Even with the sun out, it was still fairly chilly on the causeway, creating a brisk reminder of what everyone would be leaving behind for the next week as they traveled through the Caribbean.

As the students, teachers, and guests gathered to wait for the portal to Florida, everyone was given a copy of their lodging information and a trip itinerary to peruse:

Eastern Caribbean Cruise Itinerary (7 Days)
Sunday: Portal to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Ship departs 5:00PM)
Monday: Princess Cays, Bahamas (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Tuesday: At Sea
Wednesday: St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Thursday: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Friday: Grand Turk (Docked 9AM - 5PM)
Saturday: At Sea
Sunday: Portal back from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Portal opens 7AM)

[OOC: Up early for SP! The cruise posts are up now as well: rooms are here and the ship is here. Please check to make sure that you have a room assignment, and let us know if you were accidentally left off. Also, make sure you have [livejournal.com profile] fh_trips friended so you'll see the rest of the posts this week!]

Harvey didn't have too much trouble arranging the brunch in the park. Between the help of the rest of the StuCo members and oddly enough, Marshall (apparently he had a thing for brunch), Harvey hardly had to do a thing. And isn't that what being president is really about?

There was a harvest theme in the tent, with the tablecloths and napkins all in reds, yellows and oranges. Marshall even hand-made the autumn-themed centerpieces on the tables. There was also, of course, every kind of brunch food imaginable set up at the buffet table. There was probably even foods there that didn't even qualify as brunch. Harvey had a hankering for pizza earlier.

A sign was posted outside the tent:

Welcome Parents, Relatives and Friends!
Enjoy Sunday brunch with us!

It was still a beautiful day and there was still plenty of wonderful food in the Park, welcoming visitors to Fandom Island.

The registration desk was still open and the banner waved in the comfortable breeze announcing the event of the day.
Welcome to Parents Weekend 2008

Jaina was getting married today! She was very excited, because even though John hit on her thinking she was her sister once she'd stolen Brooke's identity and only wanted the Skywalker diamond mine, he was still all she ever wanted. And now she would own his ass.

The park had been done up to look nearly as beautiful as she did, and the duck pond would be a lovely backdrop for the wedding.

[Anyone can say they got an invite. And Winchesters can just crash. It's SOW, yo. Wait for OCD!]

Now that Vala knew his secret, Barney realized it was only a matter of time before she told Biff and they sold it to the Skywalkers for publication in their newspapers. That would mean the end to Barney's life waking up in bed with supermodels like Tink. He would do anything to keep the empire he'd built over the last dozen years as a man. It had taken a lot of hard work and really effective purgery strategies to get Barney where he was today.

Barnabus Stinson would not be taken down. He sat at his desk, looking out over the massive machine known as Atlas Gym and plotted the removal of his enemies. If only there was a convenient killer-for-hire, he'd so set up a hit.
[identity profile] suit-of-awesome.livejournal.com
There was a large signboard in front of Atlas Gym proclaiming the evening's event:

Swim Suit Up and Grab a Noodle!
Wednesdays at the Dive-In
Tonight's Feature - Space Battles IV: Fresh Dreams

Students, townies, and teachers alike could cuddle up on a raft or a noodle in the heated, Olympic-sized pool or the bubbly jacuzzi and watch Duke and Hanno save Princess Leanna from the evil Dark Helmet.

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

Across the town, the school, and the dorms, fliers had been put up to inform everyone of a town meeting taking place tonight (with a bold, capitalized note at the bottom warning everyone to be careful getting to the town hall). Zoe waited for as many people as possible to arrive and get settled before she got up and addressed the crowd.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice tonight," she said. "We wanted to get everyone together to share some new information that was found today. Our researchers have found some possible evidence concerning the angels, and some of the people who have gone missing." She picked up the notes she'd been given, and read what the researchers had found.

"As much as I don't want to do this, I need to ask for volunteers," she continued. "We need people to go and get this information, or to talk to these folks, so we can figure out how to stop the angels, and get everyone back. I won't turn away students who want to help, but you're going to be sent with adults to make sure all of you come back in one piece. If you want to stay here, that's perfectly fine. I want to remind all of you that there are safehouses being set up throughout town, to make sure that no one has to be alone right now. Travel in numbers, and always look around you. If you do that, you'll stay safe. I'll be here to answer any questions, and to take the names of those who want to volunteer. The floor is open for anyone who has something else they'd like to say."

[OCD is up! If you're on one of the away teams, you can handwave coming to the meeting and volunteering, if you want.]

Rodney wasn't hiding.

Really.

The fact that he was supposed to pick up the twins from John tonight had totally slipped his mind. After he had gotten caught up in his math homework, that is.

Rodney loved calculus. And coffee. He was quite content to stay there all night.

Anders was as of yet unaware of any new weirdness going on in Fandom, which wasn't exactly news for a variety of reasons. For one, well, he was usually kind of oblivious to these things, and for two, he'd only just gotten back to the island after a very nice day away.

Humming something that vaguely approximated Bach's Goldberg Variations to himself, he got the bar cleaned up, the band taped back together, and Tino in the back of the head with a blown drinking straw wrapper, then opened up.

No weirdness was going to ruin his mood, dammit. Because there wasn't any. Right?

The memorial service was held on the flat hilltop overlooking the ocean, and at its edge rested an old-fashioned wooden boat, worn and weathered. There were chairs for those still too weak to stand and four torches, burning steadily, set in the ground at the four cardinal points. The day was bright and clear, a light breeze blowing out to sea, but despite that, the torches never flickered.

Karal, dressed in formal robes of black and gold, stood in front of the boat, waiting patiently while people arrived.

When everyone had settled, he stepped forward and began to speak. )

[ooc: Word of the service was handwavily passed by word of mouth, and by way of announcement and on the radio. Please wait for OCD is up!]

Katara was almost completely unconscious in a cot but the Town Hall's makeshift hospital was ticking over like a well-oiled machine.  Even as volunteers and doctors grew more and more tired, their dedication still won out as each patient was tended to carefully.

[OOC:  And this is the last hospilinic post!  The researchers are very close to a cure which will be administered over the course of the evening (IG and OOC).  Please do be sure to ping in your sickies so they can get cured!]

Wilson had gotten a briefing from Troy before coming in today and had already shut down his OMGWTFPlllllaaaggggguuuuueee response in favor of being able to actually function as a doctor.

Slipping a mask over his mouth almost immediately, he grabbed up charts and began to walk through the cots, getting an update on everyone's status. Next up would be making sure the volunteers were organized and that people who were sitting bedside vigil were taking care of themselves and not starting to show symptoms

Sam was dressed for a run around the island, too used to the every day workouts to give it up just because she was back where the terrain was familiar and occasionally full of teal deer.

But first, some math, a brownie, and a huge cup of coffee. Or two.

[ooc: Sam's here, but it's also open for other people who don't want to talk to her.]

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

[OOC:  Chaperones and Security please ping in as soon as possible.  The second post will be going up in about five hours (or when browsers start to break) but this post is very SP friendly.  PLEASE wait for the OCD is UP and POST IS OPEN]

After a rather unsuccessful trip to the library, Rodney, who didn't know he was Rodney, gave up on trying to fix things for the moment and went in search of a snack. Wandering around the town, he was delighted to find a bakery. Looked like things were finally taking a turn for the better.

Looking at the variety of pies available, his eyes were caught by the lemon meringue. It was strangely tempting. He ordered a rather big slice and a large cup of coffee.

As he settled himself at a table, he became somewhat enthralled by the aroma of his coffee and he spent a few moments just savoring it.

[Rodney is here for something specific, but J,GOB is open for all the needs of your sweet tooths.]

Rodney was in need of better coffee than he could get in the dorms so, with his laptop packed up and ready to go, he made his way into town and to The Perk. He ordered the largest possible mug of French Roast that was available and started drinking it right there at the counter. He moaned embarrassingly loudly at the first taste.

Collecting his coffee and computer (and really, what more did he need in life? Aside from food, of course. Can't forget food.), Rodney selected an empty table and set himself up to get some work done. Once he was settled, he took another large drink and began typing determinedly.

[ooc: Rodney might be irritable at any interruptions of his work, but he is in a public place after all. Bother him at your own risk. The Perk is open for all your coffee needs.]

GOB was behind the bar and going about his work in a completely conventional and not at all moderately bizarre way.

This was boring.

But he just didn't have it in him to make Tino put up a sign or anything tonight. For shame.

"I'm glad you could re-schedule," Charlie said, holding the door for Rodney as they entered Fast Eddie's. "I forgot to ask when play rehearsals would be, so, yeah. Glad I didn't have to cut out of the first one early. Do you want to get something to eat before we start playing?"

There was a sign posted at the front door:

G.O.B. Bluth Presents:
The Third Annual
Three Minute Dates @ Caritas

hosted by A Matchmaker Named G.O.B.

However, the sign fell over because GOB had bought really cheap sign-making materials. But if people didn't know about the event, that wouldn't necessarily stop GOB from roping them in.

On the stage at precisely 5:55 PM, the familiar opening of "The Final Countdown" blared and GOB strutted out onto the stage to set the mood. With illusions. There was the standard prancing and hankies and brandishing of knives, and it ended after a couple minutes with GOB wheeling a heart-shaped ring of fire out onto stage and releasing a flock of doves to fly through it.

After Tino got the resulting minor fire under control, GOB stepped up to the microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, it doesn't matter who you are. If you're a dateless wonder or a complete slut, this night is for you. You'll get to meet several people of some gender and maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to convince them to come home with you. And that, my friends, is the magic--" a large blast of smoke went off behind GOB and a banner that looked much like the sign up from - aside from the fact that the banner had yet to fall apart - dropped down behind GOB, "-- of Three Minute Dates at Caritas. My name is GOB Bluth and I'll be your host."

"When I call your name and the name of someone else, you will find each other, look longingly into each others' eyes, and figure out whether or not you give a damn about whatever they're talking about. If you do, remember that for later because you'll have to do the same thing four more times and then it's a battle of trying to figure out who you want to do more! And if everything goes!"

"Oh, and we had way too many guys again so enjoy your gay dates. Oh, and Round 4 is the gay round so everyone have fun, especially the ladies!"

[OOC: Three minutes equals ten comments for our purposes. That's five comments per person. Try your very best to get it wrapped up in that time. You do NOT have to do these in chronological order. Do them as people are available. Just try not to Joss yourself.

Remember, if you slap someone, you will be teleported out of the club and will have to make your way back.

If you can't get through all of your dates today, you can slowplay, don't worry!

Any necessary announcements will be made up here.

OCD IS UP! Thanks and have fun!]

The Park was rather busy this afternoon. Aside from a large picnic table littered with all sorts of delicious treats that passers-by were welcome to help themselves to, several activities were set up.

There were jello wrestling and custard wrestling arenas (really large inflatable wading pools), potato sacks for a potato sack race, a few frisbees and balls to throw around and a table set up for a hot dog eating competition.

All welcome!

[ETA: Weather is cloudy. No rain!]

Anyone coming down to the beach to enjoy the holiday would find that it's been prepared for the perfect holiday celebration. There's chairs and umbrellas, sand and water toys, food, music, and volleyball nets. Wood has been stacked for a bonfire once the sun goes down and a sign is posted advertising fireworks at 10:00 p.m.

Come celebrate the Fourth of July!
