K-Mart was humming cheerfully as she bustled around the store, fixing displays and putting away returns and doing all the other random little tasks her job required. Once that was done she settled down, still humming, behind the counter and flipped open a magazine.

And then remembered the sign she'd made. She bounced up, put the sign in the window, and sat back down.

DISCOUNT DAY!
Half off if it's used in an Olympic event!

Sorry, Sean, she made an executive decision here.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was sitting behind a counter, reading a a magazine and occasionally glancing up and looking around to keep an eye on customers. It was a slow day, though, so there weren't too many people.

This meant that she'd read the same magazine about four times and rearranged a display twice. But at least she was doing something.

Sean would probably appreciate the relative lack of rearranging things.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was busy setting up a couple of new displays and taking down a couple of old ones. Of course they had to all fall at the same damn time, didn't they?

Whatever. At least it kept her busy.

And busy meant she wasn't worrying about whatever was going on with her boss's family.

She'd be at the displays all day, at the rate they were going, though.

[OCD-free today because I'm too damn hot to put it up.]

K-Mart was worried. Sean had been in a mood the past day or so at work; today, he'd come in and beelined for his office, shutting the door as soon as he got in. That was strange -- he usually left the door open when he was in, even if he was making calls.

But when she'd tried to check on him, knocking lightly at the door, he hadn't answered. She'd heard his voice in the office, talking to someone on the phone, so she hadn't pushed.

At the moment, she was sitting at the register, drumming her fingers idly against the counter.

[OCD-free today!]
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
For once, K-Mart had pretty much nothing to do at the shop, so she was attempting to be actually productive in terms of figuring out what she was doing with the rest of her life, since she wasn't doing the college thing. She'd figured out it just wasn't for her. But aside from that? She'd come up with precisely nothing.

Which would be why she was playing games on her laptop behind one of the counters instead of looking properly attentive. It wasn't like Sean would yell at her. He'd just give her that disappointed face that he was so good at making. But she'd deal with that if it came.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was busy rearranging a display -- that she was actually supposed to be rearranging this time. Sean had left orders for her to rearrange the display and set up another, which she was happy for because it gave her something to actually do instead of coming up with creative things to do on her own.

Her creativity? Was never a good thing.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart couldn't believe graduation was coming up so soon. Leaving Fandom after so long there was going to suck.

So she'd solved the problem by conning Sean to let her work for him for the summer. That done, she settled behind a counter with a magazine. Since she'd just conned him into something, she figured the least she could do was refrain from rearranging his merchandise for once.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
It was supposed to be one of Sean's days to open the shop, but K-Mart had a feeling he and Annja wouldn't be leaving each other alone for a while, and so she was puttering around the store and compulsively cleaning up even though there really wasn't much to clean up at the moment.

Look, she had to keep busy somehow, okay? If she didn't, then she'd start thinking, and thinking about what'd just happened to her would not be pretty.

Sean probably wasn't going to recognize the inside of his shop next time he came in.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was being lazy at work, which really just meant sitting behind one of the registers with her laptop and playing games.

Because there were only so many times you could move things around on Sean before he started looking like he wanted to kick you, and she'd already hit that. Therefore, entirely too much time playing Farmville it was!

Although the weekend was almost over, the esteemed alumni of Fandom High were not getting away without one last get-together. The park had been deemed too cold for the event, so the community center had been set up again with tasteful blue and yellow streamers and real flowers on the tables, although there might have been a few paper flowers still lying around from last night too.

There was plenty of food just waiting to be eaten, and if someone asked nicely, they might be able to acquire a drink or two as well. It was five o'clock somewhere.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
Now that the new semester had started, K-Mart was insanely grateful that both her classes were on one day. It meant that she had buttloads of free time. Which was good, because now she had to get cheerleading rolling.

That would explain the notebook in front of her on the counter. She was scribbling down ideas and... really not concentrating on her job.

Oops.
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was at work.

She was not actually working, however. She was mostly just wandering the store and trying to decide if there was anything she could claim store use on and take to the sleepover.

This was how you'd find her if you came in.

[OCD-free!]
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart wasn't productive this week. No, this week she was behind a counter, contemplating a visit home. It was true what she'd said to Quinn, that she was from a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but it was still home and she hadn't been there since coming to Fandom.

But that had kind of been the whole idea of it.

Didn't mean she wasn't contemplating a trip anyway, though.

Well, contemplating in between the occasional getting up to help a customer.

[OCD-free!]
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart's mission of the day? Organizing Sean's office.

This would not bode well for him the next time he came in.

Since she did have to actually, you know, watch the store and all that, she had the door open and was sitting in the doorway, wheeling from there back into the office and back out every few minutes or so to keep an eye on things.

It was really just an excuse to play with the chair, but ssh.

[Flying OCD-free today!]
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
Given the fact that his father was around, K-Mart had handwavily called Sean and told him to keep his ass home, that she'd cover work for him today. Sean, not being an idiot, had promptly agreed.

Which meant that the shop had opened a little late, as K-Mart had class on Fridays.

So now she was sitting behind the counter, doing her best to look productive.

It was a slow day for K-Mart, which meant that in addition to doing her regular job-type things, she was also sitting behind the counter with a notebook, trying to come up with ideas for cheerleading for the next school year.

This was proving harder than she'd thought it would be. She'd have to call Savannah soon, or at least hit up a couple of the graduated seniors from the squad before they left.

Why was the summer going by so fast? That wasn't allowed!
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
K-Mart was definitely on her own today; Sean occasionally wandered in to see how things were going, but today he was busy unpacking, which meant K-Mart would be by her lonesome all day.

This was... Not that different from the usual, aside from the fact that she definitely wouldn't get caught rearranging things today. Which, of course, was why she wasn't rearranging everything.

Instead, she was puttering around the store with a cart, picking up everything that was someplace it didn't go. Yay, cleaning!

[OCD-free!]

It was a slow, boring day for K-Mart. Which would probably be why she was playing a rousing game of "rearrange the store for no good reason". Sean would probably flip when he found out, but oh well. That was a worry for tomorrow... and for Lindsay to deal with.

Crap.

Oh, well, she'd just leave Lindsay a handwavy note so she knew what she was coming in to.

And the Now Hiring! sign was in the window for another day.

[Flying OCD free today!]
[identity profile] likethestore.livejournal.com
It was a lazy, laid back day for K-Mart. She had her laptop with her, set up behind one of the registers, and was poking away at it whenever there weren't customers.

Her activities? That damn cafe game. Well, that and writing an e-mail to Savannah and Johnny.

The Now Hiring! sign was still up in the window.
[identity profile] mathletenomore.livejournal.com
Lindsay was practically forced to get a job. When her dad found out there was a sporting goods store in town, he told her to try to get hired. So she did. Now, she was sitting behind the counter, bored. Well she was until a flower crept from the register, singing a cheerful, uplifting song. "Tomorrow" in this case.

"Seriously?" she muttered, trying not to bang her head against the counter.

At least her first day would be memorable.

Tonight, Robin was in a wonderful mood. Whether that was because it was playoff season, or because the weather was nice enough for her to wear cute skirts, or because of the shipment of maple-flavored vodka that the bar had received was anyone's guess.

(It was the vodka, in this case. The playoffs were just depressing.)

The portal to other realities was still there this evening. However the purpose of the portal has now changed.

Instead of bringing children to the island, it was now ready to bring them home to the realities where they belonged.

You can love or hate the portal for this but in either case it's time for the kids to go home.

[Up early for SP and Timezoney goodness! It's your goodbye post to send the kids home. I've got my kleenex ready so have at it!]
[identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah and K-Mart had decided that taking the kidlets outside for awhile would be a very good idea.

They gathered up everyone and headed out to the beach. The way the girls thought, the beach would give plenty of room for running and playing...

...and maybe Storm and Alice-Claire would burn off some of that energy that they seemed to have an unending supply of.

"Can we call Daddy?" Storm demanded.

"In a little bit," Savannah promised. "He's probably not awake yet."

Unlike Savannah and K-Mart, who had been awake since four a.m. Johnny should be very grateful that Savannah loved him too much to wake him up at that ungodly hour.

"Storm, no magic in the water!"

She doubted that either of the girls would listen to her on that. She sighed and looked at LJ. "LJ?"

He grinned, already moving after the two girls. "Don't worry, Aunt Savannah. I'll keep an eye on my sisters."

Savannah and K-Mart collapsed on the sand after spreading out towels and blankets. It was probably going to be a very long day.

Just on the other side of the Causeway, the weather was cool, but in Fandom, a beautiful, warm nearly-summer evening welcomed Fandom's seniors and juniors to their Prom.

A large tent open on one side had been erected in the center of the park. Garlands of small white lights entwined with greenery decorated the edges and roof of the tent, while two of the canvas sides were covered in large pictures of cherry blossoms and the middle had a wall-sized painting of a masquerade. Under the canopy were clusters of little chairs and tables along with the table of food and punch bowl.

Beyond the tent's open wall, a dance floor had been set up on the grass under the conveniently flowering trees. More fairy lights had been wound through the tree branches leaving the area softly lit in most areas. Torches were placed in a few clusters around the dance floor, making flickering areas of brighter light for people to congregate.

A photographer waited for his clients just beyond the dance floor with several backdrops of flowers or masquerades or, oddly, a lemur family to choose from.

The voting box for Prom King and Queen stood right at the entrance to the dance for those last-minute votes.

And, of course for Fandom's Masquerade, a table of elaborately decorated (or some more simple ones) waited for their new owners to simply slip them on and join the revelry.

[OOC: Weather modded with permission. The Prom is open to juniors, seniors, and their dates and definitely open to slowplay. Another post will be going up later this evening set for 10pm-midnight. Prom voting is open until 4pm EDST Please to be waiting for the OCD IS UP! (No thanks to LJ)]

It was still a good day to torment guests and locals alike and there was still plenty of food (courtesy of your Fandom High StuCO) in the Park, welcoming visitors to Fandom Island.

The registration desk was still open and the banner waved in the comfortable breeze announcing the event of the day.

Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2009!

The last time Ben was at Three Minute Dates, he was one of the daters. Now he was the host. He was pretty sure this counted as a promotion somehow.

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Ben Reilly
Reject people and make it snappy!

When the event was just about ready to start, Ben took the stage. "Okay, everyone! Let's go over the rules quickly. We'll start in a minute when I read a pair of names. That pair finds each other, makes with the chit chat, and then after three minutes you'll hear this sound."

A zombie hit a gong. With his head. Whatever works... "And when you hear that, we'll move onto the next round and I'll read more names. We'll do this five times and then we'll be done. Oh, and don't forget, violence isn't allowed here but drink throwing is both possible and hilarious."

[OOC: Three minutes = ten comments total, five per person. You don't need to do your threads chronologically, but try not to Joss yourself.

Please wait for epic OCD! Epic OCD is up! And if you saw me make or admit to a PHENOMINALLY egregious mistake in my planning, I've got cookies on the table and you didn't see anything. Got that?]

As people arrived today, they might notice that the rules were displayed a bit more prominently than usual. The previous slap-dash handwritten sign had been replaced with something a bit more official looking, and with much larger font.

Ghanima wasn't letting anyone else get away with ignoring them, no, which was probably evident from the annoyed expression on her face as she surveyed the room

"Welcome back," Tyler supplied. He looked equally annoyed. "If any of you have recently suffered life-threatening injuries -- and don't get cute about parsing that -- sit down. Drink a soda. Don't fight. And I am disgusted that I even have to say that, but, after last week, I'm not taking chances."

"It doesn't even have to be life threatening," Ghanima injected smoothly. Ever the diplomat, even when it was at the point of her knife. Verbal or otherwise. "Even a sprained ankle is plenty of reason to sit it out today, or just join those of us in the learner's area. There is no shame in respecting your body and not risking permanent handicap."

"Now, you and you. You two. Tyler?"

He cast a gimlet eye over the group. "Her, him, and ... oh. Those two. I never call them."

Clapping his hands once, he added, "Let's go."

While the students had been completing their last finals, an NPC staff had been hard at work converting one of the empty warehouses into the site of tonight's dance. When the guests arrived this evening, they'd be greeted by a long yellow carpet, leading up to the open glass doors of the warehouse.

Once inside, they would find the space brightly decorated to celebrate the summer season. Gold drapes covered the walls, splashed liberally with glitter to make them sparkle in the low lights of the warehouse. Flowers were placed here and there, not overwhelming but definitely noticeable and fragrant. Images of beaches, palm trees, sunsets, sunrises, hammocks, and other various summer images were being projected on the walls randomly.

A long table consisting of food and drinks was along one wall, providing plenty of sustenance for everyone for their long night of fun. Dark corners could be found here and there, of course. There was music playing and a disco balls projecting light onto the dance floor.

It was time for the summer dance.

Despite having to use magic or whatever to get rid of a horrible hangover yesterday, Chuck still wanted to get drunk. So much that he was willing to risk Ms. Scherbatsky's wrath in order to do so. Luckily for him it looked like she was taking the day off. Which meant Chuck had free reign over the bar mwahahahaha.

Huh. Free reign wasn't fun when you only had Tino to boss around. So after a couple of minutes he left a message in order to entertain himself.

After hanging up the phone Chuck poured himself a scotch and started digging into the cherries.

Penelope knew there was to be a birthday party here this evening so when she came into work, she immediately started helping Tino wash and dry glasses, and wiped down the bar top so everything looked clean and shiny.

The band was playing decent music so that was cool, and she helped herself to a beer while she continued making things neat.

Caritas is open!

It was the karaoke contest at the bar again and Marshall made sure everything was extra clean for the influx of people coming in.

And he had leftover pie! Mmm. Today was a good day.

Waking up this morning to kids, wasn't as surprising as one might think. Finding out he had a kid with Chris, was shocking. Still, after a handwavey phone call to Chris and Summer, asking them to meet up at the beach, he was pretty calm as he watched his kids play. It wasn't a perfect day, weather wise, but it would do. Keeping the kids busy and out of trouble was his main objective.

[For the large brood mainly, but totally open for other kids and parents!]
[identity profile] funnyways.livejournal.com
Mina Harker wasn't particularly fond of children. However, given the alternatives, it seemed a great idea to put them through a bit of culture. Her equal partner in all of this was, of course, the most proper lady she knew of in town: Miss Elizabeth Bennet.

Together, they organized the tables (with extra tiny chairs not just for the children, but if any of the young ones had brought along Mr. Bear to enjoy the event), the tea (of all sorts), and the assorted other bits (scones, crumpets, jam, little cucumber sandwiches and the like).

They also had some rather cheap (they were messy child types, so it made sense not to make them too extravagant) gloves for the little girls, so that they could enjoy the tea properly.

If anyone acted up too much, well, there was Mina Harker on the premises.

[ooc: Up early for Slowplay and wacky justice. Ms. Bennet's involvement with player permission. Hold up for OCD. Open for your tea needs!]

Marion had spent most of the afternoon decorating the bar with Valentine's decorations she handwavily got from Turtle & Canary. The whole red and pink theme was kind of making her gag but it was Valentine's Day and people were here to find love or whatever.

Marion hoped she was getting a bonus for this or something

After she had set all the decorations and tables up, she put out a nice sign:

Caritas Presents
THREE MINUTE DATES

Hosted by Marion Ravenwood
Reject people real fast

When everyone arrived, Marion got on stage and grabbed the mic. "Okay everyone, this is how this is gonna work. I call your name and someone else's. You get together. You guys talk for three minutes, get to know each other and then you'll hear this," Marion put a whistle into her mouth and blew. "Then I call your name with someone else's and then you switch. Then you do the same thing again. Five times total. Questions? No? Good!"

Then she blew the whistle for fun.

[3 minutes = 10 comments, 5 for each of you. You can do these out of order but try not to Joss yourselves. Up early for great SP justice]
