meantime, and then thinking of what he could do to it for them to notice and admire like he was doing about their work.

It wasn't like there was a lot of guesswork involved in exactly who might be touching it up along with him, either, and that added to the fun of it, too.

Syndulla Scrap is open! Mind the welding.

It was a nice day out, and inventory had suffered over the summer, so Hera figured she might as well start over. Okay, this was essentially as useful as Wayne's "move things from here to here" philosophy of work, but she might find some interesting things she'd missed.

Someone had apparently been working on the rusted-out thing she'd found was a snowmobile, so she'd make sure everything there was secured before she let the bitey bits out for some exercise.

So today there'd be a twi'lek exploring the recent mounds of scrap, some bits of metal gnawing on things and chasing each other around, and more bits of metal snoozing in the sun. Which made them look like pretty much all the rest of the junk, so be careful where you stepped!

Syndulla Scrap was open!

It wasn't a bad day today to be in the park. It was a cloudy day, maybe, but not bad. They grey of the sky made the greens all seem to stand out in stark relief, and the blue glow of Kanan's lightsaber was like an electric streak as he worked his way through Ataru forms he'd learned in his youth. It was more aggressive than his usual Soresu by a long shot, yes, but it was something he'd been letting slip in a bad way, more confident and comfortable in the patterns he'd run again and again with his Master during the war.

Still, even a Jedi running forms that had begun to grow rust on them would likely present quite an impressive sight to those not well-versed in them, particularly once he started pushing himself into slightly more advanced steps, throwing quick strikes in succession and putting the Force behind the leaps and flips that no average human could manage.

... Occasionally just to avoid a milling group of ducks, granted. These things sometimes happened.

So Kanan wasn't teaching this semester, but that didn't mean he wasn't still at least slightly worried about what the new group of students would bring. There was always something, after all.

... Though at least this time around, if something messed with the bus, that was Skywalker's problem and he could keep new kids from driving off with the shuttle or whatever. And so, instead of worrying about that, Kanan had staked out a spot in the shade at the park and was running through Soresu forms again. Something slow and deliberate and familiar, because the Force only knew if he'd feel safe doing it after tomorrow.

Things were finally starting to wind down a little. Finally starting to approach something that Kanan had begun, at one point, to accept as his new normal. The week had been damn near good compared the fresh hell he felt like he'd been navigating for some time now, even if his head hadn't quite managed to wrap itself around the events of the week before just yet.

He was relieved to find that the same was the case with Luke's when he walked in. Normal Sunday pancake special, normal diner setup. Normal kitchen staff trying to herd some kind of weird giant tentacle thing back into the freezer...

He gave a content sigh as he settled behind the counter for his shift.

... Well. Today he was going to sit in the park and meditate near the pond, letting Stance roam free in his little swimming vest, because it was Friday, he had responsibilities, and his poor dog hadn't gotten out nearly enough over the summer due to various things thinking he looked tasty and Stance being dumb as rocks.

From far beneath their feet came the sound of a heavy explosion, large enough to shake the ground. Sounded like the strike team had done...something? At least? And the trembling didn't stop just because the explosion did; instead it kept going long enough to cause most of toys who were still upright to fall over. The remaining constructed minions crumbled apart as the last of the Toymaker's hold over the island came unraveled.

With a deep, shuddering groan, the very earth beneath the Junkyard tore itself apart as a huge outcropping of machinery, like a spire made from metal and circuitry, dragged itself up into the sky. Then it became apparent this wasn't a spire but a stalk as a large cybernetic flower bloomed.

"Please input destination parameters." The voice that issued forth was warm and maternal, the kind of voice that could wrap you up in a hug. "Please input destination parameters. Do not be alarmed. Please input destination parameters so we may go home."

As such, that was where everyone who'd gotten caught in the island's machinery had been taken, shoved way below ground where there was only flickering florescent lights in bare fixtures and no fresh air.

Hey, they'd be getting all the fresh air they needed on the long walk to the Junkyard. Their last walk anywhere.

Green army men gathered all the traitors up, shoving them into a rough line, jump ropes turning them into a chain gang together.

"Isn't it exciting?" Karla said, doing a little dance as they got lined up. "This time, instead of cutting out at the gate, the Toymaker has decreed the island will watch you get fed to the machines. After you lot, there won't ever be traitors again."

Small enough a group to make sure that they could get in and get out easily, but large enough they could probably take out anything they might run into by accident - and with enough diverse talents to handle any non-fighty challenges that came up, too. Or, at least, one hoped so.

Sometime after midnight, Liam led the team down into the machinery beneath the island, sneaking past several Army Trooper patrols to do so. There were a few heart-pounding minutes, but eventually the last of them slipped into the darkness, sealing the entrance behind them.

For anyone who had never been down here - especially anyone interested in machinery or computers - it was an amazing sight, even with most of the usual materials replaced by Lego blocks. It was like a second city but completely underground and made of machinery. Kanan had agreed to let them use his warehouse, so Kitty showed up at the start of the day in case people showed up, not sure what she'd find.

What she found was a warehouse full of oversized, brightly-colored plastic children's playground equipment that sort of reminded her of the 80s.

The week had been a good one.

Sure, Kanan had spent most of it worried about Rey and trying to secure a means to get to Jakku, but on Friday that worry had been wiped away, and now he was left just kind of lingering around the island. He had another bad feeling about next week, but there wasn't much sense worrying about that today when he couldn't even begin to guess at how to prepare for it until tomorrow. Hera was taking Vette off on a mission to help some Twi'lek refugees settle in somewhere reasonably safe from the Empire, one where he'd be more hindrance than help, so things were just... quiet, today.

He'd brought his dog to work. Poor Stance had been cooped up for most of the summer, and so he was going to use every opportunity to get him out of the apartment that he possibly could. That definitely took care of a lot of the quiet, at least.

Especially since the staff was playing the 'how high could Stance jump to catch pieces of pork chop?' game.

If Stance happened to be jumping far higher than any dog had any business jumping from a standstill, well, Kanan certainly didn't have anything to do with that. Honest.

Luke's is open, mind the dog.

Kanan Jarrus had been a man on a mission since Rey had missed her second check-in last week. Unfortunately, there had been one thing standing in the way of that mission: Gnomes. Slicing his phone to figure out exactly which reality he'd needed to grab a portal to had been accomplished easily enough. Having Chopper assist made the process that much faster, though Kanan strongly suspected it was no accident that there had been a sudden dump of weird photos of Stance from the course of the summer to his Instagram and Twitter accounts for people to squint at and speculate over.

The ones of pixel Stance in a frog suit had been especially popular.

Kanan had hardly noticed his dog's sudden uptick in internet fame. Once Chop had coughed up coordinates he'd immediately set off to argue with the gnomes, butting heads for a damn week over things like 'authorization' and 'technical difficulty,' until finally, this morning, he'd thrown his hands up in the air, marched into the Portalocity office in person, demanded to speak to the manager, and then had picked the guy up by the lapels and shook.

One does not stand between Kanan Jarrus and a possible rescue mission.

Not... not that he was certain it was a rescue mission. Not really. For all he knew, Rey's battery had finally died beyond the point of salvage and she just needed a new phone.

For all he hoped, Rey's battery had finally died beyond the point of salvage and she just needed a new phone.

So Kanan had moved the Escape to the parking lot and was preparing it for the portal the gnomes had finally agreed to open for him that evening, making sure there was enough fuel if, for some reason, she wasn't on Jakku. Making sure he had enough blaster packs to keep him armed for a good long while. Making sure his navicomputer was functional, making sure he had rations and medkits and thorough starmaps of the space around Jakku and maps of the planet itself.

... Making sure he had the new phone he'd picked up for Rey, just in case that really was the problem.

It wasn't a rescue mission. It probably wasn't a rescue mission. He hoped to hell it wasn't a rescue mission, after all.

But if it was, he was pretty damn ready for a rescue mission.

Okay, so Kanan had lost his raccoon suit on Friday when Jack had biffed him a good one and made it poof. That was fine. He didn't miss being able to fly- he could jump far enough that it really didn't make much difference, though he was sort of missing the ability to fly anyway, just so that the trip to work could be a little less complex.

Still, when he got there, he wasn't terribly surprised to see that the staff seemed to be leaning hard into the lava motif outside.

Can it be charred? We'll char it! Can it be BBQ'd? We'll BBQ it!
Also, Pancakes

Kanan considered the specials board, and then shrugged.

Sure, that would do. He settled behind the counter and pulled out his phone, and then resumed writing an e-mail to Portalocity about how he didn't care if he wasn't authorized for access to Rey's reality, if they didn't hook him up with a portal there, he'd authorize his own damn self.

... So, that was how his week was going.

The good news was that Turtle & Canary itself was not underwater at the moment.

The bad news was that since pretty much everything else was, the only way to get in was through one of those green pipes on the roof.

The other good news was that Summer had managed to find one of those frog suits Kanan had mentioned yesterday.

The other bad news was that this now meant that Summer found herself stuck in a one of those frog suits Kanan had mentioned yesterday.

Which meant Kanan was definitely getting an apology text and a froggy selfie to prove to him exactly why.

Ahhh. Karma.

Kitty might complain about the underwater stuff, but once she got the hang of it, she was digging parts of this week. She was getting really good at getting coins, and the pipe travel? Kinda fun. There was even one that came right into the bar, which was handy.

The zombies were even dressed in raccoon suits (unsure how they got them!) and were playing along with the theme music, so Caritas was just embracing the weird today.

Kanan was worried. Well. In the few moments edgewise where Kanan actually got to be Kanan, Kanan was worried. He kept checking his phone hoping that maybe Rey had just gotten sidetracked on Friday and couldn't call because someone was paying close attention or something, but still, no word.

Was it too early to start making daring rescue plans? Hell, he didn't even know which version of his reality she was in, never mind what year, all he knew was 'Jakku,' and 'future,' because she'd always turned down offers of care packages. He'd never gotten an... address or anything...

He frowned at his phone and fired off a text.

Starting to worry, do you need someone to get you out of there? Text me when you can.

And then sighed and settled behind the counter, wondering if there was some way he could reverse-engineer the data on his phone to pinpoint exactly where and when her last calls had come from...

In the kitchen, the staff acted out a spaghetti western. Using actual spaghetti.

Kanan ignored them. Didn't even check to see if the specials board had pancakes on it, today.

(It did.)

There was a corner of the park, just on the border of the pond, where the disgusting summer heat broke into subarctic temperatures. Any duck that wandered into it became a penguin, which was, at least, Kanan's first indication that at least they weren't being invaded by snowmen again.

The fact that the penguins got around on little sleds and occasionally yelled, "Noot noot!" helped, too.

And, while Kanan had no damn clue what that even meant, he didn't figure it would be so terrible if he happened to work through his lightsaber forms just straddling the border of the hot and the cold. He had a lot to mull over this week. But, hell, at least he'd have plenty to tell Rey when she called.

... When she called.

When?

Huh. Usually Rey would have called by now.

"Noot noot!"

"Yeah, you and me both."

Once again, Kanan was taking advantage of that Jedi ability to slide beyond discomfort and just go on with his life, today. He walked into Luke's to see the staff taking turns hiding in the freezer and was actually confused for a moment before glancing outside, humming a little, and nodding.

Right. Heat. Too much of it.

"But can you still make pancakes?"

It was Sunday, guys.

No oppressive feelings, no monsters waiting to kill him or turn him into one of them or worse lurking in the shadows. Kanan was tentatively hopeful that things were getting back to more-or-less normal. Sure, his TA was a bird making little bird footprints all over one of the rooms of the Ghost with finger paints, and he could still feel the residual damage of the last few weeks haunting more than a few residents of the island.

But right now? Right now, Kanan's worst concern was surviving the heat. He'd brought Stance to the park today - yes, in his vesty-vest - and was letting him merrily harass the ducks while Kanan himself staked out a spot in the shade under one of the park's larger trees, where he was running through lightsaber forms in slow-motion, working on restraint and balance every bit as much as form and... not overheating and dying, really.

It seemed to be working out for Kanan, anyway.

There was little reason for Kanan to not show up for work today. The daytime, after all, was safe enough, with only the howling presence of the monsters across the causeway and the crawling horror trying to edge into his head keeping him from being at the top of his form.

He did turn a look to the rest of the staff as he stepped into the diner today, and while the busboy had a comment immediately at the ready, there was something about just how off Kanan seemed that had him holding his tongue after all.

"Somebody just put pancakes on the specials board so that we can get today over with," Kanan muttered, and immediately set to putting on another pot of coffee.

Just another day. And then maybe next week would be better.

Just another day.

So, the island had parked itself in Hell or something like it.

Which meant Kanan was doing his training in the warehouse today, firmly in the middle of daylight hours. The smoke inside wasn't as thick as it was outside, and while there was a small drifting of ash near the doorways, for the most part it was just... a warehouse.

Hurrah.

That said, apparently last week's goblins had thrown a party or something in here, and so his medkits had been cracked open and the contents were scattered, gauze draped over rafters and bacta patches just slapped onto walls in what looked to be some approximation of a smiley-face pattern.

Kanan sighed and started tidying up. Which was almost like training, if you squinted.

[OOC: Open! I have apparently just tuned in to the fact that time is a thing that exists, so happy Friday, I guess?]

It was funny, really. No matter how many times Kanan tried to get anywhere but the school, he seemed to wind up back at the school.

It had started out as an attempt to run a rescue mission, of sorts. If people were going missing, what better tool than the Force to help find them, right? And so he'd assembled his lightsaber, made certain there was enough ammunition for his blaster, and then he'd set out on a search for any... he didn't know what. Spheres that needed breaking? Kidnappers that needed shaking down?

He'd wound up at the school. Turned around, walked away from it, and wound up there again. Even stuck around for Rosa's class. He was there anyway, apparently this was what he needed to do, right?

Left.

Back to the school.

Left.

Back to the school.

"This is starting to get repetitive," he muttered to himself. And wound up, once again, back at the school.

myownface: The rainbow Pride flag (Pride)
[personal profile] myownface
The rainbow that had appeared for the parade seemed intent on sticking around for the picnic as well, and the weather seemed to be holding up nicely. The tables had been draped in tablecloths in the colours of various pride flags, and each one had a centerpiece that consisted of a vase with smaller moddable flags in it, free for the taking. Off to the side there was a ball pit, a giant inflatable rainbow slide (the kraken had been retired for the year on account of multiple instances of eldritch traumas), and other activities for people to enjoy. There were booths, there was food, and even the stage had made a reappearance this year, with a setup for karaoke if anybody was feeling daring, but plenty of room if anybody wanted to get up and play, too.

All-in-all? It was a lovely day with a brightly-coloured park open for everyone to come enjoy.

[OOC: And the picnic is good to go! Enjoy!]
myownface: The rainbow Pride flag (Pride)
[personal profile] myownface
There was a tradition on Fandom Island, for Pride. The island herself upheld it every year thus far, making a beautiful rainbow arc across the sky for the whole of the weekend. This year was no different; a rainbow, in full colour, reached up and stretched itself clear across the sky, and as it did so, a brilliant blue crept across the sky with it, and then down, until the blue touched the tips of the trees and green started to spread out, as well.

By the time the rainbow had finished his arc across the sky, the entire island was in beautiful, vibrant colour again, just in time for the parade.

Like last year, the parade itself was to start on the Causeway, follow Griffin Lane to Galactica Drive, Serendipity Place, Godiva Street, back onto Serendipity until it turned into Loon, then Chimera. Then one final turn onto Apocalypse before ending up at the Park, where there would be a picnic shortly after!

The weather was great, the island was bright, and there was no small amount of Pride today! Time for a parade!

So what if it was raining here and there on Kanan today? It wasn't like the gray of the rain changed much about the state of the island in general, after all, and Stance was having a grand time throwing himself at puddles to make up for the complete lack of being allowed to go out last week. He had a lot of lost time to make up for!

And a vesty-vest. For swimming.

Kanan, meanwhile, had staked out a place under the relative cover of one of the park's larger trees, and he had his lightsaber out so that he could run through forms with it. Rain or no, he wasn't passing up the opportunity to enjoy the outside before Force-only-knew-what got back to trying to kill them again next week.

So, last week had been... a thing, for sure. Kanan had kept his Wednesday free then in order to tend the bar for Summer for her birthday, but that had kind of fallen through. As things do when the birthday girl is turning into a violent monster and it's already bad enough that she's contemplating eating her cat.

This week seemed much better for it, even if the decorations left a little something to be desired in the color department. Kanan had still brought in a banner that said 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' on it, and one of those cheap plastic tiaras with 'Birthday Girl' across the top in sparkly lettering, so he figured he had done his part, here. He'd set the banner up in the lounge area, and was holding on to the tiara for Summer's arrival.

Hell, he'd even gone out of his way to make certain the drink specials were on point.

Today's Drink Special:
Mystery Jello Shots! First Round Free For Partygoers!
Look, all I know is that they wiggle and have alcohol in them.

They weren't much, but hey, Kanan was still mostly just proud he'd figured out Jello.

Kanan walked into Luke's today to see... pancakes, floating around the room.

He cast a look at the busboy, who was grinning like an idiot.

And then he held out a hand, pulled in a breath, and pulled the pancakes down onto a plate. Except for one, which landed squarely on the busboy's gaping face.

"No fair, yours are better!"

Kanan just shook his head.

"That poodoo'll kill you," he muttered, and stepped behind the counter.

Kanan didn't even want to know what might be lurking in the warehouse district this week. The scorpions had been one thing, the maniacs with implements of destruction? That was something else entirely. There wasn't going to be any meditation this week, but he was going to settle in and run through lightsaber forms, because if he was going to have to stop in the case of an attack, at least this way he was already well armed.

A little girl skipped by, singing a little singsong about angels.

Kanan left her and her protector be, giving the two of them a very, very wide berth. He had a deep, sinking feeling about the both of them. But then, he had that feeling about most of this.

Just a few more days. A few more days, and then... well. He still wouldn't complain about more dinosaurs.

On weeks like this one, Kitty was the safest person in town. She'd actually considered bringing Lexi with her, just to feel better having an eye on her, but decided it'd be better to not draw attention to her. Besides, when something tried to attack Kitty and just couldn't, it was kinda funny, but it'd likely freak out a seven-month-old.

She figured it'd be a quiet night, but like she'd said on radio, at least it was safe here. The bar had held up pretty well, even if the storage room was pretty picked over, but there was the sanctuary spell, and Kitty had some supplies here in case anyone needed any basic medical attention. Also the Art Deco look kind of worked.

She wasn't sure about the Plasmi-Quik chair thing in the back room, though.

"Gonna have some nerf, gonna have some nerf, gonna gonna gonna--"

Kanan had brought his dog to work today, yes. In part because he was well aware of how exhausting Stance could be and he wanted to give Hera a bit of a break, and in part because, unlike so many other places on the island, presumably Luke's still had meat somewhere in the freezer, and Kanan wasn't going to be That Guy who put his dog on a vegan diet if he could help it. He distinctly remembered that there was nerf in the freezer, and, while he had nerf at home, yes - he and Hera made certain to pick up food as part of their supply runs back home - he was really looking forward to having someone else cook it up for his dog today.

"... What do you mean, you used it all up yesterday? What do we have in there?"

Welcome to Luke's!
Today's Special:
Vegan Pancakes
Double Chocolate Avocado Ice Cream
And hot dogs for the carnivores.

Stance didn't seem to mind that alternative, either.
