Teyla couldn't help but look at the sky today, even after she'd gotten settled in the store. With the weather getting colder, she knew it would only be a matter of time before the first snow came, and to say that she was looking forward to it would be an understatement. Even as she cleaned and made sure the CDs were organized, her attention was still focused outside.

Teyla had some soft music going in the store today, wanting an atmosphere that was a little more light and peaceful than loud. Throughout the day, she peeked out the windows, to see if she could spot any of the squirrels going by. It was possible she was warming up to their presence.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
When Teyla spotted the donkeys and elephants outside the shop, she was perfectly content to leave them alone, aside from staring at their strange coloring. But when they started to fight, she quickly got between them, and made them stay on separate sides of the door. It was nice to know that the way animals seemed to pay attention to her could be useful sometimes.

The days were getting colder, and while that meant Teyla couldn't keep the door to the store open anymore to let the music out, it did mean the weather was nicer, and she couldn't really complain about that. Today's music was fast-paced, to match the cleaning spree Teyla was going on. It was just one of those kinds of days.

[OCD-free as usual!]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
The time before Parents Weekend was always difficult for Teyla, knowing that it was highly unlikely anyone would be coming for her. To try to improve her mood, she had very upbeat music going in the store, and was doodling at the counter.

[OCD-free because I have caught the plague, ugh.]

When Teyla came in for work in the morning, she spent a little more time than usual looking for the right music to play in the store. At first, she settled on what looked like a very nice CD - the cover showed a beautiful snow covered tree bedecked with lights and shiny wrapped packages underneath it - but after listening to the music for a few minutes, it just didn't feel appropriate for the time of year, so Teyla put the disc back, and chose something from the pop music section instead.

Teyla greatly preferred it when the weather was mild, so she had the door to the store open again to bring in fresh air as she went around and made sure everything was in its proper place. Today's music was a little strange but Teyla was finding it very entertaining.

[Open and OCD-free!]

Teyla was very grateful that the latest island madness had passed with everyone still relatively in tact. The sensation of the Wraith presence had gone away, leaving her tired but feeling much safer. Still, the music playing in the store was more quiet and subdued than what Teyla usually went with. She just wasn't in the mood for peppy songs today.

[OCD free, la la la.]

Mayor Summers and Principal Winchester stood on the platform, the former crossing his arms and scowling somewhat at the back of the room. When he got up to the stand, though, that wore off.

"Welcome," he said, once everyone had entered, "I'd rather have had my first town meeting on more of an up note, but that's not in the cards. You might have noticed the arrival of another island off our shores. They aren't friendlies. Stay away from the island to the best of your ability. Don't pick fights unless you have to." He scraped his throat. "They are currently trying to hold us hostage. We're not going to let that happen."

He nodded at Zoe. "Principal Winchester?"

Zoe was trying to keep her expression neutral, in the hope that if she stayed calm, everyone else would as well. "The inhabitants of the other island want this one as their own, and their leaders have come up with a...plan of sorts for deciding who gets to stay. It's a tournament, us versus them, with chosen fighters from each side."

"After careful consideration," she said, glancing at Cable before looking back to the crowd, "we have decided that agreeing to their request is the best course of action."

"You'll find the list of chosen fighters at the door," Cable continued, fluidly, his face set as impassive as it got-- which was pretty much totally. "But have faith-- no matter how this tournament goes, they're not going to take this island, and you'll hear from us again soon enough."

The weather was lovely, so Teyla had the door to the shop open to let the music play out onto the street while she dusted and checked the CDs to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be.

Teyla went back to working on trying to come up with a list of her favorite pieces of Earth music while she was in the store today. She was finding that the list was getting surprisingly long as she went through the alphabet, but she wanted it to be complete.

[OCD-free because hi, I am so very late.]

While Teyla was still not a fan of coffee, she had found that the tea at The Perk was quite suitable to her taste. She had no classes today, and was trying to decide how she wanted to spend her day, when a skunk wobbled up to her and tried to attach itself to her leg. Amidst all the slurring and clinging, she would have sworn it was telling her she was shiny, and she was just about to shake him off of her when a second skunk approached and pulled the first one away, claiming he'd seen Teyla first.

As the skunks began to fight with each other, Teyla watched and wondered if there was something about her that only attracted small, furry animals.

For once, Teyla actually had a mission when she went to open the store today. After being reminded of how many people were unfamiliar with this world, or even this galaxy, Teyla began going through the music she'd listened to over the last few months, and tried to come up with a variety to recommend, to represent what music here was all about. If she left a few genres out, well, she didn't think anyone would mind in the end.

Teyla was in a fairly good mood today, mainly because her path to work was unhindered for once, and when she came into the store, nothing was wrong. She put on a mix of pleasing, poppy music, and set about making sure the shelves were clean and organized.

Teyla was definitely not happy about having to leave the comfort of the cabin to go to work, but she wasn't going to let the fog keep her from her duty. She made her way inside carefully, making sure that all the lights were on as soon as she could get to them. Today's music was a mix of the peppiest music she'd found in her time on this world, if only to try to make herself and anyone else who came in feel better.

One of the perks to being a quiet, stoic person was that if Teyla was affected by speaking any differently than usual today, she didn't know it yet. With how close she was to reaching her limit on being able to deal with the weirdness of the town, this was probably a good thing.

[Open! OCD free because I am teh laaaazy today.]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was wary as she went to open the store, concerned about what she might find hiding on the shelves this week. Everything appeared to be in order when she went inside, but that didn't stop her from choosing soft music for the day's entertainment as she listened and kept her eyes open for anything out of the ordinary.

Teyla had been very pleased to discover that the faucets had gone back to producing water, so she could start her day with a good cup of tea. She hoped that the madness that had seemingly taken over had ended for a little while. Then she went to open the shop, and found the lemons. Everywhere.

With a sign, Teyla began to gather everything up, and let her thoughts turn to what she could cook with lemons instead.

[Open! OCD-free today because I am teh lazy.]

When Teyla went to open the store, she was surprised to find the door already slightly cracked, and music coming from within. She was mentally preparing to encounter someone trying to rob the place when she pushed the door open all the way and found...rats. Singing rats.

Some of them scampered out as soon as they saw her, but a few continued to run between the shelves, singing with each other about being wandering minstrels.

"Let me know if I can help you find anything?" Teyla said uncertainly. She still felt woefully unprepared for things like this.

When you had money and were creative you could make parties happen anywhere. Blair had both money and creativity in spades, and thus her party was born.

It was an Antarctic theme so there was ice aplenty. Blocks of it were used to make tables and chairs (with blankets and cushions on them - Blair would suffer for fabulousness but there was no reason to willingly give yourself frostbite). Slabs of ice made up the bar and the tables for food. Carefully placed lights helped to show off what was available. All in all the end effect was something not unlike this. The only thing that wasn't as icy was the floor, because much though Blair would find it amusing to watch people fall down, it ran the risk of her pretty decorations being destroyed.

There was dance music playing and a space for dancing if anyone was inclined. There were plenty of extra blankets for anyone who hadn't dressed warmly enough to avoid a chill, or just wanted an excuse to cuddle. There were also tables set up in booth-like formations for those who wanted to sit and chat without being in the middle of the flow. One table had its own bar, extra thick and comfy pillows on the chairs, and luxurious blankets to help stay warm. No prize for guessing that this was the table Blair had claimed.

Teyla was putting her focus on cleaning the store today from top to bottom. It kept her mind off of the weekend, off of people she shouldn't have been thinking about, and away from watching out for squirrels.

[OCD-free today la la la.]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was in a very good mood - being far from the volcano had a way of doing that - and she did her best to choose upbeat music that matched her current feelings. It didn't matter to her that most of it was in languages she didn't know. She was going on the assumption that none of the lyrics were inappropriate.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla couldn't tell if the odd smell was still present, or if she was just imagining it, but either way, she had the door closed, and was using cleaning the shelves as a chance to replace the odor with something more pleasant inside the store.

Today's music was salsa, thanks to class yesterday, but it wasn't playing as loud as usual. Teyla was on the lookout for squirrels, and she wanted to be able to hear them coming if she could.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was in a cleaning mood when she came into the store, and set about organizing all the CDs she could reach.

Today's music was something called a trance mix that she was finding very well in tune with her mood.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
After looking around and finding nothing that needed immediate cleaning, Teyla settled herself in with a book on France. She figured it couldn't hurt to learn about where they were currently located, in case she decided to be brave enough to venture off of the island.

Today's music was a CD she'd found by the counter and discovered was actually very good. It was a nice surprise to start the day.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was pleased to see that the sign for hiring new people was gone - she assumed that meant someone new had been hired, and not that Chad had stopped looking. She spent most of the day going through the CDs and looking for ones that were out of place, and she had to admit, she missed the distractions the kittens had provided.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla couldn't seem to stop looking out the front window of the store to admire the new view everyone had. This was one time that she didn't mind the strangeness of things, and in some small way, Teyla took that as a sign that maybe she was getting used to being here. It was a less frightening thought that it would have been weeks ago.

[No OCD today!]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was still feeling a little distracted from the weekend, and the idea that she could have a child with a boy she hardly knew. She couldn't decide if that was a sign that she should get to know him better, or stay as far away from him as possible.

Today's music was a salsa mix - loud, fast, and more distracting than everything else.

It was a nice enough day that Lucas and Jamie had gotten yet another set of double scoops and decided to walk through the park.

"Uncle Luke, can I feed the ducks my cone?" Jamie asked, face messy with chocolate, as they walked toward the lake.

Lucas didn't see any harm in stopping. "Sure thing, kiddo." He hadn't heard anything harmful about the ducks, and that was saying something in Fandom.

Not far from where the Skeleton Tea had been held earlier in the day, there was a tent that had been erected, with thiny, gauzy material and bone-like poles. Not dirty. The lights were soft as the evening grew darker, casting a welcoming, yet vaguely spooky illumination on the proceedings.

The proceedings of PROM.

One side of the tent was open, backing against a grove of trees; there were a few lights among them, but for the most part they offered shadowy nooks for anyone who wished to be a bit apart from the main action. The rest of the tent was enclosed, save for the entrance, and the same skeletons who'd worked the Tea earlier were at the refreshments table, ready and willing to serve any students or chaperones who approached. At one end of the table was the ballot box for prom court voting.

The music was just getting started, and the dance floor was yet to fill up, but regardless, Fandom High Prom 2008 was underway!

[Wait for OCD is up! Have fun, everyone!]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was not as bothered by the lack of caffeine as others, since she still hadn't tried coffee not that she was nervous about running into squirrels or anything. She did notice that the tea she had each morning didn't have its usual kick though, but she was attributing that to nervousness about not being entirely certain how to study for her finals. Being in the shop, cleaning things up, and playing with the kittens was doing a lot to help.

[OCD freeeee!]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla didn't have much to do today, in terms of homework and other such things, which meant the kitties got extra attention while she cleaned things up in the store.

As far as she could tell, there was nothing at all strange about today. Poor clueless Teyla.

[We're flying OCD-free today. Look out!]
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was still in a good mood from the party last night, even with a stack of assignments to work on for her classes. Today's music was some very peppy pop music, which, while it wasn't typically Teyla's favorite thing to listen to, was very addictive.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla still had some of the bubble wrap John had given her, so she brought it with her to the store to see if the kittens liked it as much as she did. If nothing else, it was amusing to watch them play with it and try to figure out why it kept making noise when they touched it.

Today's music was a pop dance mix. If the squirrels someone looked in at the right time, they might catch Teyla dancing.

Across the town, the school, and the dorms, fliers had been put up to inform everyone of a town meeting taking place tonight (with a bold, capitalized note at the bottom warning everyone to be careful getting to the town hall). Zoe waited for as many people as possible to arrive and get settled before she got up and addressed the crowd.

"Thank you all for coming on such short notice tonight," she said. "We wanted to get everyone together to share some new information that was found today. Our researchers have found some possible evidence concerning the angels, and some of the people who have gone missing." She picked up the notes she'd been given, and read what the researchers had found.

"As much as I don't want to do this, I need to ask for volunteers," she continued. "We need people to go and get this information, or to talk to these folks, so we can figure out how to stop the angels, and get everyone back. I won't turn away students who want to help, but you're going to be sent with adults to make sure all of you come back in one piece. If you want to stay here, that's perfectly fine. I want to remind all of you that there are safehouses being set up throughout town, to make sure that no one has to be alone right now. Travel in numbers, and always look around you. If you do that, you'll stay safe. I'll be here to answer any questions, and to take the names of those who want to volunteer. The floor is open for anyone who has something else they'd like to say."

[OCD is up! If you're on one of the away teams, you can handwave coming to the meeting and volunteering, if you want.]

Work was the last thing on Teyla's mind as she headed to the store today. Romeo had left their room without a word yesterday morning, and she hadn't seen him since. Although they didn't always see each other a lot, it was strange to not encounter him at all. She was fairly sure that she hadn't done anything to anger him, and wished that she could search him out today to make certain that he was all right.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was used to quick changes in the weather, but then, she was also used to the weather being normal. She hadn't realized that there was anything strange about the day's rainfall until she went outside and discovered that the rain was...screaming. Even after she made it into the store, she found herself peering outside, watching the little rain creatures melt.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was still getting used to the idea of midterms, and how they were causing the other students to worry. She was not worried, but that didn't keep her from studying anyway, while taking healthy breaks to clean around the store.

Today's music: Salsa! It was fun to dance to while she cleaned.
[identity profile] canadianpopstar.livejournal.com
Robin still kind of had no idea how she'd wound up doing this, but it was funny and she could laugh and drink and just enjoy her post-Valentine's glow behind the bar while everyone else suffered.

And in the meanwhile, she set out a pretty little sign.

Three Minute Dates @ Caritas
Hosted by Robin Scherbatsky
Presented by loneliness and desperation*
* beer goggles recommended/necessary in some cases

That done, she wandered by to the stage to take the mic. "So, hi. You know how sometimes you're at a bar, and you just don't know how to talk to those pretty people you're eyeing? Or, you know, you want to know what the deal is with that creepy guy in the corner who won't stop staring? Well, tonight, we're taking all that guesswork out of it! Welcome to Three Minute Dates! I'm your hostess and deeply amused bartender, Robin Scherbatsky."

"So here's how it goes -- when I call your name plus someone else's, it'll be time for you to find that other person and either lemon law them or find your way to true love...slash a good one night stand! Or a bad one. It's part of the fun! And then lather, rinse and repeat for four more times, because yes, boys and girls, you're doing this five times."

[OOC: Three minutes equals ten comments for our purposes. That's five comments per person. Try your very best to get it wrapped up in that time. You do NOT have to do these in chronological order. Do them as people are available. Just try not to Joss yourself.

Remember, if you're violent, you'll be teleported out of the club and will have to make your way back. If you can't get through all of your dates today, you can sp, don't worry!

Teyla had a special treat for the kittens today, in the form of a catnip mouse that they happily started fighting over as soon as she set it down. Once she'd made sure that there wasn't cleaning to be done, she sat down with a piece of paper, making herself a list of all the reasons she should or should not go to the upcoming dance. She was curious about which side would be longer.

Today's music was classical. It helped keep her calm and Zen-like.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla had brought her homework with her to the store today, and had a feeling she'd be spending most of the day attempting to keep the kittens off of her notes. If nothing else, she'd probably get to practice conflict management on them, when they started fighting over spare CDs.

Today's music: Something marked C-pop. It was quite entertaining to listen to.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
When Teyla came in for work, the first thing she noticed was the wall mural, and after a very tentative touch, she decided that rather than end up covered in whatever shiny substance was on the mural, she should focus her attention on keeping the kittens happy. They seemed to want to teach her a game involving some CDs, and she was ready to learn.

Today's music: A mix that was labeled Chick Rock. She wasn't quite sure what that meant, but the songs were fun to listen to.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
It was impossible for Teyla to miss the crates of CDs still scattered around the store when she came in. She hadn't managed to get exposed to Gilbert and Sullivan yet, so she decided it would be best to leave today's musical choice to chance, and blindly picked up the first CD she could grab.

Anyone coming in would find H.M.S. Pinafore on, while Teyla carefully put the crates to good use in helping her reach high spots to dust.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla got to the store bright and early to get ready for the day. Today's music was a selection of salsa - if nothing else, the kittens seemed to enjoy watching her dance around.
[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com
Teyla was a little nervous about her first day on the job, but all of her tasks seemed to be straight forward, with what Melody had told her. Thankfully, she'd gotten instructions on the CD player, so today's music was a little bit of everything as Teyla played one disc from every section of the store, to see what she liked the best.
