Teddy unlike his mun was not horribly late for work today. He was there and studying.

Or something.

One last week and he was going to graduate!
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy was more than happy to have the meeting somewhere that wouldn't remind of kids. Hopefully.

After his third year of this happening, you'd think he wouldn't be so worn out from it, but you'd be wrong. Terribly wrong.

But he did manage to get pizza and drinks for the club before flopping over to never move until graduation. That was a good plan.

Being the one who woke up first for work, it was Teddy who brought Orden along with him. It was also Teddy who was beginning to wonder how the hell he managed this parenthood thing wherever Orden was from.

"No, Orden, don't touch that. It's a collectors edition."

So, of course, Orden would NEED to try and read it. Because this dad wasn't good at the Emperor Voice yet. And he could get away with it.

Teddy just prayed that Chad would arrive soon.

Teddy had his iPod going as he organized a batch of Uber-Man from the nineties. When he was made of electricity and two people. Or something.

Nothing quite made sense in the nineties.

He might have been doing a bit of a dorky little dance as he worked. It was all the music's fault, though.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
At work today, Teddy was looking up information on back issues of a few of the collections in stock.

And looking over the message boards. But that was all for work! Nothing fun there at all for him, thank you very much. Even if he was enjoying telling someone off for getting an issue number wrong.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
With suggestions of a new meeting place to spice things up, Teddy had handwavily let everyone know they were going to be in town for this one.

Hopefully, no one was too terribly hungover from celebrating yesterday.

He even managed to get pizza and soda all set up for the group! Snaps for Teddy!

Turtle Wexler heaved a great sigh. One of these days, she was very sure that Mister Apu would learn that that other cash register was absolutely no good and she wouldn't have to come in and drag out the right one (which was, in effect, very colorful and very plastic and had lots of large buttons and cool sounds). Today was not one of these days, but Turtle had fixed that, dragged out the toy one, set it up (thanks to the help of a chair) on the counter and got ready for a Very Important Day at the store.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Chocolate Chip Cookies, Grape Judas, Brussel Sprouts EW!

Alice had left Dinah at home today. There seemed to be freakish winged harpies soaring through the air, and that wasn't the proper environment for a genteel kittycat.

She did bring her vorpal blade. She hung a sign on the door:

Your music employee is on the roof, killing harpies. If you require music, please attract her attention and she will be down to assist you momentarily. Please do not take advantage of this situation in order to shoplift; we have video cameras and sharp weapons.

She didn't know if there were surveillance cameras, but it seemed a useful threat.

And so Alice went to the roof, vorpal blade in hand, and tried to look quite innocent, a young girl who would be no match for vicious, cruel harpies.

Although the loud music she was blaring might give away her true intentions.

Digging through a stack of new comics to keep them organized, Teddy had found himself distracted by the fact that--somehow--a deck of Pokemon meta Pocket Monster cards had ended up in there.

And now he couldn't stop looking the new ones over and mentally complaining about how they were better when he was a kid.

Once back in Fandom, Chad had only one thing on his mind, so he had Teddy take the luggage back for him while he went to get the cats. He had been all week without them (suddenly, he was wondering if the drunk all week thing had simply been a way to numb the pain of being away from them); not only that, but he had a whole week of abandonment to make up for. After playing with both Galliano and Prince Oscar Pedro for a good long time and buying almost more cat toys than could fit into a bag, he had another idea for penance.

He gave Teddy a call to come join him at Sushi Station when they had the chance but, under the odd looks of some of the employees, Chad and the cats settled at a table, contemplating on what kind of sushi to get.

Even with the sun out, it was still fairly chilly on the causeway, creating a brisk reminder of what everyone would be leaving behind for the next week as they traveled through the Caribbean.

As the students, teachers, and guests gathered to wait for the portal to Florida, everyone was given a copy of their lodging information and a trip itinerary to peruse:

Much like someone across town, Teddy was still in an excellent mood over the weekend. So good that he was still humming some stupid song from the dance that was now just stuck in his head.

He might even attempt dancing next.

It was scary.

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

[Wait for the OCD or so help me...I'll hurt you is here! Up early because Natalie said so and to get the most out of play. Second part to go up later on tonight (tomorrow?) to save browsers and to spike punch]

Marion hadn't noticed anything weird going on in town today. Then again, Marion wasn't exactly the most social of people these days and wouldn't have known the difference between one crazy person and another.

After a very entertaining Super Bowl party, Teddy was almost willing to egrote in order to get out of work to sleep in.

But then he remembered the comic books.

Ah, he loved his job.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Looking around at the exhibit, Teddy... was pretty sure he was never going to be an art expert. It was just confusing to him.

So he was reading a book at the front desk. Something about a murder mystery where a guy killed some woman's husband right before the divorce and they ran off into the west. It was interesting!
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Running a lot bit late into work this morning, Teddy was about ready to fall over and just hide from the world. But, oh no. There were comics to be looked at!

And put away, but that wasn't the important thing! It was all about the reading right now.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy was going to spend a very long day hiding among the comics today. Far, far away from any damn phones. And he never did get to have sushi with Chad...

The island just liked messing with people too much.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy was had somehow managed to find a dictionary at work today and started to idly flip through it.Surrounded by comics and he starts to read a dictionary.

His only excuse was that he was very, very tired.

After missing the trip for Christmas due to being a puppy, Teddy and Chad were on their way off into space for New Years Eve instead. He really hoped Phyla wouldn't have a problem with bringing Chad along with him for this...

Or the cats.

Well, they couldn't very well leave them behind!

They crossed over the causeway as Teddy explained again that, no, the cats didn't need small space suits, no matter how adorable they may look in them.

The usual menagerie of pets was increased by one at the store today, the golden retriever pup that usually was his boyfriend sitting with Chad behind the counter. Chad looked at Teddy thoughtfully, trying to plan out how to explain why he wasn't at work today to one of his bosses.

And also trying to figure out why he couldn't get Teddy to play Chase the CD with the cats.

"You're just being stubborn, aren't you?"

The little bark in response was pretty much a yes.

There hadn't been anything better than waking up to cats who were, well, cats again. He really hoped this was just a one time event. A Galliano with thumbs meant he could mess up his comic book collection even more.

...that was possibly the dorkiest reason ever.

But, when you worked in a comic book shop, order and caring for these kind of things was a good thing. Especially when reading over the latest happenings in one of his favorite books and trying not to headdesk.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy was never every drinking again. Ever.

Not that he had a hangover, oh no. Alien biology was great for that, but now he was just tired. He tried his best not to fall asleep at the front desk of the gallery, but that didn't quite seem to be enough.

Well, at least he wasn't snoring.

Marshall had made sure the place was extra clean tonight and that the zombies were extra taped up because of the karaoke contest tonight. He was glad to help the students out but he was a bit pouty. He didn't want to work. He wanted to sing! Luckily Chuck walked in just in time.

"Hey Barney Jr," Marshall said, waving Chuck over. "I've got a favor to ask."

Chuck looked Marshall over. "There's not enough money in the world."

"What? Ew. I don't even want to know what you mean by that," Marshall said, making a face. "Can you tend bar? There's a karaoke contest in here tonight and I want to to watch. Can you tend bar?"

Chuck opened his mouth to say no but found himself getting pushed over towards the bar.

"Great, thanks, don't kill anybody," Marshall said quickly before heading over towards the stage.

Chuck bitchfaced.

Teddy was online at work. No, he wasn't quite sure it was okay with his boss, but he needed to keep up the debate that a picture had started.

It wasn't quite a flamewar yet. At least he had that going for him.

Hopefully.

Teddy was flipping through one of the mangas in the shop. Gotta catch 'em all and all that. It had been so damn long since he played the games, but it was still kinda fun to read.

And it made him really want to find a gameboy to play it again.

Yes, he was a dork, he knew that.

Teddy was glaring at the list of comics for next year, noticing quite a few of his favorites weren't being renewed.

"Oh, c'mon! He's the best Sparrow and now they're canceling his series?" He said to, well, no one. He just needed to whine about this.

And, damn it, he didn't read it regularly, but he had liked Avians of Hunting.

Ben wasn't planning on making a habit out of opening the store up on Fridays, but he just had his employee open up for the first time yesterday and he wanted to make sure that his less-than-strict screening process had worked out this time.

He looked around and decided that, yep, it had worked out. Feeling a certain relief, Ben took a seat behind the counter and started playing with that camera again as he waited for customers.

[OOC: Still looking for another employee for, say, Tuesdays. The store is open, but I'm off to work so SP until about 7:30 PM EST.]

Teddy was now reading an indie comic book he'd never heard of before. It was about an underwater city and something about magical crystals adn was starting to get hooked.

This was officially the best job ever.

It was Teddy's first day at the new job. In a comic book store.

Oh, this could not end well for anyone involved.

He was busy pouring over the back issues of Y-Men that he was missing and wondering if he got an employee discount if he bought them all...
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy got there early to help Hoshi get everything organized for the haunted house. He could only hope the handwavey note he left for Kappa Kappa Gremlin was seen and everyone showed up here.

And that the posters actually worked.

There were plenty of supplies to make this a damn nice haunted house, though! And, of course, the food to keep the workers happy. Now all they needed was said workers....

Wednesday had gotten eaten by paperwork and writing up a field report about the island itself, so it was Thursday before Sarah managed to open her new business. She'd been a little afraid of what kind of geek Nirvana it would turn out to be, but she found a clean and well-ordered shop full of comics, gaming cards, and plastic toys that weren't really for kids. Apparently the last owner was pretty good at his job.

She made a large sign for the window and settled in behind the counter, paging through a spy comic with a sense of increasing disgust at the implausibility of it all as she waited to see if anyone would wander in.

Teddy really needed to get a better alarm clock before he had to get to work next week. Even if staying in bed had seemed like a great idea.

So that might be why he was napping, head pillowed in on his folded arms on the front desk.

Sleepy aliens are sleepy.
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy was practically bouncing as they had walked to the comic book store. There was one on the island now! This was just so damn cool.

...

Yes, cool.

"I'm going to buy the newest trade paperback of Ratman," Teddy said gleefully, darting off into that section of the store. It even smelled like a good comic book store.

The store was opened a few hours later than usual, due to Chad being busy manning his club booth earlier, but it still opened in due time, and Chad, feeling extremely musical from earlier, settled in with his guitar to pass the time into the evening and looking forward to that sushi delivery a certain someone had mentioned.

Mmm. Sushi. And that wasn't even thinking of the dirty connotations the food now had.

After a trip to the Perk for an iced coffee, Teddy found himself in the park. The weather was nice and he was sitting on one of the benches, watching the ducks in the pond.

"Shoo! Shoo!"

This could not end well for him.

Teddy was not late in opening the gallery today. Unlike his mun. He was, however, spending a lot of time looking over the exhibits done by people from around town.

It almost made him wish he had any talent in that area...
[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com
Teddy had two kittens at work today.

One was Galliano, of course, and the other... well it had on a cape and kept trying to save Galliano from things. Despite being half his size. It was kinda adorable.

And there was no way he was leaving them alone in his room. This way he could keep an eye on them.

The poster was still up for submissions. )

Teddy was not late for work today. Really.

He was just... slightly slow in getting there. Because he forgot to check his e-mail. Yes. That.

Today was 08/08/08. Chad thought that was pretty cool.

But not as cool as the fact that he'd gotten a call earlier that day from the agency that booked him for that one ad saying that they'd like him to come shoot another one next week. He'd have to skip his workshops, but that didn't concern him as much as skipping work, but, he figured it would be okay. He was management, after all.

To celebrate, Chad decided to run a special of a free music magazine with the purchase of a CD.

Still reading the book he picked up, Teddy wasn't being the best of employees. He just wanted to make sure he wouldn't end up with a cat that tried to eat his brains or something.

That would end badly.

And Chad would be sad.

So... more reading. Who knew cats involved so much work?
[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com
Today seemed the sort of day, as he came in to open the store a little late after his class, where Chad realized things. Things like, hey, we've moved again. Hey, there's a lot of weird birds around. Hey, Danny Aiello was still alive and putting out music.

The most prominent thing he noticed, though, he noticed when playing with Prince Oscar Pedro in his downtime. His little kitten wasn't really so little or a kitten anymore; he'd really grown up quite a bit since he got him. So Chad scratched behind Prince Oscar Pedro's ears and told him, "Since you're big now, you have to make sure to be a good big brother to whatever pet Teddy gets, okay?"

There was purring. Chad figured that was as good of a yes as anything else.

Once upon a time, there was a Kaylee Frye who worked at Groovy Tunes. Chad remembered her. But this was different, because this was not only a different Kaylee Frye, but it was also Chad, but there was still a full-circle sort of feeling to it.

And that totally made sense, really. It did in Chad's head, anyway, which was currently in the skull of a much smaller and arguably cuter person.

It was interesting, coming in to open the store after the mind-swap. He actually had to carry Prince Oscar Pedro (who didn't care who was carrying him, as long as they pet him, it seemed) and once he got there and tried to do some things, he found himself remarking, in his temporary adorable girly voice, "....I can't reach!"

Chad settled behind the counter, listening to music, because he wanted to know if music sounded different when you were in a different body, but he didn't plan on staying the whole way through til midnight. He figured being in a different body was good reason to skip work for that party.

After what was relatively hopefully a rather successful first workshop, Charlotte left the school to return to the gallery, opening it a little late but in a very good mood. It seemed as though there was plenty of cheerfulness left over, since her kids all seemed hopefully sweet, and she was certain that they would have a great time.

There were also plenty of muffins left over. Muffins that she intended to try to push on anyone who might come in to see the exhibit today.

The York Gallery is open!
[identity profile] perfectmissyork.livejournal.com
Usually, Charlotte wasn't spending much time in the gallery on a Tuesday, but she had a lot of work to do. The Matsuyama exhibit was coming down, and she had a lot of measuring and plotting to do for how the next one to come in will be arranged and set up and placed.

There was a sign in the large windows announcing that the gallery was closed for the installation of a new exhibit, but the door was open to let in the cool breeze of the day and to keep Charlotte wondering if she should just give up on working, do this all tomorrow, and then perhaps tentatively go out and enjoy the fact that the island was relocated, despite the fact that she was really quite confused by it.

[[ establishing the fact that the gallery will be closed for the week, but, as the post says, the door is open so visitors are welcome! ]]
